Bosco-d-gama Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Unsure how the math works but an academic in London gives us this info: He says the ‘normal’ flu is (on average) passed from one person to 1.4 other souls. After 10 generations of the flu being passed along the initial infectee (new word) has become responsible for newly infecting 14 people with the flu. For covid 19 the infectee (on average) infects 3 people.......... after 10 generations that translates into 59,000 new cases of covid 19. In reality we seem to witness most people at least trying to comply with self quarantines. And then there are some making no effort whatsoever to limit their activities. Supposedly after you crunch the data you get the aforementioned ‘average’ rate of infection....... which (if correct) is pretty sobering. That said already some college students returning from ‘spring break’ are testing positive for covid 19. At this juncture, with what we know and how seriously covid is impacting the economy, etc such reckless endangerment should be criminal. On a positive note the ‘treatment’ French doctors are claiming works has been fast tracked through the FDA with Trumps personal insistence. 100’s of thousands of doses are headed to New York City. The data is slim but encouraging and France has given us a precise dosage regimen they claim makes a significant improvement in viral loads. Not a cure but a drug therapy which hopefully will reduce the severity of the illness and, in turn, the loads placed on our systems. Take care and be safe for all of our collective selves. 1 1

Chloroquine and primaquine are well understood to be less tolerated by blacks and those of middle eastern descent. It is a powerful drug but better than the malaria it was designed to treat. Nearly every drug has its downsides and must be utilized accordingly. 1

Greg_M Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Fed Promises Unlimited QE, Corporate Bond Buying, Muni Buying, and Main Street Credit The Federal Reserve said Monday it will purchase unlimited amounts of Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities and buy corporate bonds, municipal bonds, and asset-backed securities for the first time. The Fed announced a major expansion of its programs to support the economy on Monday morning following several days of frantic moves by the central bank to expand its support for credit and money markets. Fiscal support for the economy, in the form of spending and lending programs from the federal government, stalled on Capitol Hill over the weekend. The Federal Open Market Committee, the Fed’s monetary policymaking unit, said it would purchase Treasury and mortgage securities “in the amounts needed to support smooth market functioning and effective transmission of monetary policy to broader financial conditions and the economy.” 1

Apparently in part because of a disagreement over a $500 billion fund to make loans to businesses without any requirement to disclose who the recipients are. One side claims lack of transparency (a "slush fund"). The other claims secrecy is required because if the public knows who is lining up for aid, investor confidence in those companies will plummet. 1

This same question was asked regarding TARP in 2008. The shoe was on the other foot at that time. A lot of people demanded to let them all fail. 1
