Lots of info on this forum about this amp. Lots of love. Selling it as I’m moving to solid state amps.

Comes with many tubes: Gold Lion kt77, new Mullard EL34, Art Valve 350b (with its own rectifier tube), 3 Psvane KT88 (1 blown), many 12au7.

$2200 plus shipping

Thanks, Ted

Well, not much response... but. I swapped the VRD in and removed my pass XA25... I’m keeping this VRD!  I think I prefer it over the Pass.  IDK, but I’m going to keep listening, it does so many things well. I can’t see any reason to sell it now.

no longer for sale.

thanks, Ted

I know this is a vague question, but any recommendations for 12ax7’s for the VRD?  I have Telefunken, Brinmer, and Mullard 12au7’s, but only 1 pair of ax7’s, rca commander?

looking for smooth midrange, don’t care about bass, I have separate amp for below 500hz.

Mullards! I like the 10M 12AX7 as they seem to have better focus and extension than a standard Mullard 12AX7, and still give that beautiful midrange, but they can be a premium now days. For 12AU7, I prefer the long plate Valvo, or the short plate RT 12AU7WA. This one: https://upscaleaudio.com/collections/preamp-tubes/products/radiotechnique-12au7

This amp was my own personal stereo VRD that someone talked me into selling to them...

Trust Paul I don't believe anyone on the planet has tried more tubes in VRD's that included me. In the end you'll never go wrong with any "VINTAGE EURO Made"  Mullard or Amperex in either the AX7 and AU7 slot.

Wow very interesting amplifier!!

These must be handmade built to order small company? Any more info on them?

Since you are asking about what are the best tubes for the amp I would find out the exact primary impedance of the output transformer and what the B+ is. Then use the power tube that fits best. EL34 would want a higher load, 6k p2p vs 4k p2p for the KT88.

In triode mode both tube types are only 200 ohms difference for internal impedance so they would be ok with similar plate loads. If you use triode mode the most then no worries.

I also find myself listening to tubes nowadays more than solid state. I do love some of my Pass type amps but they are not the same as a lot of other solid state amps. I do enjoy any great amp but tubes tend to be powered up here for more often lately.
