Thanks for asking @MMurg, it’s going out this afternoon to current sustaining level members this afternoon (which you are one). We will give Sustaining levels members the long weekend to register, and then I publicly post it on Tuesday here and on social media.

@Travis In Austin - Any update on when registration for this will be available?  I'd like to make sure I'm registered before I start booking travel that may be non-refundable.  🙂

Generally, everyone should try and get into Hope by late Friday afternoon. Roy is furnishing dinner Friday evening for everyone at the Visitor’s Center, socializing and music there until 10 ish.

Then all day on Saturday between the lab, auditorium and Visitor’s Center.

Me too.  Looking forward to this.  How long has everyone waited for dedicated subs for the Heritage models?  I would not miss this opportunity to learn and listen all about these.

Roy @Chief bonehead has added an extra half day to the class:

Half-Day added for Friday, November 10th starting at 1:00 PM

The Subfest '23 Event scheduled for November 11th, with pre-registration on Friday, November 10th from 1 to 5, (dinner starting at 6:00 P.M. cooked by Chief Bonehead) has been extended with a half-day on Friday November 10th.

Chief Bonehead announced at our latest planning meeting today that he has been "cooking" up some great stuff for this class and he cannot fit it into one full day, so we are going to start the course at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Klipsch Factory, so please adjust your travel plans accordingly. Don't panic if airlines, work, etc. won't allow you to arrive until Friday evening, Roy says what he has planned for Friday afternoon is like spaghetti sauce or Texas Chili - "it's better the next day." We will be repeating that segment during the following day.

We are looking forward to seeing you at this event.

Sincerely,

The Subfest '23 Planning Team*

*Roy Delgado, Jr., Bill Hendrix, Mark Fragnito, Mike Dyer, Jim Hunter, and Trav

Roy has been working on ideas on how to show, with real-world examples, of differences in direct radiator vs. horn-loaded subwoofer design, performance, and sound. He has come up with a way to demonstrate in a concrete way how these basic subwoofer designs differ in sound and distortion (among other things).

How is he going to do this? He is having his team build four subwoofer cabinets with different design elements. An evolution of subwooferage (an industry term) you will be able to hear for yourselves with their corresponding pros and cons.

We also learned today that Jim has been mining the archives for never-before-seen PWK drawings and other tidbits dating back to the '40s where Mr. K was working on the bottom end to offer "full range." As you know, he could initially do this with the original 2 way Klipsch horn. Apparently, PWK was experimenting with porting/venting on his X-3 prototype and Jim will point that out. You will also see some concepts PWK was working on very early on with large horn-loaded speaker designs, and large in comparison to his Klipschorn.

Mike Dyer, the official Klipsch Heritage Brand Ambassador for Klipsch Group, Inc. is developing a presentation to put this evolution into perspective. He might even be able to show you some things that he has Roy doing to his AK-3 Khorns that will be offered to all Klipschorn owners,

The more I hear about what Subfest '23 is going to be the more I can't wait.  Special guests, presentations, partying and playing your music at the Visitor's Center, Klipsch lab listening sessions, All the tech on the new DSP / powered Heritage subs.........a huge opportunity to learn what's the best way to bring big bottom end to all your Heritage models.  If you are even considering attending you'd best sign up soon.  This will definitely eclipse past Jubfests..........and the Heritage Jubilees will be there as well to play your music on.
