Is it Canada, the fishing in Canada, or the Canadian beer that is the cure for what ails you?

I'm betting on all three which makes for a wonderful vacation from Flint. Glad to see you back Craig. We are still thinking about you and your dad. Don't be a stranger , your thoughts and spelin' are missed. [;)]

  • 2 months later...

I had been trying to get my Ma and Dad aged 71 ( in very good health)

out in my new camper. Wife had annoual phyical plus getting ready for

the school year and 2 kids were at band camp. So it was Ma, Dad, my 11

year old son Aaron and I for a Salmon charter in Lake Michigan Friday.

We canoed on THursday..

We got our limit plus 2 fish from the Charter Captian license for a total of 14 King Salmon.

5 were about 18-22 pounds

3 were about 13 pounds

6 were scattered in between

If we rough it out at 15 pounds per fish times 14 = 210 pounds of fish

Yielded about 90 pounds of fillets. It was only my second salmon

charter of my 38 year fishing carreer. When I was 14 I coaught a 9

pounder.

Left the dock at 5:30 AM and returned 8:45 AM

It was not really fishing in the normal sense. It was....

-participating in a bizarre phonomena of nature

-late summer harvest

-A frenzy of fish hitting artifiial bait

We were out 25 minutes before light and just as he horizon

started to blue up the fish stated to hit. We had 4 fish on

simulataneously twice. lost 2 one time and 3 the other. The tiem we

lost the thre simulataeously the one I had was way heavier than the

biggest we had boated. Captian thought maybe 28-32 pounds.

Probably lost 8 total to lines being stressed and fatiguing, my sons inexperience and chaos.

Pretty much a Twighlight Zone experience for me.

Guys in the boat docked next to ours took 2 12 packs of beer and had not time to open 1 before they got their limit.

Will have son upload pictures by Monday.

Awesome memories that your son will remember long after you are gone Mr. Flynn!!! I recently took my Grandson fishing for the first time. He not only cought a limit of brook trout in 30 minutes we both have a memory to share, and possibly a lifetime of then as well!!! I wonder how many threads the word trolling would have produced???

It is better to be lucky than good; although Flynn's are darn good fisher people.

Mom and Dad have flown into 3 Canadian provinces plus Alaska fishing.

Mom still likes to camp, canoe, hike and fish. Dad does all the same

plus pheasant and deer hunting. At 70 they do pretty well. Mom tired

halfway through her second fish but her first was one of the big ones.

Being around the water fishing and swimming has been great family bonding.

God continues to smile on us![:D]
