m00n
So, every once in a while, I'll hear a song that I listen and think to myself, that song is perfect, I would not change ANYTHING about that song, note one note, nothing... So, I'm just curious to know what song(s) that you guys think fit that category. I just heard one which is why this is on my mind. I can think of another one as well. 1) April Wine - Roller2) Loverboy - You take me to the top Just something about those two songs, they just seem perfect in every way. picky
Believe it or not, Rick, the first song that comes to mind, because I just listened to it prior to reading your thread, is done by a somewhat obscure American artist who has carved-out a fairly good following abroad in the UK and Europe but not so much here. Her name is Anastacia and the song is: 'I'm Outta Love". It's a pop song of all things, but it has a terrific hook that reaches out and grabs you immediately and doesn't let go until the end. Her voice is very soulful and somewhat reminiscent of the style of Tina Turner There's quite a sidebar on the singer having battled b-r-e-a-s-t (< the system sensored the word) cancer and all, but I found her 2001 album, 'Not That Kind' very listenable, if you enjoy pop. There's even some interesting bass lines in some of the songs. It's worth a listen. -Glenn

theryugobuddy
a little song by Pat Metheny - "Praise" off First Circle -- all instrumental. Starts with acoustic guitars and ends with that unmistakable synth guitar and Pedro singing-- short and sweet
Klipsched with Yamahas
Funny....I just mentioned this on DVD, Music review weekly thread from Thebes: Billy Joel, Angry Young Man , Turnstiles I was a very idealistic, self-motivated, ambitious, stubborn, and at times "defiant" youth. This particular track does hold some truisisms for me especially during that era. Now that I'm mature, the adjectives just grow longer![*-)] There's a place in the world for the angry young manWith his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be known as the angry young man.Give a moment or two to the angry young man,With his foot in his mouth and his heart in his hand. He's been stabbed in the back, he's been misunderstood,It's a comfort to know his intentions are good. And he sits in a room with a lock on the door,With his maps and his medals laid out on the floor-And he likes to be known as the angry young man.I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rageI found that just surviving was a noble fight.I once believed in causes too,I had my pointless point of view,And life went on no matter who was wrong or right. And there's always a place for the angry young man,With his fist in the air and his head in the sand. And he's never been able to learn from mistakes,So he can't understand why his heart always breaks. But his honor is pure and his courage as well,And he's fair and he's true and he's boring as hell-And he'll go to the grave as an angry old man.(synthesizer solo)There's a place in the world for the angry young manWith his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be known as the angry young man. skonopa
Something that is truly perfection to my ears... Beyond Twilight - For the Love of Art and the Making: This album basically consist of a 40-minute long song divided up into 43 parts (why I think it qualifies for this topic, since it is one song, although it is some 40 minutes long!). I've not hear anything in the typical mainstream channels that comes even remotely close to the perfect and beauty that I've heard on this. Some incredible orchestration along with some seriously kick-butt metal riffing, along with amazing vocal work as well. The complexity of it all is just beyond belief! Not only that, but this is recorded extremely well on top of it all. Yes - Perfection right here! There is not a single thing I'd want to change on here. And on top of that, since each of the parts is is own "track" on the CD, you can have some fun with it and "rearrange" the parts like pieces of a puzzle (in fact, the artwork in the album denotes a jigsaw puzzle motif, like each of the individual parts is part of a large puzzle). You can get some pretty interesting results by playing this on "random shuffle". But that is not me wanting to "change" anything, but simply using a feature provided that let me "play" with it to even more than just simply listening to it straight through. synthfreek
Oh Comely I will be with you when you lose your breath Chasing the only meaningful memory you thought you had left With some pretty bright and bubbly terrible scene That was doing her thing on your chest But oh comely It isn't as pretty as you'd like to guess Oh comely All of your friends are letting you blow Bristling and ugly Bursting with fruits falling out from the holes Of some pretty bright and bubbly friend You could need to say comforting things in your ear But oh comely There isn't such one friend that you could find here Standing next to me He's only my enemy I'll crush him with everything I own Your father made fetuses With flesh licking ladies While you and your mother Were asleep in the trailer park Thunderous sparks from the dark of the stadiums The music and medicine you needed for comforting So make all your fat fleshy fingers to moving And pluck all your silly strings And bend all your notes for me Soft silly music is meaningful magical The movements were beautiful All in your ovaries All of them milking with green fleshy flowers While powerful pistons were sugary sweet machines Smelling of semen all under the garden Was all you were needing when you still believed in me And I know they buried her body with others Her sister and mother and 500 families And will she remember me 50 years later I wished I could save her in some sort of time machine Know all your enemies We know who are enemies are Goldaline my dear We will fold and freeze together Far away from here There is sun and spring and green forever But now we move to feel For ourselves inside some stranger's stomach Place your body here Let your skin begin to blend itself with mine This is probably my favorite song of all time. oldtimer
This is a very difficult idea for me, because perfection is well, rare. I would nominate "Don't Fade On Me" by Tom Petty from the Wildflowers lp as being right up there.
Moderators dtel's wife Posted August 26, 2007 Moderators Share Posted August 26, 2007 I Hope You Dance...Lee Ann Womack....perfect lyrics....beautiful music I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger.May you never take one single breath for granted.God forbid love ever leave you empty handed.I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens.Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance.I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance.Never settle for the path of least resistance.Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin'.Lovin'might be a mistake but it's worth makin'.Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter. When you come close to sellin'out, reconsider.Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you danceTime is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along.Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder, where those years have gone.I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens.Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.I hope you dance. thebes
Sade, "Hurts Like Brand New Shoes" comes to mind plus and Eva Cassidy's cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" comes very close except there are a couple of lines in the original lyrics to this song that aren't perfect. Great topic for a thread by the way.
