Oiling Klipsch Veneer - what do you use?
KT88 replied to Quad Khorns's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Do these recommendations also apply to vintage LaScala and Klipschorn, which are labeled raw birch (BR) or raw fir (FR)? Or do you do nothing in this case except clean the dust? -

Bsacco1, You can click on my avatar for a better look at mine. They looked like yours. I had a cabinet maker repair the nicks and gouges, then condition and stain them with Minwax mahogany and finally coat them with satin water-based polyurethane. My kids were preteens. The edge plies are covered with 3/4โ x 3/4" solid cherry and finished with the rest of the cabinets.

Kinda thought that's what you'd have to do but... It was soooommmeeething. Long as you're up and now a happy boy. Enjoy!

Ciao, Ago! Non รจ affatto stupido! Those panels are not stiff enough. You should build a 90 degree corner as tall as the bass horn and at least 1.25 m from the inside of the "L" to the edge. Build the as you "wood" a wall in your house. I have no idea how Italian walls are made. ๐ค Plaster or gypsum board (Sheetrock, dry wall, ...) covering will work well and can be painted to match your walls. Mr. Paul Klipsch used these in his home.

I wouldn't bother breaking up a Karlson for firewood.

PWK advised me to use linseed oil and I did for many years. Now I just use furniture lemon oil. Works OK. PN -

@Schu Both great movies -
Like you, I have been fortunate enough to have / (had) the I, 1.5 and II. I still have a pair of H1 and the modded 1.5. Here are the 1.5 Here was the H2 The better sounding H1.5 and H2 is, IMHO, due to the K701 horn. Using different tweeters and mid-drivers might be a contributing factor.
