  2. I have two main hobbies; Home theater and cars. I just went out and picked up this new ride, a 2014 Buick Regal GS AWD. I hope you guys don't mind me sharing a couple pics... It is replacing a 2010 Mercedes C300 that I had a couple major reliability issues with. I am loving this car!

  3. In a way im glad they come over in person to vent, the cops never tell you who your "Gladis Cravites" is, so you never know who you pizzed off. Im just amazed it was from four doors down, witch tells me everyone closer does not mind so much, the lady across the street is the only one who has ever said anything, and when she did, she said she "Liked" my music!

  8. personal comments are very helpful but as it is with reading reviews one has no real reference unless you make the effort to check out for yourself the gear that is being reviewed. If you choose a single reviewer who has shown to be consistent and honest then you can for yourself figure out where that reviewer is conning from what they like and do not.You compare your review with that of the reviewer and pretty soon you can read between the lines. buying and trying is the way I learned what sounded like what. I think that you first need to establish your personal preferences to help you focus and make your search easier. Different drivers (sizes) all sound different. Only by listening will you find which you like best be it a ten inch a twelve inch or a fifteen, they all have their qualities. Same thing goes for horns and compression drivers. Matching horns and drivers is easy and hard all at the same time. If you look at a driver like the JBL LE85 and the H92 horn you will see that the horn and driver are totally integrated the horn profile starts at the throat inside the comp driver and is perfect in its flair rate. Finding other modern drivers with exits that match horn entrances angle for angle will take time. Parts that match well will sound good. Not all companies match up drivers to horns this well and they don't match all their parts either so you can't assume that any JBL driver and horn are a perfect match just because they fit together. That's where forums can help. The Lansing Heritage forum is an excellent source of specific information. You can ask manufacturers what the comp drivers exit angle is and then ask manufacturers what the horn entrance angle is you won't often get answers but you will sometimes. Users with expertise can help you when companies can't. You will have to listen to various comp driver diaphragms but you can be safe that the order of performance and bandwidth is phenolic, titanium aluminum and best by a mile the Beryllium. If top quality aluminum diaphragms were available for Klipsch Heritage and Extended (Quartet Forte and Chorus) I would be on them but the only upgrade diaphragm available is the ti so I use them and I modify the drivers to help clean up the sound. In general the bigger the better for horns. Larger horns hold and control their polar pattern lower in frequency than do smaller horns. So you need to decide on how big is big for you and work within those limits. This too will help you to quickly focus your search for horns. Keep your eyes open for deals and buy and try, listen for a few months and sell off what you don't like and move forward. I hope this helps you a little to make your search less daunting and confusing. Best regards Moray James.

  11. The ubiquitous Upper Peninsula-style Whiskey sour: Over a rocks glass filled with ice - 1 jigger of Canadian Mist or Kessler whiskey - top off with Squirt, 50/50, or Sour Pow'r - dash of bitters - garnish with two olives on a tooth pick ...or if you're feeling spendy, the national version: Over a highball filled with ice - 2 jiggers of Makers Mark whiskey - top off with Sweet n' Sour - garnish with a cherry or an orange slice

  18. So six month or so ago I sold my La Scalas of 12 years to buy some new speakers. I wanted something that looked and sounded better. I bought a sub woofer from SVS and it is great. So decided after reading all the wonderful reviews on there Ultra towers it was time to sell the La Scalas and buy the SVS Ultra Towers. Well the Ultras look better. Only because the La Scalas where a little beat up and some *** lacquered with polyurethane and did a horrible job before I got them. Damn and I am not sure if they sound better. My only complaint with the La Scalas was I felt like I had to listen to them to loud for them to open up and sound great. I replaced the crossovers with ALK Universals many years ago and there was a noticeable improvement. But now I wonder if the new ALK Universal economy crossovers would fix this problem with the ability to turn down the squeaker and the tweeter. Well how about the looks? A beautiful pair of Walnut Belles will fix this problem. I will be going to get these in a few weeks. Besides I missed you guys and felt like a traitor for playing on here and not having any Klipsch in the house.

  19. Selling my lightly used 4 year old RF-63 speakers. They are in excellent condition and have minimal marks on cabinets. Grills and drivers are as new. Only reason for selling is recent purchase of RF-7 II speakers and inability to utilize all speakers I have. I'm original owner and have owners manuals, spikes, cartons, and most(but not all) packaging materials. I'm located in Chapel Hill, NC and asking $800 for local sale only.

  21. Some of THE single most dynamic live performances your body will experience. Program crest factors in excess of 18 dB....they know percussion and milk every ounce out of their rigs. There's "rock concert" loud for sure, but then there's also getting massaged and smacked around by 20-25 dB transients during the crescendos.

  28. I have to totally agree. If many are like me, I listen to music 10 to 1 over watching movies. Not because I prefer music over a good movie, but a movie is usually a minimum of 1:45 commitment while a quality music listening session can only be about :15 commitment if you want it to. Cleaner low/midbass is where the rubber hits the road in most applications and where the RSW-15 excels. None of the subs that I own(Revel B15, SVS SB13 Plus, RT-10d's, RSW-10d) will hit 15Hz with any audible impact(if at all) but from 18Hz(audible for B15, SB13) and 25Hz(audible for RT-10d, RSW-10d), these subs make for some incredible fun for movies and some serious punch for music. 31. Thanks, dad. I call you "dad" because that's exactly how my father talked to me, after I had done something stupid. After I fell out of a tree when I was a kid, I thought I broke my arm. My brother went running and found my dad, who immediately came out to where I was and saw me lying on the ground, writhing in pain, crying that my arm was broke. My dad took one look at me, assessed the situation, then asked me calmly; "what were you doing in the tree?" Thanks, Dad.

  35. Last chance advice: Is the power chord hard wired? If not, completely un-plug it, then plug it back in. I have learned the hard way, never to assume. I once took apart a Honda 100 engine because while I was riding it wide open, it just stopped and I assumed I had put a hole in the piston, a common problem with those bikes at that time. While re-assembling the bike, I discovered they run better with gas in the gas tank.

  45. 110% Irish on this end, and only just proven by my wacko cousin paying for a family DNA test. It seems it must come from a male member of the family, because females introduce change throughout the chain, males do not. Male DNA stays the same, passed down throughout history, unless of course you work at Fukishima. As far as drinkin, well, got me Duggans and coffee going for the last hour......
