  1. 55 in the Cave and like billybob, im feelin frisky, i like the lower temps. Coffee W/Duggans and thinking.hummm, Ah Ha, got it, Scotch/Beer run! "Newer" C Band receiver will be in this week, $15 bucks on the Bay. once up & running i will be looking into this digital 2D & 4D stuff. Think ill take the wife with me on my run(s), she will drop a "C" note by herself in Totalwine. On a side note: I cannot wait for election Tuesday to be over, these TV Ad's are BS! These elected morons should get ONE four year stretch, then done, Promise them one million at the end of term. One month before end of term the public weighs in (internet vote) weather they walk with one mill or 500K, IMO. Have a good Monday.

  2. Mornin' all. Pretty good day yesterday. I think we passed the puppy parenting test when the volunteer from the Springer rescue operation paid us a home visit. He brought a foster care Springer with him who was rescued from a puppy mill. Cute little guy in the process of being socialized and doing fairly well for all the neglect he suffered. We're hoping one of the foster pups will be in our home soon. What a rush. Even watching the Broncos get their butts kicked couldn't bring us down! Not much on the agenda today. Rainy and cold (snow in the mountains). Have an excellent day, all.

  7. Yesterday at the SoCal coast, we awoke to an atmospheric phenomenon -- droplets of water were falling from the sky! No, i’m not joking … it really happened. I quickly went inside and googled “water falling from the sky,” and found there is actually a name for it … precipitation. Fearing this could be the end of the world … I quickly grabbed some take-out from a local eatery, went home, grabbed a guitar and jammed a bit … waiting for whatever was going to happen on this Sci-Fi Saturday. I don’t know if a meteor had momentarily knocked the earth off it’s axis; but, things are back to normal today … blue sky, sun shining, and mid-70s. Whew … that was a close one. California people, there just spoiled. Probably so dry out there it just got sucked up immediately, California is still "extra crispy".

  15. Yep I read it, it's amazing you made it home in those tough conditions, almost like a fireman. I bet the plants and grass didn't even recognize what was happening, and to think some places have frozen water falling from the sky ! These places are uninhabitable most of the year for normal human beings, as it should be, but some crazies live there anyway, it's called northern states, Sounds crazy but it's true !

  16. I concur with everyone to get the outlaw. Mine has been rock solid and dead quiet. It is the same as the ATI2005 model that sells for $2500. I bought mine used because it was only a year old and still under warranty. It has 2 huge Power supplies and has actually been benched at 235 wpc @8ohm. Nothing wrong with the XPA5, but it is nowhere near the specs of the Outlaw 7500.

  17. Spoiled? Did you read the part where i said water was falling from the sky and I was outside in it? I powered through it and made it home. I know that makes me look like a hero; but, please … firemen, now those guys are the heroes.

  19. So, I recently took over the basement in our house to set up a man cave consisting of a lounge room (bar, audio/video equipment. my guitar collection hanging on the wall. etc.) and a separate studio room for amps/instruments/jamming. Right away I knew I wanted the vintage stereo set-up I never had when I was younger (i.e., McIntosh and Klipsch), and I wanted to build a 5.1 system around it. I recently purchased a beautiful set of Cornwall IIs as the mains, and wanted my Heresy speakers to become the surround. Last night I finally got the full system set up. See the list of components below. Spending this morning listening to some SACDs on the system. Just outstanding sounding. I love the Cornwall/Heresy combination. I think to complete it, I may now be in the market for a single Heresy to use for the center and replace the RC-25. Outlaw Audio 975 Preamp Project Carbon Debut Turntable Oppo BDP-103 Multidisc Player Notebook PC w/HD music McIntosh MC2105 Stereo (Main) Amp Rotel RB-976 6 Channel Amp, Bridged to 3 channels for Centers/Rears Klipsch Cornwall II Mains Klipsch Heresy Rears Klipsch RC-25 Center Klipsch R-12SW Sub Samsung 51" Plasma 3D TV

  20. I'm offering up a pair of oak oil Chorus IIs, for pick up in South Orange County. Speakers sound terrific, but have a few cosmetic issues. There are stains on both tops from the previous owner, one looking like maybe it was left by a flower pot, the other much smaller. There are also some scratches on tops, but nothing major. For some reason, the previous owner put 5 pin holes across each front above the grill, which are noticeable up close, but start to blend in from a few feet away. Other than the above, they look pretty good. I used Howard Restor-A-Finish followed by Howard Feed-N-Wax on the cabinets, and the grills, speakers and radiators are in nice shape. One set of binding posts has been changed out, for whatever reason, to gold plated ones, while the other remains the red and black plastic ones that came stock. I opened the modified one up to make sure that the crossover had not been replaced, and it hadn't. The Chorus II binding post cup remains, as well. When I bought them, both speakers had aftermarket tweeter diaphragms, which I replaced with Crites. All other drivers and speakers appeared to be stock. Serial numbers are sequential. I do not have boxes for them. I am asking $500 $475 for them, which I think is more than fair. *SOLD I have a nice walnut Academy as well (see multiple photos below), which I would like $200 $185 for, also available for local pick up only (sorry). *SOLD For possible trade options, see post #20. If you are interested, and would like more photos, I will send via email.

  26. I'd pick the Denon simply because Audessey is proven, especially XT32. Realistically speaking though you'd be happy with either. As for the Marantz, I have an SR-7009 if you have any questions about it. My only complaints are that the display isn't quite as advanced as most people imagine plus it gets very hot compared to cheaper receivers. Otherwise it's a beast, can crank out way more than what I can use.

  30. Nice,I've been wanting to go to Canada, but can't find anyone to go with me. I also do the Salmon Run in the Salmon River annually on the fly. I got hooked immediately after catching my first one. I'm in NJ so we don't have a bunch of Muskie Lakes and the ones we do have most everyone trolls for them. I did have an over 50" muskie come up and bump me in my kayak.Needless to say I moved to another spot to fish as it was very cold and I didn't want to chance being flipped.

  32. It sure is. There is something unique about horn-propagated sound for the entire range -- treble, mid, and bass -- of the speaker. The La Scala is a real favorite because its musical sound is so integrated and, as Dtel says, tight and accurate. Pat of the secret is the bottom portion, which is the mouth of a very large horn. That horn, especially when sitting on the floor, provides the entire lower middle range from the bass to notes that go above above the A-440 that orchestras tune to. That's a LOT of middle range, and that critical area really makes the speaker special IMO.

  33. Well I got the basement framed out yesterday, it was around $2300 in labor and materials, $1000 in labor. Let me tell you it was worth it, 3 guys did before lunch what would have taken me a month lol, and the finished it in one day, which would have taken me 3 months! Getting really excited now, next step is running the electrical, which I need to start pouring over Youtube videos and tutorials for that. 1st pic, view from the screen 2nd, view to the screen 3rd the HT closet The room is bigger than I thought, turns out to be 25.5 x 17.5 when framed!

  35. Hey guys, well it's back to the shop for a few hours. Didn't get the Accord finnished. It's been nine years since this car has had a Timming belt......so off with the belt. Lather in the afternoon my old shop helper stopped in, he did a quick side job. He still has keys to my shop' he comes and goes when he wants. I have known him since he was 14 he is 28 now, he comes with a long story......enough said....anyway he talked me and the wife to go to dinner......so we all went out to a Japanese steak house.....he has a wife and two kids......it was a good night Have a good day all :-)

  36. Yes coffee for sure.......worked till 11:00 last night at the shop, trying to patch my daughters car, over 300k on that old Accoed.Had the Carver pumping the watts to the kp362....... Getting cool for sure. Take care all. There are indeed nice things involved in owning/renting an industrial space. Brings back memory's of the 70s in SoCal. In Newport Beach, grew up having a roommate or two just like everyone else, however @$700 per Mo, i picked up a small shop space in Costa Mesa, (cheaper than Newport) that is when i got into wattage, dam, i really need to move to the desert soon.

  38. I know, that sounds crazy but we were way south of here all last week and it was almost 90 and sunny all week so this feels cold. That's true about the Tequila, and Rum, it worked all last week to beat the heat, ok that's just an excuse it just helped the overall laying on the beach experience.

  42. Morning gang Nice and mellow on the west coast, fall is indeed here. Everyone seems to be doing well. Firewood stocked for winter, "C" Band big dish is coming along, it seems a lot has changed in 20+ years, Digital is the way now. 2D and 4D Tv requiring a new (addon) receiver is needed, will be looking into this. Still have the "Wild Feeds" so all is well.

  43. My Pono player is due to arrive any day. I'll post a report. As a Kickstarter supporter of this device, I've exchanged several emails with Pono support. My original query was whether the $299 black unit I purchased months ago would come with any music loaded. To my surprise and dismay, the answer was, "No," but music could be purchased from the Pono site after delivery. I replied that my confidence in the business wisdom of those backing Pono was shaken. To send an empty unit is foolish. At least a sample tune from Neil Young was appropriate. Imagine the disappointment after receiving a silent player after all these months. I compared the scenario to the Monty Pyhton Dead Parrot bit. "That bird's dead. No it's not. Yes it is. No it's not." A dead bird can't sing, It must have shamed them into sensibility. Pono recently announced that the Kickstarter units will now include a demo track from Neil Young. Of course it will. What were they thinking? Nobody had the sense to realize that delivering music-less players was absurd?
