  1. I would like everyone to know that your thoughts mean a lot to me. Today, we decided as a family to have a "non-traditional" service...I mean, that we will have a playlist before the service in the background, 2-3 songs during the service (I know one song I chose is "Time," by The Alan Parsons Project. My father would mention to me that, "this should be played at my funeral..." I always just laughed and thought it was meaningful and sad at the same time. My sister will help choose the music as well. As my father and I are both University of Texas graduates, I am going to ask the members of the service to join me in "The Eyes of Texas." I feel that my Dad would get a kick out of it, and I am very happy to honor him in a unique way. You have no idea how much your posts have made my mother and me smile this evening. Thank you.

  4. This was a guy that we all talked to everyday. I don't talk to many of my family members that often. I'm gonna miss him, that's for sure.

  5. I feel the absence of Boxx.....one of our own. There is an empty chair here in the Cables and Coffee coffee klatch . I friend some folks here on the forum because there is some commonality or admired trait that draws me to them. My friend Boxx had many. He loved this forum as was evidenced by his writing, his wit, his calming influence, his creativity, as well as the many friends he made here. His dedication to this forum is unmatched. Boxx dropped in from time to time to share a cup of coffee with us. He always classed the place up. He will be missed. Cheers Gents

  6. All true, everything can change quickly, take advantage of the pleasure of everyone around you, it's not permanent. This is truly shocking, you know in a way even without meeting in person you really get to know the real person. How someone really acts in many situations is more of a true indication of what kind of person they are than looking at them face to face. I know it's always said people act a certain way behind a computer keyboard, but I think the good side of people can easily be seen even through a computer, it's really hard to hide over time.

  8. I was talking to my dad last night about my baseball schedule for school. He was excited and proud that a local high school didn't invite my baseball team back this year because they took us "lightly," and we beat them in their own tournament. I will always be thankful for the sacrifices he made for me to play at a higher level. He recently told me how badly his arm would hurt throwing the millions of pitches to me in the batting cages. I wouldn't doubt he threw me millions of pitches over the years. He never wanted to let the pain show, or tell me, in fear I wouldn't ask for him to throw to me because he wanted me to be the best. Those days will always be worth it to me, because it was time I spent with him learning the successes and failures of baseball...life. He would tell me, "baseball is a very unforgiving sport." Just like life, because you are, "only as good as your last at bat." As a young teen, he would print out or hand write little motivational baseball quotes in my room. I still have a few I kept over the years. It will hurt me deeply not having him in the stands while I coach, as he made every game he could watch. I know he is just looking down from heaven, it just hurts he will not be there after games to give me his "critique" of what happened.

  11. Morning Gang Hopefully this will be a better day without any Forum losses. Bit of a nippy morning here, or im gettin older, 36 outside, 50 in the Cave and warming. Tarheel should be getting spoiled about now, bypassing the builtin soundcard does make a difference. Guess we could say we have another DAC convert

  12. If I have any influence, his posts and avatar will remain forever here. As a moderator, all he had to do in an iffy thread was to show up and things would improve. His status may be "offline," but he will be forever online for those who loved him. Alex, I would ask that you consider joining us. It's obvious you are of the same cut of cloth as your father. You have instant recognition here. Listen to music, enjoy his system and remember him when you do. He will be with you. Dave

  13. Thank you sir. That means a lot for the offer. I teach and coach in Arlington. It is difficult to look at his stereo equipment, or want to listen to music. All of these things I shared with him, l remind me of him. This has been one of the hardest days of my life. I have lost a father and best friend.

  14. You will know the time to pass it on, i see a new DAC in your future, and their are far more qualified people here to tell of the kind they like. Do not know if you loaded the CD or not, if you do, it gives you an EQ, that will mess with your sound like no other

I know the weather (72 and sunny) is hard to take but it will change. Whoops....you are in California so I take that back. It's there to stay! Is anyone using the premium Spotify? Other than eliminating commercials is it worth the $9.99/month? What do you like about it?

  23. I picked up this cd at the local Goodwill yesterday, The Very Best of Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops On the back is has a warning: Caution: Digital Sound Effects of high levels with infrasonic frequencies to 5 Hz. Please establish safe playback levels before playing. Excessive playback levels could result in damage to equipment. Has anyone seen this warning on a cd before? This is the first time I've bought a cd of this type before, so I don't know if this warning is normal or not.

  24. In the spirit of the "phrases" thread, something has been bothering me lately, especially when realizing I'm as guilty as anybody. It revolves around having a superiority complex. Social media has become a non-stop wizzing match. A vain train. Let's all be narcissists. It gets old. examples: your religion is superior. super old pet peeve of mine. But, it goes well beyond that. your vehicle is superior, you take more pics of it than your wife. Even if it isn't, you still act like it, participating in what amounts to the old Chevy vs. Ford debate. your house is superior, you use it to remind everyone of your social class. your social class in general is superior, that's why you shame and laugh at the poor Black Friday shoppers who can't afford a nice TV otherwise. your morals are superior and that's why you're all too eager to be "offended" for somebody else's sake your beer is superior, and you are too eager to dismiss someone's rice soup, aka. Budweiser and the like. your mad debating skillz are superior, that's why you know all the logical fallicies and are quick to reference them, even if it means stretching the definitions. your diet is superior, health food nuts are often bad about this. hell, on here, even your speakers and A/V buying choices are superior. seems like if you are a somewhat young female, you show everyone your superiority complex via selfies, which amounts to nothing more than fishing for compliments. even hunters display it, your litmus test of whether a deer is worth shooting is superior, even your methods are, such as bowhunters snubbing crossbow users. let's not even get into politics, but since I'm mentioning it, liberals are typically really bad about this by default, but it goes both ways. I even have multiple friends who are all too eager to directly point out that their taste in music and even artwork is superior. Really? sports teams... ugh. who. gives. a. crap. It's a waste of life. My 2015 resolution is to try to shed as much of this as possible, both in exposure and my participation with it. Happiness should not be dependent upon telling other people how to live or trying to display how your quality of life is better, even if indirectly and subconsciously. The world needs to step off of the Narcissist Express for awhile. I will try to jump out as soon as I can.

  26. Okies, this is what we've asked for. Yellow rose of Texas for a fine Texan. The card will say "From your friends of the Klipsch Community." Of course, the banner will be printed nicer and the whole thing won't look exactly like this, but we've faith the florist will get close. It's a bit over 300.00, but we will make up any shortfall. As mentioned, donations via PayPal to damallette@mallette.org. If you can't do PayPal you can handle it as you see fit. Many thanks to the Perfect Audiophile Wife for handling the design details and florist. Regards, Dave

  27. Strong statement from Paul Jacobs, CEO..."This is not an evolution of anything we've ever done before, this is THE revolution that Klipsch has been working of for the past 10 years." I'm looking forward to hearing these for myself.

  28. So I will update my prediction (last time I was accused of being a buzzkill). There's something big coming today at noon. What we saw yesterday isn't any of these things: Klipsch getting back to its roots Klipsch getting back to high end/high profit "Biggest Launch in years" If what we saw yesterday was to reflect the above, then Kliipsch has turned into a marketing engine just like Bose. I hope I'm wrong. What makes me think there's something big coming? What was with the riddle from Chad? Why all the hype about PWK at CES? Where are the wood veneer speakers with real compression drivers? I think we are going to see them in a couple of hours.

  31. Product liability marking and marketing hype. Many loudspeakers and subwoofers on the market, particularly those with direct radiating drivers, cannot handle concert-volume playback of low frequencies (where loudspeakers are always the least efficient) even in a small listening room.

  32. Hi Jim, I'm not too far away, Brooklyn NY, a couple of miles east of the Verrazzano Bridge. Back in the day, I went to Devry Tech in Woodbridge. I have 2 systems running Heritage, Klipschorns and Cornwalls in Bath Beach and another system running Heresy's in Bay Ridge. Your welcome to check them out. Joe

  33. Alex, your father was truly the most interesting man on the Klipsch forum. Kevin educated us, infected us with his passion for music and family, and made us laugh with his posts so very often, brightening our days and threads, Your Dad gave to us all--he brought us all in as extended family through his keen wit and music passion. As one of our patriarchs of passion and joy, he will be sorely missed, but will continue to challenge and encourage us all through his archived posts. Though our loss in the Klipsch family can barely compare to the loss you and your family feel, your extended family here in the forum feel we have lost a true gift in your father. My prayers for you and your family in the now and through the days ahead. May God rise up the stories of joy Kevin has hidden your heart and the hearts of your immediate family members, and give you all the opportunity to share them in these early days. Prayers, Billy

  37. Alex, We had a survey a few weeks ago as to which of the Forum members we would most like to meet in person. Your Dad was at the top of the list. That says a great deal about how he was regarded by this Community.

  38. I am in tears. I loved this man, though never had the pleasure of meeting him. I go with the normal "He's in a better place..." but I am really not sure there is a better place for BOXX than the Klipsch Forums. I wish comfort to you, and am so glad he was taken from his happy place. That resonates with me as my mother and daughter both went the same way. He was blessed. Dave

  42. Moray, you are a super smart and sensible guy. I always respect what you have to say, but I am a bit concerned. I like the Klipsch forums. I hope they stay around. In order for that to happen, Klipsch has to exist. They are not operating like this because they WANT to. They are operating like this because they NEED to. In such a small market, loudspeakers is a very competitive one. Not only that, but people are restoring old well made speakers which reduces the new speaker market even more. One last thing. As it was stated before. If we want change, we need to talk to the retailers. The biggest ones are likely Newegg and Best buy, but I may be wrong. On this little side alley of Klipsch, we cannot effect change without making it make sense to the bottom line. Klipsch is a business. This forum is a neighborhood. Sorry to counter-rant, but I think there is just too much of this ill will going on.

  45. I will say the RP stuff is MORE than just an update. The tweeters are a completely new design. Think of it as leaving rubber all over the road compared to a chicken strip with the Ref II LTS tweeters. They be hot-rods! The 450C is sweet! Finally a sketch of our Atmos tower, it is pretty cool in person. more to come...

  49. Congrats! Well now, that wouldn't be "original" would it? [] Make sure to measure the voltage present at the terminals. The idea is to be certain it's the same on the L&R channels. Even if the voltage measures the same, you'll have piece of mind knowing that the problem indeed lies within the speaker cabinet and not outside of it, before spending money or time investigating the matter any further. With that out of the way... See my posts in this thread: http://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/143229-my-newold-pair-of-la-scala/#entry1634397 I had exactly the same audible issues with my speakers. Developed a harsh mid range first. Fixed that only to have the tweeters follow suit shortly thereafter. Give Bob Crites a call for the gaskets. Basic horn maintenance that'll go a long way towards good sound. [Y] *edit* Fixed broken link
