  1. Coffee & breakfast down, now time to start in on the BM's. A lot of snow here too. They say 10 - 15 inches by the time it stops, sometime after midnight tonight and then temperatures plummet to near 0. Going out too to start digging out.

  3. Mornin' gang. One big cup down and another in process. Snow on the ground in Denver metro ... not a big deal but more than the dusting they predicted. Entertaining out of town friends today and will probably take in the Super Bowl even though we don't have a dog in the fight. Good food and friends is enough. Cheers.

  7. when we first came to the U.S. back in 1968 we lived on a farm in VA. Someone gave me a little chick. It lived in the trailer with us. Well that little yellow chick turned into a big rooster. It was a pet until it got mean. My dad would mess with it. It started to attack my mom, my dad would just laugh. The only two that were safe from the rooster was the dog and my dad. Even the cat would run from that thing. It go so bad we had to put it outside with the other chickens. Still when my mom would go out to hang up the laundry the rooster would chase here.......god it was funny......she had to take the dog with here. The rooster would not hang with the other chickens to much. It stayed around the trailer most of the time. The rooster went missing for a few days, had no clue were it was. We lived on a 3500+ acre horse farm. One morning leaving for school the rooster was back in the yard. But it was all messed-up, covered in blood............ standing on one leg.........it's big comb on it's head half hanging off.......and making some sad sounds. Well dad went back in the house got his gun and shot it. It was a sad day. A few days later we saw the other rooster he got into a fight with. He was in worst shape......missing an eye......all beaten up, dad said "looks like I shot the wrong one" Well 2nd cup down, just hanging out today......might watch the game? Check on later :-)

  15. Just finished replacing my trusty Panasonic AE3000u with a new Panasonic AE8000u. Out of the box, my initial impression is SWEET! Image is definitely brighter (2400 lumens vs 1600 lumens), contrast ratio is much higher (500,000:1 vs 60,000:1). The AE3000u has always impressed me with it's PQ.....the AE8000u is just that much better! One feature I REALLY like is the Auto Detect and Switching between 16:9 and 2.35:1 content. The Auto Switching seems about 3x as fast at switching than the 3000u did. I haven't timed it but it is noticeably faster at switching between lens memory presets (zoom, focus & digital lens shift). The brighter image will be needed when I upgrade from 103" to 150" screen.

  20. When we had chickens the coop was about 50' from our bedroom window and the rooster would start at about 3:30 am, don't know what was wrong with him, so I gave him to a neighbor.

  21. Are you brewing an ale or a lager? Low temperature fermentations are perfect for lagers, especially 45-55 degrees or so. Ales need to be fermented (ideally) at 65-75 degrees. Either way.....Relax, Life's Too Short, Have a Homebrew!

  22. My beer is a little cloudy but not bad. Being winter time in a old farm house its hard to keep the room temps warm all the time and I bet thats a key because of the yeast. I'm going to keep brewing. Its alot of fun

  28. Bad news there is.... she grew up with her family owning a second property.... a farm. (this is where we live today but it's non-working) She'd LOVE to have some Llamas and goats, especially those sleeping (?) goats that fall down whenever they get scared. She thinks they're cute. A neighbor of ours has Llamas and she loves the serenity of their land with the animals just loafing around. No.... a Llama threat won't work. Keep thinking...

  30. Iv never had a Fav team, cannot, will not, it's all about the numbers that come up. If my winning number(s) requires a team to score, im rootin for that team. Saves a boat load of money during the year, as there is NO team favored. Pats would be a good win, it's been a long time since they have been there.

  31. Not their final location, they sound fantastic. They are in better shape than I thought, they look brand new. These will go down in the basement at some point, I cannot believe how big they are next to my KLFs.

  36. I've got an old stove top model and an electric model buried in the back of the cabinet that I use every once in a while for nostalgic purposes. When I was a kid, I remember that my parents and their friends would argue whether Mirro-matic, Presto or West-bend made the best pots. During canning season it was the same with the Mirro-matic and Presto pressure cookers since the All American was out of the price range.

  38. It's starting to sound like the best plan of action for this KP600 system is for me to finish the build out. I do have three Crown MT1200 amps here and numerous other ones, as well as a Rane stereo three-way crossover, that should be able to be configured to a mono 4 or 5 way system. If I can get another one of those and sell one other amp I could build up a complete turn key system for somebody. That way not only could I breathe life back into these behemoths, but hear and tweak them properly, and the buyer could hear them in action. There have been so many questions about them that it just doesn't sound feasible to sell them in current condition. I have a 1700 ft2 facility here, with the purpose being to tinker with speakers - this is the ideal project I have the space, tools, and know-how. Time to get busy.

  42. I think you're on the right track here, but you need to ratchet things up, not just convincing the wife you're crazy, but that you're getting worse. You know, like telling her you'd like to have Llamas (they come as a pair for companionship and need special fencing), or that you would like to have a goat for a house pet, that sort of thing. I just think sneaking giant KP 600's into the house and hoping she doesn't notice isn't going to work. But I like the way you think.

  43. There were 2 speakers, the EV sold. The EV Aristocrat and the EV Marquis look a lot alike form the front. The Marquis can have a 12' or 15" driver that can also be a coaxial, and is not relegated to the corner. So yes, I look for the Marquis, too.

  46. Don't limit your search to stands designated for speakers only. Look for plant stands, pedestals even bar stools. A lot of these have a much nicer visual than most of the speaker stands currently available. just my .02 ymmv https://www.google.com/search?q=plant+stands&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=YRTNVKXPHdT_yQSTkIKoCQ&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg&biw=1024&bih=702 https://www.google.com/search?q=plant+stands&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=YRTNVKXPHdT_yQSTkIKoCQ&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg&biw=1024&bih=702#tbm=isch&q=planter+pedestal+stand https://www.google.com/search?q=plant+stands&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=YRTNVKXPHdT_yQSTkIKoCQ&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg&biw=1024&bih=702#tbm=isch&q=wood+plant+stand
