  3. I got 3 pounds of beans in the mail yesterday. Gotta finish this stupid can of grocery store stuff before I can start grinding them up. 2 pounds of Kona await also. I guess I could have worse problems. If anyone wants some really good beans, roasted right before the order goes out, look up Lola Savana out of Houston. Shipping was 10 dollars for 3 lbs and the coffee was $7/lb. Hard to beat it. Happy Thursday, today is my Friday as I'm off tomorrow. 3 day weekend!!

  8. Just wanted to say hello as a new member. I live in the UK and have recently joined the Klipsch user community for the first time after replacing my B&W speakers with Cornwall IIIs. I notice that forum members don't seem to rate them quite as highly as other Heritage models, which worries me slightly, but to be honest I'm absolutely delighted by them. Maybe I'm just making up for 12 bass-starved years...but they seem to be a very good match with my low power DNM s/s amps. I also suspect that Cornscalas might feature in my system one day - although with zero DIY skills I imagine the individual shipping costs of a pre-built pair to the UK might be prohibitive..

  11. First room of the painting project done. Sanding drywall created lots of dust. LF and I spent yesterday cleaning. She washed all dishes, leaded crystal, candle sticks. I vacuumed and mopped twice, changed intake filters, and changed out receptacle to bright white color. This morning I cleaned and rehung pictures. Next week I get the painter started on the foyer and hallway The DAC arrived yesterday and I was too tired to mess with it but my curiosity got the better of me so I hooked it up. Played some premium Spotify for a couple of hours. Sounds pretty good. Got to go find a coaxial cable to hook it up to the CDP. LF is taking the old DAC to the post office to send to Chuck in CO. Threw in an extra cable so he can go right to work with it. Nice casa Earl! Cheers Gents

  19. I've been listening to Pandora for a few years now. Many of these artists would not get a penny from me any other way. So they get their 100 bucks for a few hundred thousand streams... not a very good return, I know. BUT because of Pandora I have "discovered" many artists I never knew or heard before and I have bought countless CD's and high rez downloads of artists I hadn't known before. If they (those who are still living) ever bother to have a concert in my vicinity I might even buy tickets to go hear them. Prior to streaming I would have never heard of them and they would have not one cent from me. Pandora's original agreement with ascap was bad early on compared to some other companies but I don't know if they are getting a better deal now. Sounds like they are doing pretty good! Don't get me wrong... the artists deserve more... but they wouldn't have gotten anything from me without streaming.

  23. Afternoon Gang Mail is in, and it looks like enough goodies to get started Figures both Relay boards would show up at the same time, no biggie, i like spares. The "Button" will, through the relay board control multi function(s) and in this project, voice and mechanical. Could have built this using PLC control(s) but this critter needs to be reliable. 70s and Skeeters for the next week. New Keyless drill press chuck arrived also, man after 20+ years, finely keyless on the shop press

  24. We are allowing our first responders to become judge, jury, and executioner all within a 2 minute time frame. Running from a cop who is commanding you to stop is unlawful. Backing away from a cop and not heeding his commands is unlawful. Neither of which, in my opinion, deserves a summary execution.

  26. The musicians (or actual music rights owner) can reject a contract with Pandora, not have their music played, and not get anything. It's their own fault either way. The mere fact you hear their music on there shows they agreed to the deal. Why feel sorry for them? They would get nothing otherwise. Taylor Swift didn't go for the deal and that was much publicized.

  29. My personal rules for negotiations based on experience and not exactly being trained: 1. Always know your market, always be smart, always know what competitors are offering. You should be the one who knows when BS is being spewed. When somebody tells you that your competitor down the road has the same thing for $200 less, you ought to know if this is true or not. 2. Always strive for a win/win. Negotiations should be a give/take, not a give/give or take/take, especially if you want repeat business. 3. If you are making somebody an uncomfortable nervous wreck, then you aren’t an alpha male, you are a bully and a jerk. If somebody is making you feel like that, the same thing applies, and they are not worth messing with. Walk away, life is too short to deal with that. Chances are you could provide somebody else with what they are asking and they’d be happy as a lark, so why are you helping the jerk out? 4. Always be aware of how rare an item is, but never let it slip that you know this if it is in fact rare if you are the buyer. The seller instantly thinks the thing is plated in gold and any leverage you think you might have is instantly gone. 5. Never act excited. You lose all credibility when you do this. If you’re going to act excited about anything, let it look like you are looking forward to doing business with the other person, not that you are desperate to obtain whatever he has. You want to come across as an alpha male and seasoned businessman, not a newbie. 6. Some things should never be on the table. Bending laws, putting you or someone else at risk, helping somebody’s shady business practices which may make you look bad, etc. You must retain integrity, some things are off-limits. 7. Time is typically your friend. If you rely on uncomfortable shock and awe tactics, then you are a bully and a jerk. There is a negotiation chapter in “The Millionaire Next Door” that you should read if you want to see how millionaire gentlemen negotiate a car price. It is the exact opposite of how a wheeler and dealer conducts himself and is much more pleasant, with no ego stroking or bad feelings involved, and with better results. 8. Know who you are dealing with. If somebody creeps you out with shady negotiation tactics, simply look him up online. Case in point I had a customer who I did this with, come to find out he scammed people through his business, and enraged an entire community by starving a pony to death. Some people just aren't worth dealing with. Send those guys packing.

  30. I have raised my sons with the idea that negotiating is the most important skill you can learn. As a demonstration, I let them watch me negotiate for a car, and in a few short minutes get a price down $1,000. Then I let them know that I made $1,000 in 5 minutes, which is equivalent to $12,000 per hour, and that was just for a car. Conversely, if you are the person giving up to the stronger negotiator, you are paying him $12,000 per hour to make you a nervous wreck and feel like you just got taken advantage of. They get the picture. If you ever watch Shark Tank, it is interesting to see the negotiation strategies. I have gleaned a good deal of insight watching that program.

  31. I sent mine to repair, Got it back and the sub is not broken. This is how all R-115SW sounds. Klipsch told me the best way to eliminate the hum is to buy the wireless kit, or turn down the volume button on the back and make a new callibration with your microphone pluged in the receiver. Martin Pedersen Denmark This sound unacceptable. That would make me feel like they did not put enough research and development into the sub. I would send it back and take my money to another sub company. Some will consider this harsh but, the real world has other companies that will bend over backward for your business.

  33. You have to be a negotiator to look out for your best interest. I enjoy making a deal. I also enjoy walking when it's not right. So many times sellers or buyers will come back to your terms in time.

  34. "I have them apart and there are only two caps 3uf and 8uf." I would like to see the old caps, I bet they are still fine. The paper tube is filled with sand to damp microphonics and then end-filled with wax. The capacitor element is a stacked-film type with hand-soldered teflon leads. The manufacturer was Electrocube, and I would wager they are still good, and may sound better than some of the cheaper polypropylene types.

  36. What kind of walnuts? We have about 50 - 150 lbs of black walnuts a year after husking. The kids pick them up and we haul them down to the feed store where they remove the fruit and pay the kids around 10 - 15 bucks or so for their trouble. Lot of labor for the money but it saves me from a bumpy ride on the riding mower and it teaches them a bit about work. I saved a bag for toasting last year but shelling was such a disaster I quit and fed the rest to the squirrels. They must have appreciated that the fruit had been removed and the nuts had been nicely toasted in their shells because they were all gone by the next day.

  38. I am home and improving. These past few days have brought major improvements in my walking. And yes... my subs are working just fine. Another picture bit the dust today thanks to Youthman telling me about some oldschool bass with Techmaster PEB. picture didn't last 5 seconds into "just gimme that." I appreciate all the prayers.

  41. Um, well............ Not only have I purchased new music introduced to me through my free Pandora many of my friends have done the same. The industry has a perfect introduction medium in a Pandora service. For me Pandora replaced digital cable radio that spoon fed you genres they chose and that were at least as repetitive and not at all for free. I have Pandora stations developed around Johnny Lytle and Wes Montgomery. I have a Bossa Nova channel and baroque. Sorry if their business model is too successful. Egads - after watching 90 seconds of the Grammies and getting violently ill methinx the music industry has lots of room for improvement. Don't worry be happy.

  43. Where we seem to differ is the price. You say it is zero. Yes that's true in dollar terms for the consumer. Maybe. Unless they have to take the bus to get there. But even their time to get there in any form is a price. The other difference I see is your statement of the transaction needed to feed people is not relevant to how the food is procured. Of course it is. It is charity from those who have already purchased the food. No donation equals no product. It doesn't matter if there is enough food in the system to feed people. if the distribution is not enabled, they get no food. Just ask starving people in Africa or anywhere for that matter.
