  2. Oh hell, that's 50 below my target weight. I am 6'2" at least. Guess I'll never be as sexy as the Chuckster. Yes I have resolved myself to the fact I will never look like Chuck 6'3" and 255-260 depending...........but I have big bones, it's not the fat, it's the bones causing the problem, they have a lot if insulation !

  4. Ok EVERYONE...............this is just to remind one and all, that after a week long work schedule for OUR organ company, the Leonerd Bernstein Memorial Concert at Tanglewood is TONIGHT.. I found a high streaming link to the broadcast starting tonight at 8pm. EASTERN which I plan on listening to this evening through the laptop and Music Hall system.... I know that Todd was interested in hearing another Boston Symphony concert LIVE. This is an EPIC concert with a record amount of musicians on a specially expanded concert stage (they had to REMOVE many front rows of seating for this). This concert features Mahler's 'Symphony of A Thousand' #8 !! There are performers also featured OFF stage as well, and features the Aeolean Skinner pipe organ we have taken care of for nearly 30 years ! Hope you'll tune in for this 2 hour special 75th year celebratory concert from the concert 'shed' at Tanglewood, MA. Here then is the link to WMNR and a choice of high streaming players you can use to listen... LINK: http://wmnr.instantencore.com/web/page.aspx?title=Listen ............Gary

  12. Drove up to Grand Rapids yesterday to deliver some Chorus II's, and discovered the Grand Rapids Coffee Roasters. Only open to the public on Saturdays, as the bulk of his biz is high end restaurants, etc....But...this place was a major score. He will custom roast to your specifications any raw bean that he has in stock, and will advise as to the best for each variety of bean. Takes about 30 minutes for each 2lb batch, and while you are there, you are welcome to drink any of his brewed beverages for free, read the paper, etc. Very nice little place. So, I purchased some very limited Bali Blue Moon Organic, and YEA!! Indian Monsooned Malabar.... I told him my taste in coffee, we discussed the roast that would be best for each of these, and decided on a roast that is just slightly less than you would expect from a French Roast. I am drinking the Bali right now, and it is awesome. Roasted less than 24 hours ago, to my exact spec....couldn't be better! What a find.

  23. Morning crew, second cup going down nicely. Breakfast done, scrambled eggs and pulled pork. Football practice started last week, so this morning we are off to practice, then off to the camper. Tell me about it, my phone was going off for quite awhile with updates, I couldn't even keep up. Good times. Ward thanks for the picture, you all ways take some nice photos. I need to finish the basement, so the wife and kids will hang down there and I could have my record player right here when I have my coffee in the morning. I left my preamp on for two or three days straight one time. Maybe that is why it has problems today

  24. Morning Gang Tarheel, i have left my Amps on more than once, last year i placed a three speed fan just above/outside of the rack and run low speed whenever i fire up the rack, keeps things amazingly cool on low speed. Ask the wife last night, hey swapmeet in the morning? she starting to like this retired lifestyle, we shall see how we feel, her anser. Swapmeet if we do the route, is a three mile walk easy, it's big, but if your looking for something, it's there. Clairinets? saw four last week, all around $50 bucks, turns out that is a popular beater price on the Bay also. Yes, Mr Crow is now slated to be holding a Clairinet.

  26. I'm 6'2 as well JL. Use to be that 192 was my normal weight and I was alright with that. About 4 or 5 years ago I started going lower without trying and got down to a low of 178. Now I try to stay around 183. Don't know if it had a bearing but I started taking meds for low T about that time. The GP did tell me I could expect to put on muscle with that med and I did. Was happy with the change to my physique. So this morning I decided to do Atkins again. Tried the GM diet a few weeks ago but after the weight loss I had a huge craving for carbs and sweets and gained it right back. So just now I had two strips of bacon and two eggs scrambled with feta cheese. Chased it down with a large lass of water. Nice photo Luther....I have that album on CD.

  30. First of all I'm incredibly sorry to the admins for posting the picture of the returned check yesterday. I had hoped that I have met some like-minded friends that may be understanding of my plight in dealing with a bum check from a different state that is over twice as large as what it takes to be considered a felony, and based on my private messages I think I was right, but I realize the details were still inappropriate considering the venue, but were overlooked at the time due to emotions. If the topic had not been locked I'd explain it there, but anyway... Without going into any detail at all, I feel like I'm being scammed, mainly because the parties have dropped all communication, plus were verbally abusive and somewhat shady even before I got stiffed. I don't think this was an innocent mistake and I'm the meanie-head for posting a pic of the check. What sucks is that the amount I'm out was almost the exact amount I set aside for my daughter's college tuition this semester. So, yeah, that sucks, especially considering that I'm typically very cautious about this type of stuff. So once again, I apologize, I've just never been in this situation before and it shocked me. I know grown men whose life savings is less than what I am out at this point and was just incredibly disappointed in society at the time, not just that somebody who I'm trying to help would seemingly knowingly and blatantly write a large check that they apparently have no hope of passing when it tries to clear, but also the seeming lack of help that I'm getting in trying to pursue this on my own without resorting to official legal action. Point is, multiple lessons were learned I suppose. Or something. Carry on.

  31. The speakers are in excellent condition. I upgraded both the tweeter and the cross-over with new parts (B&K Sound Type A/4500 Crossover/ Crites CT-125 Tweeter) from Bob Crites (http://www.critesspeakers.com/). I created the wings to emulate the Jubilees look. (I still have the original wings). Due to the size of these speakers I will not ship, pick up only at my house in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). $2500 Jean

  37. Happy Sunday, guys. Missed ya yesterday. Did the yardwork, took better half to Denver Botanic Gardens (quite a contrast with our yard), out to dinner and joined up with local friends. Gonna hickory smoke some ribs today and a friend is going to grill some crab legs so we'll a different take on surf and turf (maybe 'pig and claws'). Hey Chuck ... don't feel too bad on the diet. I blew the hell out of mine last night with a concrete from Dairy Queen just before we came home. Chocolate Orgy or something like that. Finished the whole thing. Carbs and sugar. Blechhh. Cheers guys.

  39. As I mentioned to those offering gracious birthday wishes, we are in Texarkana looking at downtown buildings for a loft retirement and space for an idea I am working on for a Regional Musical Heritage Center to celebrate the rich and varied musical heritage of this area. If you are not aware of it the ground has barely be scratched to Texarkana and the areas contribution to world music. However, this is one of those personal moments. One of the buildings we have viewed is the Pena's and the building that adjoins it in the 100 block of E. Broad. I had no real idea of what to expect as I really didn't remember what either of these were when I was growing up. But as I stared up the stairs between them I had a sense of deja vu and mentioned I remembered that my mother had once gone to a dentist downtown. I was, perhaps, 8 years old. I remembered entering a street level door and climbing a long flight of stairs. When we reached the top, there were legal bookcases with the glass doors in the hall stretching into the distance filled with casebooks. I could not remember the dentists name, but I recall that he was white haired and wore white scrubs. What I remember mainly was that his equipment looked like something from the old Flash Gordon movie serials and even at my age I had a feeling it all came from about the time those were made. The floor stand with the drills and tools was of white porcelain and had evil looking arms sticking out with pulleys and wheels, reminiscent of the things you see in abduction dreams hovering over the abductee. Of special note was the dental x-ray. It was a dead ringer for Ming the Merciless's air defense ray guns with dark rings of decreasing size pointing toward it's target. At the other end was a soccer ball sized crystal sphere. In the center a perhaps 2 inch diameter cathode cut off at a 45 degree angle. When the doctor X-rayed my mother, I watched as a red spot appeared on the anode. It was really strange. She wanted me to see the doctor as well and I protested mightily speaking of these strange things. She eventually found me a young dentist, Dr. Bann, who had the latest equipment. Still no fun, but I felt so much better about the whole thing. Back to the present. We made it to a long hall as I finished vocalizing my deja vu moment, and, as I turned towards the Broad street front of the building saw the image I have posted here. I immediately recognized the name. Dr. Melze. Nothing remained of the equipment but to stand again where one has not been for 55 years or so and remember...priceless. It's what I am home for. Dave

  40. " I read the original manual and it states 98db/1watt and minimum amplifier power of 20 watts. I always thought all Cornwalls were over 100db efficient and could be played with 3 watt SET amps. Was Klipsch just being overly conservative. Which years are over 100db efficient." The original spec was 98.5dB/2.83V/4' which you need to add 1.7dB to convert to 1M. If you use the T/S parameters for the later K33E (Eminence 15162) and plug them into Bass Box Pro v6.0 and select 'extended bass' it spits out the exact design for a Cornwall and it says it is 101dB/2.83V/1M in the 100hz~400hz region.

  41. I was not trying to imply that the RSW-15 is the best sub in the world. My point was that different subs sound different. The RSW-15 is a very accurate sub though and in a small to mid-sized room it can be quite impressive. I myself have moved on to a pair of Ultra 2's and have been quite happy.

  42. It as you say is all about incorporating things into your life. As mentioned earlier I have a single system. Sort of the sonic hearth of the home. When company is over, it is playing, same on evenings and especially the weekends with music. When I do listen by myself, I have a half decent pair of headphones (over ear is my favourite). This happens primarily later on weekend evening when my wife is sleeping. She has MS and fatigues.then I can concentrate on the music at appropriate volumes. Everything is a compromise, it is all about finding the sweet spot that works with your living space, lifestyle and tastes. I would find a seperate system in another room just a little too separate for my tastes. Prayers for your wife’s condition…that must be rough. One thing i failed to mention is that music is complex … while i can be very social -- it’s also very private. I heard Brian May say that he doesn’t like to tell what a song is about because he wants the listener to give it their own meaning--that way it will be personal to them, and thus more meaningful. He alluded that people would be disappointed if they really knew what a song was about (because they thought it was about one thing and that is not at all what was on his mind when he wrote it). That’s the beauty of music…when we’re alone, we can take a magic ride. Steve Thank you kindly, we all have our personal struggles and most of us take our marital vows very seriously. I'm not a mind reader but I am familiar with the human condition. A change in life - situation, career, stress, health and many other things can lead us to reevaluate who we are, what we have been doing and what, in the end is most important. Sort of a priority tree that is easily ignored in the background when things are relatively static in our lives. We all change over time as we need to with what is happening around us. The only constant in life is change when you think about it. G-d knows I've been through a few, and an especially large one when my wife's health turned. I would surmise that Thadeus has changes on the horizon.
