  1. I'm afraid I didn't take any pictures, but I think your right, I was told the only other 1802 in a home was in Canada. Just guessing the room is about 20x 25 I'm not sure. I had this old picture of the front of the room before the 1802 it was posted here once before and I copied it, next time we are there I will get some pic's

  4. Happy Wednesday guys. Need to check in every so often. Maybe try a little of that holy water on the deck, mustang guy. Nothing worse than a haunted deck when you're trying to give a dinner party. Heading out for a concert at Red Rocks tonight. Great venue. Better Half Unit is a great fan of Dolly Parton and she's in town tonight. Bought the tickets for her birthday a few months ago. Should be fun. Hang in there and beat the heat.

  5. Dtel, Any pics of that 1802 flanked by jubs? That must be awesome. How big of a room does Mr. Harmon have them in? I think the only other set up like that is "turbox". https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/gallery/image/427-new-subwoofer

  10. Now that's funny and a good question, maby should have mixed a little Holy water in the paint ? Just as acceptable is sprinkling Holy Water on top of the paint. If I were him I would keep a misting bottle of Holy water around just to mist everything, regularly .

  12. Now that's funny and a good question, maby should have mixed a little Holy water in the paint ? See the way I have it figured is this. I bought a really expensive thermostat and smoke detector placing them both up the chimney. I set out shot glasses of vodka leading up to the fireplace. Early the next morning I closed the damper and then painted with metallized paint which everyone knows a spirit cannot pass thru. He/she/it must go up and out the chimney; no more hauntings allowed. edit; sad part is that I mishandled a ladder and now I have a customized Belle

  13. I've been wanting a pair for a long time, and finally landed a pair locally. Got what I consider to be a great deal. Bought from the original owner, who primarily used them to listen to classical music. They are CW1's, made in 1982. Finish is Walnut Laquer. I opened up the back of one of them (I like the screw on back panel!), because I had to see what drivers and crossover were in them. They have the B-2 crossover, K-33-E woofer, K-77-M tweeter and K-55-V midrange driver.. One question I have is whether the midrange and tweeter horns came from the factory wrapped (covered) in what looks like mortite? These both are. Got them placed in my listening room, but I'm not sure what the consensus is on placement. Any tips? Also, I tried them driven by my Carver SS amp, since that's all I have right now. I have a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum being delivered Monday that I'm really excited about. But even with the Carver, they sound GOOD. Ran through some Crusaders, CSNY, Earth, Wind and Fire, and finally cranked up "Whole Lotta Love". Even my wife was impressed with that one! Compared to the Forte II's I used to have (which I really liked) it's no contest. So, I need suggestions on placement. My room is 12' x 17' and fully treated (first reflection points, bass traps, etc.). I have them about 20" from the back wall, and pretty close to the side walls now, slightly toed in. I'll play around with, but suggestions are welcome. I'm a happy camper! Tom

  14. Following the advice from some other members here I decided to build a set of baffles for my LaScalas to time align the tweeter with the mid range horn as they are in a relatively small room. I wanted to build something that followed the simplistic box design of the speaker and also wanted the tweeter horn to be mounted in the rear like the stock one is. I also wanted to round over the inside and outside of the baffle for a cleaner look and to minimize reflections from the baffle itself. I completed the build but could not stand the ugly hole where the stock tweeter was so I took some leftover plywood and made some covers. I used the Laser-Printer heat transfer method to transfer the LaScala text directly to the wood using a cool font I found on 1001 Fonts. All in all I think the project turned out really well and I am happy with how it looks and especially how it sounds with a cleaner soundstage and no smeared highs. I did notice I had to point the baffles downward slightly or the sound was very hollow as I think the Crites tweeters have poor vertical off axis response which is good as it minimizes ceiling reflections etc. Also- big shoutout to Youthman and WakeJunkie. That build thread inspired me to get a router in the first place and have the confidence to do some of these custom builds. I also attached a photo of my first router project. Its a custom Klipsch sign that was done with a plunge bit then painted with satin black. The sign was then glued to a piece of hard board with gold leaf for the copper effect. I think it turned out pretty cool.

  18. Well, I placed an order with Bob for the crossover rebuild kit and the midrange horn gaskets. I think I'll wait on the CT-120 tweeters until after I have a chance to do some serious listening with the recapped crossovers. I may be happy with them as is, and if not it's easy enough to open the backs up again.

  20. Mike, you're doing what I wanted someone to do: Give it a good home. Although I wanted to keep it, it wasn't getting used here and that's not fair to it or someone who could use it. Being bass heavy, it did great on my La Scala and should have the same affect on your Heresy. It was really nice meeting you and thanks for the tour. Here is a 1982 Radio Shack Catalog. On page 15 features the STA 2080. BTW, rumor has it that it weighs 48 pounds Thanks again, James

  28. Well, there's THIS. I have to say something about that sub, the 1802. For the last 4 days we have been listening to one of these at a friends house, kharmondds is his forum name. Kevin put one between Jubes, we drug it in and set it up last Friday, moved the 684's out, then we were shocked at how powerful and clean it is. It's big but if there is space it's amazing. The 1802 replaced a PAIR of KPT-684's, that's one 18" driver replacing 4 18" drivers, and it blew the 684's away easily. Horn loaded, done well is amazing. After a few days we were still in shock at the performance, the other part is it blends in perfectly with the horn loaded main speakers. Unless I heard wrong there is a "rumor" that they may be other horn subs coming later, I would guess none will be small considering the design, but there are very impressive.

  32. Face to face conversations are so much different than forum posts, emails and texting. Things can be misunderstood so easily. In face to face communication, we know how to respond because it is usually clear that we are being attacked. What's more, we are being challenged in a more private setting and not from a podium for all to hear. In these other forms of communicating, we have to be much more thick skinned and less quick to temper. We have to understand that the person who seems to be challenging us or ignoring us may simply not be communicating well because they don't have the time, or the written communication skills, or perhaps not paying attention. With thick skin, it can stop there. Perhaps a rebuttle with humility and politeness is a way to clear the air and resolve these misunderstandings. With thick skin, we are showing the audience of the person on that podium what we are truly made of, patience and understanding. We are stopping the war before it starts. We are educating the person and the people that this is a really effective way to resolve differences. With humility, politeness and some thick skin, we can make all of this stop. We don't need to all hug one another and sing Kumbaya. We just need to understand that what we type and what we read, though it has clarity in our own minds, can be completely misunderstood from the true meaning.

  43. We have been mia for the last 5 days which is the reason for no replies or silly comments, my favorite. Went to Lafayette Louisiana to spend time with friends and be abused by Kevin's new sub matched with his Jubes. Kevin got one of Klipsch's new monster theater subs, the 1802, a single 18" driver in a horn loaded cabinet. It's the best sounding and cleanest sounding subs I have ever heard. I expected it to sound good but was shocked, it completely blew away the PAIR of KPT 684's he was using, each 684 has 2 18" drivers, so a single driver 1802 blew away 4 18" direct radiator's, That's what horn loading can do ! I have to give credit to Roy D, this is his design, great work, I have never heard a sub blend so well and be this clean and powerful. When I told Roy that he looked at me and said " so you doubted me" Of course being at the Harmon's house and in Lafayette La your going to eat some great things, and that's just what we did, in large quantities. Boudin balls, different kinds of sausage, including deer, burgers with and without deer, and with deer and brisket mixed together, and being in Lafayette of course it is all seasoned very well. Also something Kevin's brother cooked, a giant pot of a mix of pork chops, and many different kinds of sausage all cooked down after being added to a really nice dark roux and cooked for hours, I had to walk away before i hurt myself . Kevin cooked a brisket one day, I don't know what he seasoned it with but it was perfect, I had to control myself with it. I left out many of the other things we ate but it was pretty much non stop, you don't go there to loose weight ! We all were planning to leave on Sunday but it was raining and someone said, "hey it's raining and there are thunder storm warnings and the bridge is out so we have to stay to tomorrow", which is all it took to get the party going again, the bridge thing was made up As always it's a great time visiting the Harmon's and it's hard to leave. Thank You Now to get back to abnormal .....................

He was brutally honest about this receiver, at times I thought he was trying to talk me out of it. Never was a big Realistic fan but knew they had some quality stuff manufactured for them, and this must be the case here. I also have had a few MOSFET amps in the past that I liked so I took the plunge. I was going for the retro look. I think hooking them up to a pair of Heresy's and putting them in a knotty pine rathskeller, it is like a time warp. Sound as nice as it looks. Thanks James!
