  6. Again, a tough question. Being an outboard amp proponent, I vote yes if you want to extract what those RF-7II's are capable of. Good quality amplification is pretty cheap on the used market. Bill

  7. I am the new lucky owner of the SR-6011. I have been meaning to post in the What I Got Today thread but I haven't gotten around to it. It's an awesome AVR and sounds great with my Khorns. The Marantz was double boxed and the original box was professional prepared, it looked like new when I got it. Thanks again @jwc for a smooth transaction.

  8. absolutely! my 15 y/o son has recently taken up guitar. so we were at a music store to have his guitar restrung, tuned etc. while browsing, we're looking at the Peavey stuff, Marshall stuff & whatnot. I'm checking speakers to see if they carry KP line (no). GF Jo comments something about KGI not making speakers to perform like concert arena type speakers - and I mentioned "ohhhh... but they do!!! look, let me find them for you on my phone!" eye rolling begins followed by 'oh my goodness. I should have known...' I enjoyed it very much, just knowing about the KP series and being able to imply that "yes, darling, they do get bigger than what we have. MUCH bigger "

  9. There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution. JOHN ADAMS, letter to Jonathan Jackson, Oct. 2, 1789

  18. Greetings all - new user here, new Klipsch owner as well. Finishing a new home build, and wanted to get a solid mid-range HT setup for the family room. It's a large, open concept floor plan with the back and right side of the room being open to the main floor (~1,200 ft2 total open space on the main floor). I have been more into higher end car audio in the past, and have typically gone with the better options of the low range of HT setups to this point. For example, I've been running a ~$400 Denon and ~$400 JBL 5.1 setup the last 8 years or so. Have previously owned Kenwood, Sony, Yamaha, and Denon receivers, but all were the $200-$400 range models. Decided to pull the trigger on the new Klipsch-based HT setup for the new house, as I have always liked the presence and power they deliver - most other speaker sets I have heard sound a bit mellow for my tastes. Speakers in this build: (2) RP-280F, (1) RP-450C, (2) CDT-5800-C II, (1) R-115SW (Got excellent deals on these at Fry's - 30% off on all but the ceiling speakers) Intended use of system: Single room 5.1 (bi-amped fronts) for use with primarily movies (including 4K) Xfinity, Blu-ray, and via various streaming services. Also for use with Xbox One and occasionally music (Android devices). Tend to go with action/sci-fi oriented movies, various games, and music from Metallica and Volbeat to Fleetwood Mac. Features I care about (so far - still getting educated on options): Ability to bi-amp the fronts, 4K up-convert, clean and dynamic power and headroom to properly drive the new speakers with a "movie theater like" presence, quality digital to analogue up-convert, power and flexibility in the DSP department (setup, room correction, EQ, etc.). Bluetooth connectivity, and any Android specific features (Chromecast options would be a nice added touch). Features I am less concerned with: Not concerned about the size or weight, don't need anything Apple or wireless sound. I do not need onboard streaming in the receiver (lots of ways to stream already via accessories). Current price range: $800-$1,200 (though I do like the prices on the refurbs, and would consider that route) Models that seem to look good so far: Marantz SR5011, Pioneer Elite SC-LX501 For now I am in research mode, and plan to make a trip to the nearest Magnolia Design Center in the next week or so as well. Still a month out from completing the new house, so I have time to look. Open to suggestions and recommendations based on the above, and also to any thoughts on other features I should consider. Also looking for feedback on dealing with the likes of Accessories4Less for refurbs or open box options to either reduce the receiver budget or stretch it up to the next level of models. Appreciate any help and advice!

  20. Again, this is what I thought you were going to say. So what does this mean for FIR filters? Are they "veil-laden"? These filters use perhaps thousands of taps to define each filter. I think that perhaps that your experiences that led you to this conclusion must have been something that wasn't involved with digital filtering, but rather analog filters and poor analog output sections of DSP crossovers that can cause this effect--like the Behringer DCX2496, perhaps some on the 24/48 digital crossovers that you have used in the past. I don't agree with your assumption of the cause involving digital filters. You probably haven't heard any of the Xilica processors, or the Yamaha SP2060 dialed-in properly on a Jub with TADs, etc. Chris

  21. They make one - it's called a Forte III, Jubilee, Lascala, Heresy, Cornwall, etc.... Three Forte III's across the front would be awesome, and certainly not too high for the display to be above them.

  24. Was his cat? Heisenberg and Schrödinger get pulled over for speeding. The cop asks Heisenberg "Do you know how fast you were going?" Heisenberg replies, "No, but we know exactly where we are!" The officer looks at him confused and says "you were going 108 miles per hour!" Heisenberg throws his arms up and cries, "Great! Now we're lost!" The officer looks over the car and asks Schrödinger if the two men have anything in the trunk. "A cat," Schrödinger replies. The cop opens the trunk and yells "Hey! This cat is dead." Schrödinger angrily replies, "Well he is now."

  31. The only critique I have is you dont have any sound treatment materials listed. Even the best gear wont get close to its potential without at least basic treatment. Some absorption panels strategically placed will go along way depending on how your room is set up and what your significant other will allow.

  39. I have 18,000 sales on Etsy and have only had two minor issues with them since 2007. I would say you can feel pretty confident that 99% of the shops will be a good buying experience. The Etsy feedback system kind of stinks because only the buyer can leave feedback now, it used to be a two way street. I have seen shops buy from their competition and leave poor feedback just because they can. If a shop there has good feedback I would say you have very little to worry about. Tim

  42. I found it to be their marketing mumbo, when more then a couple of these "mom & pops say that their money was withheld for unfounded reasons Ill wait till more is known before dealing with there marketer. Find me an outside source that says claims against them are unfounded, Ill read it all. I am a little skeptical of big companies that "help" the little guy. Ive been ripped by a major CC company, they systematically were making me chase my money when it should have been deposited without question. I spent too much time chasing my funds, we no longer deal with this international company! And they don't care, we're a small fry in a huge pound, their attitude, sue us,,,,ha,,,,ha,,,ha,,,, Etsy is a facilitator, I get it. Or did I miss something?

  43. Apparently, you don't understand what Etsy actually is. It is a marketplace of many, many small businesses, comprised of, among other things, mom&pops/gift shops. Etsy is a facilitator for small businesses. You might want to read this to better understand. https://www.etsy.com/about
