  1. Evening Gents......last one for the night.

  2. i can assure you that isn’t something you’ll find me doing. Love my guitars, love creating music; but, performing ... not even the slightest desire. Have friends that love that aspect of music the most, they really enjoy it and it is very evident watching them onstage. I say “good for them.” At this point in my life, it’s therapy for me. The late Chris Squire of YES once told me that his bass practically played itself. Well, my wall of guitars and I have an agreement ... they can play themselves whenever they want, just don’t ask me to be there. Thanks for video -- always love hearing different covers of that song.

  3. Random question: Other than the NPRC in St Louis - does anyone have any suggestions for digging up WWII info? I was given my late grandfathers helmet and dress coat this summer and I would like to try to piece together as best I can where his battalion (if I'm lucky!) was and when. Does anyone have any experience researching these kinds of things? The huge fire in St Louis in '73 did no favors in this regard, but the internet is a marvelous thing. Happy Friday to the fellow working types! Cup o'Joe #2 is on board... cheers!

  4. I have an alternate route to get to work but it will pretty much double my commute. Unfortunately there's several bridges that way too. Fingers crossed the none of those collapse.

  5. Hi Bill. Hope you are doing well. Stange world -- what is killing people in Texas is the same thing that would save people here. My heart aches for those folks. On my drive today, heard on the radio about Beaumont losing fresh water -- immediately said a prayer for Carl.

  8. Seems like a great deal for RF-82 II with Free shipping. Once you add it to the cart, you will need today's Fry's Code. I noticed on the checkout, they were applying $77.00 shipping. I had to click another shipping option, then it gave me the option to select Free Shipping. http://www.frys.com/product/6680264

  12. Consequences nationwide: In West Virginia a week ago a gallon of gas was $2.29. Yesterday it was $2.49. Today it went to $2.59. My son said Myrtle Beach gas was $1.99 a week ago when he came home to WV for a vacation but he doesn't know current prices. He said MB gets their gas from the Gulf area and they are worried there will a gas shortage so people are keeping their gas tanks topped off and are filling up gas cans.

  13. Son here in Beaumont is staying at his in laws. I got a picture of his house yesterday and the water didn't reach it. There were about 10 houses out of about 70 in the subdivision that didn't flood. It'll be a week or so before he can reach his house without a boat. Daughter in The Woodlands didn't take on water so we're blessed.

  14. So let's see, Rockport on Monday, and then pick up friends in Austin on Wed. And drive them back to their house in Houston, drive their daughter back to airport in Austin, football game last night with son, and Austin is out of gas. You can get all of the diesel you want, however. Starbuck cafe Americano

  15. I hadn't heard that. I'm sure there'll be many more tragic stories before this is over. There are houses that are still unreachable. My little inconveniences that I'm experiencing pale in comparison to what's going on around me.

  21. Just to break things up a little I present a very underated album by an Australian band Genre would be new wave / synth pop In my opinion- This band was equal to - or better than the Pet Shop Boys and New Order One can't help but like every song track on the album Unfortunately pigeonholed as a one hit wonder with the still popular song Send Me An Angel - I know you all know it 😄 Artist - Real Life Title - Heartland

  31. Chuck my brother -- I’m still alive, surrounded by forest fires; but, still alive. I just got home a few hours ago, and there were flames not more than 25 yards from the highway. You can’t even see the mountains anymore. It was strange, it was like driving through fog; but, it was smoke. Doing a number on my lungs too --- with my Asthma. Air quality in my area has been declared “hazardous.” Yes, i’m still eating Del Taco and suppose I will for as long as there is one around.

  34. Some time ago, a month or 3, my new Mc MX151 refused to acknowledge audio or video HDMI input. Just got the word that Mc service gave it a clean bill of health; no errors. I was told that a software update was done even though when I called them originally I was told no updates were available. So I can now drive back to San Antonio to pick it up. Just another 5 hr round trip. Darn thing better work. I bought the matching MC8702 amp, still in box, to mate it with. New taller rack shelves arrived today to accommodate this oversized beast, New Klipsch due for delivery tomorrow. KHorns and Belle pickup by forum member due Saturday based on Houston conditions. Yo San Antonio folks grab the pre pro and bring it to me for a steak, beer and gas as I can't get up there for days.

  38. OK Chris, no matter how much I respect you, and I very much do, I must invoke the dreaded and penultimate "Triple Bullshit: Button", heretofore used only once long ago in the mists of time in a thread discussing Bose 901's. Sad, sad, sad. Shame, shame shame. As I type this I'm listening RTM to Dylan's sonic wonder, the soundtrack to his very bad movie, sonic nirvana, compilation, "Masked and Anonymous" This came out on cd and was re-issued on wax and if you think that I'm listening to the vinyl version out of nostalgia, you are sadly mistaken, because the vinyl kills, and I do mean kills, the cd version, both of which I've listened to probably a hundred times apiece on various gear. Put that aside for the nonce. Are you so contemptuous of your fellow vinyl loving audiophiles on this forum that would simply dismiss them as a bunch of nostalgic dunces incapable of discerning a b flat from a c sharp, a distorted mess from a full spectrum presentation. I've said t his before, you want complicated , forget vinyl playback, open up a cd player, which, gee has also has a motor spinning the playback. Or better yet open up a computer if you are into streaming. But thebes, computers have packet streaming so no chance of error, plus it's modern stuff built in China where nothing ever goes amiss. If steaming playback was so perfect why do I regularly get pixillated ghost images on my tv . Why when I'm steaming and the playback chokes over bandwidth, download speeds, network traffic etc. does my screen go momentarily dim and the video and sound lurches. Gosh that stuff couldn't possibly be happening to my vaunted zeros and ones which are more perfect than the nascent ice crystals from the last ice age, which were corrupted by analogue creatures. Come to think of it, I evoke quad, druple BS. As I type this my mouse is moving around the keyboard, a victim of random something or other on the internet, the god of steamers, a larger false god there may never be.
