Emerald hummingbird, one of pair. I think 3rd or more generation living near our house. When the sun hits it just right emerald turns bright red. I tried for several hours for this shot, it was a fluke. It just took off from the branch and I had autofocus on and clicked without seeing what I was getting. Hope to get a shot of the pair together or one hovering vertically. That will be nice.4 points

Went to see Floyd a few times in the mid 80's, without Waters, and when everyone started standing up and going nuts, at 2 of the shows, Gilmour simply told everyone to relax, sit down and enjoy the show, and paused long enough before starting, that they actually listened, which was fantastic.3 points

The show we went to was the Hell Freezes Over tour, it was a good show but that speech halfway through by Don Henely was aggravating, some even started booing it went on so long. Now Eric Clapton was just the opposite. He came to the stage and said Hello and started playing, halfway through he said thank you we will be back in a few minutes, at the end of the show he said thank you and goodnight, no other general talking. But a great show, and really long.3 points

They are amazing creatures. Fun to watch, they are so fast. But the vertical hover is best. Once in a blue moon the two will meet and hover in front of each other, then zoom they are gone. They seem curious too. Will come by and check us out. There are lots of plants / flowers for them and warm temperatures so they seem to be ok here.3 points

I remember protest songs.... the politics were in the music. We didn't have to suffer a speech3 points

Man, wearing a sombrero in the front row? Or in any row other than the absolute last row? That’s just rude.2 points

I've got one or two venue stories I could share but then I'd be like everyone else. I DO have an Eagle's story! hahaha Guy I know wanted 4 tickets for the second show in Cleveland one time. Now this guy is just a redneck straight shootin kinda guy. So he's about 5'7", with his wife and another couple I know. Sittin 2nd row center and this 6'4 black dude walks in w/his woman and sits in the first row. Perfect right? Down side is the guy had a big Mexican sombrero on. hahaha INSTANT limited visibility from row 2. So they're leaning around watching the show and the guy isn't wavering. Standin tall right in front of Joe and he's hot. He told me he reached up and put his hand on the guys shoulder and told him to sit down or take his hat off so he could see. hahahaha From that point on it wasn't a good night for Joe. hahaha I laffed HARD when he told me about it then told him he was lucky he was still alive. The guy was a DE for the Browns. hahahaha They loved the seats and the show though. lolol2 points

That’s great. I have respect for performers who want to see all of their audience (not “the crowd”) enjoying the show, not just the front couple of rows. Back in 1973 or so, I saw Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, which contained a sold-out house of about 22,000 fans. When a fight broke out in front of the stage, Frank stopped the music in mid-bar, with a gesture like a symphony conductor. He spoke directly to the combatants, saying that there would be no music if a fight was happening. Not surprisingly, people were yelling at the fighters to smarten up, totally supporting Frank. Things settled down within a few minutes, and Frank restarted the band with another gesture, in mid-bar, just where they had stopped! I gained even more respect for Frank Zappa that night than I already had. That’s how it’s done, unlike the example of some bands, who would have kept on playing, like the Stones at Altamont. That didn’t turn out too well at the time, and for some time after.2 points

"The Sky Is Falling." Seems to be a theme around here, between reading these "inflation" threads along with the encyclopedia of politically loaded signatures on this forum you'd think the sun was going supernova. New Heritage too expensive? Buy used. I did - best purchases in my audio life of 50 years. The Cornwalls I'll be busting out with this fall will be guaranteed to satisfy after a few mild improvements and tweaks, all garnered from this forum and others as to how best to make use of them. Heritage has increased in price every decade they have existed , save for maybe the used market in the early oughts. And the sun came up this morning. And no matter what you choose, they're all pretty much worth it 🙂2 points

It starts here, and what all monastery policy flows from, whether you are in the Friedman School or Keynesian school, or the various branches: The Phillips Curve, and modern refinements that take into account inflationary expectations. Do you adjust monetary policy (in the short term) to reduce inflation or unemployment? (Inflation and unemployment generally have an inverse relationship, but not always depending upon other factors including inflationary expectations). Periods of both high unemployment and high inflation we call "stagflation" - this is where the misery index came from in the 70s. See chart below:2 points

I’ve seen pix of cats inside the HF sections of La Scalas, and read that some like to walk in one side of the bass horn and out the other side.2 points

See, better than looking at fluffy girls in swim suits, or thinking about RW ideas, RW just play music and shut up. Reminds me of an Eagles concert we went to, half way through you got a 10 minute political speech.2 points

hey ... I just bought a six pack of Bitburger ... paid $12; but that's what I wanted. My brother used to live in Bitburg, Germany so when he moved back the States, he introduced me to Bitburger. Good stuff.2 points
