  1. The Klipsch Heritage line of speakers sound really good. If your current system is just okay, maybe you should check them out. 🤣

  4. My goodness, I've been off line for for just a couple of days, and so many nice albums were spinning here! Those Riverside Jazz vinyl records.... So jealous of them. I have some of them on CD, but I have been aware of the fact that I have few 'classic' jazz albums on vinyl. I started buying jazz records, only when CD was in full swing (pun intended), and now I have a rack full of classic jazz on... CD. Here are two exceptions... I love them...

  5. Time for some Latin jazz fusion It’s a release that needs careful listening as it’s complex, and a casual listen will disappoint Artist - Al Di Meola Title - Splendido Hotel Album ID - https://www.discogs.com/master/99743-Al-Di-Meola-Splendido-Hotel

  6. Closing the night out with a real nice Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, One Step, 45 rpm recording. This one is 1384 of 3000. I have only ever played it twice. That second time, I transcribed it over to two track, 15 ips, IEC equalization, magnetic tape. Bill Evans Trio - Sunday at the Village Vanguard.

  11. From Audibility of Group-Delay Equalization, Juho Liski, Aki Makivirta, and Vesa Valimaki, IEEE/ACM TRANSACTIONS ON AUDIO, SPEECH, AND LANGUAGE PROCESSING, VOL. XX, NO. X, JANUARY 2021: "The listening test contained four different signals: the unit impulse, the pink impulse, a castanet recording, and a synthetic hi-hat cymbal sound. The two former signals are known to be the most critical for group-delay audibility, whereas the latter two resemble real-life musical signals and thus help to generalize the results better. Group-delay audibility was tested at the frequencies 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 3 kHz, and 4 kHz. The results indicate that the audibility thresholds for local group-delay variation are less than ±1 ms [1 ms is approximately 13½ inches - Edgar] for the most critical signals, and approximately 1.5 ms to 4.5 ms for a local positive group-delay peak and between -1.0 ms and -2.3 ms for a local negative group-delay peak for real-life signals."

  12. I don’t think it’s a matter of most people hearing it and saying “wow, I can tell your mid/tweets are time aligned!” I think it’s a matter of when it’s right it sounds right and the stereo imaging(when using two speakers) through the crossover frequencies is that much clearer and everything sounds more cohesive.

  16. We are safe and dry for now Record collection is intact 😎 This flood is lower that the last 2 or 3 floods but the rain downpours lasting many days were simply massive - measured in feet per day We live 2 or 3 streets from the Brisbane river - I chose a block of land over 30 years ago that was slightly higher and not affected by earlier flood events Thats no guarantee we won’t be affected in the future

  20. Thank you for sharing that story! This was a Christmas gift from some close friends, usually they always bring vino, so this was nice AND different. We actually had the 100 year old edition ONCE, and that was a different and amazing thing altogether!!

  22. Thanks for joining in Mossy!! Again, last time I heard this was on the Klipschorns. I am really digging the low end of the Ortofon 'blue' cart. The Martin Logan 1600x is responding nicely. Ok, DISC 1 Side A in progress here too. 🍷

  27. Thread update. Well, after moving from Calgary to Victoria with the Sony PS-T22, it met the Luxman R-117. Both played very well and I've enjoyed the LPs, few they are, that we have so far. Then, out of the blue, a Luxman PD-289 became available on a Canada Audio Mart listing. Long story short it is now connected to the Luxman R-117 and I'll be selling the Sony. The cartridge on the Luxman is a Vessel A3SE MM type. The Luxman PD289 is not as well known as other 2xx series and doesn't command the $$$, so I was able to buy it for what I felt was a good price. The seller was excellent and packaged it up to survive Canada Post! Very happy with the sound Luxman to Luxman to Heresy. Lovely. Perhaps my search is over for now. Maybe a better cartridge somewhere down the road when I'm truly foolish(er).

  28. For sure, having the three horn mouths in the same plane and using a digital crossover to adjust for the time errors would be the best way. With my tweeter on the back edge of my LS, I could never detect the reflections off the top of the cabinet. But I sat with my head slightly below the top, so there is that. Krock has the tweeter and mid aligned, but that setup would need to hang way off the back to included aligning with the woofer. At least it's not an MWM woofer bin.

  29. I smoked some pork butt last night. I went out to check it at 3:30am when I woke up to put a load of laundry in the dryer. I had it wrapped in baking parchment at that point and it was perfect, nice and tender with a lot of moisture. Pic from earlier in the day.

  30. My blind tests proved otherwise.

  31. No, it would be further back. You would need to add the two measurements in blue. It would need to be to the acoustic center of the woofer.

  38. Same. Full Atmos HT upstairs 7.2.4, 2.1 downstairs. Except 3 computers in the office with their own speakers. 2 with Klipsch, and one with old Radio Shack.

  39. The mid/tweeter alignment is more audible and more critcal than the woofer/mid alignment. Once you hear it locked in, why would you move it back. It was very audible and an improvement to the overall sound.

  43. Hi mates 🙂 what shall I tell you ? The modem has been blown and it wasn´t so easy to get a new one quickly, than I´m busy with cable contract works , beeing busy to redesign my racks to build in the new dynaco pas 4 tube pre ( the modifiyed is a killer @Full Range ) had done 8 sets of diy rca cables and some new power cords as well for my own gear / purposes. The funny thing is ....since I have finished the hardware works on the Micro Seiki TT ....there really wasn´t any time to spin a single record Meanwhile I´m listening digital sources with the DYNACO Tube Pre and the Marantz SS Power Stage, what a dream team ..I can tell ya....... So , it was just a quick chim´in to let you know that I´m a live . Once I have finished all my works I´ll be here more often again.
