  1. It´s passion and the love to audio technology and music, that´s why I´m doing all these upgrates . Example my RF 7 EvoTec´s will guide me till the end of my days. Had some audio friends here , one of them offered me close to 20K€ for them . Not for sale.

  2. Better get this up in case anyone's interested. Got this Saturday and it's amazingly good. Mastered @ Abbey Road plus it's a HALF-SPEED. Soooo, if ya have an extra $50 in communion stash you too can kick back and enjoy some Police. Not a fan? Well suck it up buttercup. Look at it this way. You've got it all and it'll be impressive. Stewart Copeland is right there on side 1 but when side 2 kicks in you're gonna truly like him if you don't now. He's captivating and it's a great ride. Pretty amazing listen also. I don't think it could get much better. Got my double thumbs up!

  3. MicroMara, excellent read. Buying into another MC is for the best of my SME 309/9.5gm & the Cadenza/10.7gr.. I felt it was a good match. Now moving iron, being Sound Smith or Grado nothing really came up to positive with my 309. I felt with my speakers & my system I needed to mellow things out a lil. After The 50hr mark I should know if the Black would be a keeper. Already the music I know,& what to listen for, I hear with my 311 horns. The base is now more there (defined) with the Black, & the mid base has already improved over the Hana. The Hana is no slouch & plays bad recording better then the Black. Now mind you, I switched the arms Between my tables, maybe in the future the 1210 arm on my 1200 would be a better match for a moving iron. I have AT 150 mlx on there now & it sings (fine match). Now if anyone says that LaScalas have no base, send them here!

  5. @Dave1291 & @JohnJ & @Full Range, & @KROCK, & @MeloManiac, @dirtmudd, happy easter to you . I´m still awake, because I checked the Elko Values from my Dynaco PAS 4 Tube Pre , because I gonna change them with Nichicon Muse or Elna Silmic II Series. Since two hours I trying to find the values needed, looks bad , here in the States ..no problem ,but in europe we got so much material delivery delays</problems . Becomes difficult for me to change them quickly . On the other hand ..by the end of this week , my serviced tonearms are back and than I got enough to do with my TT , need to change all Headshells with all my Cartridges , have to decide which Pick Up for which Headshell fits on which Tonearm. Than I have to alligne them according to Bearwald, Lofgren or Stevensen Geometry . 😇

  6. self-inflicted.. Ortofon & Hana ...if you likethese MC´s that´s fine , did you thought about these things ... MM and MI cartridges have a higher needle compliance than MC cartridges, these have a more stiffer needle compliance Low compliance = hard suspended systems = values between 6 and 12 µm/mN Medium compliance = medium hard/medium soft suspended systems = values between 11 and 22 µm/mN High compliance = soft suspended systems = 22 to 30 µm/mN Very high compliance = very soft suspended systems = 30 to > 40 µm/mN Tonearms can be roughly classified according to the following scale Ultra light tonearm: 4 to 5 grams Lightweight tonearm: 6 to 9 grams Medium-weight tonearm: 9 to 15 grams (most of the arms used today) Heavy tonearm: 19 to 24 grams Very heavy tonearm: 25 grams and more Tonearm and cartridge as spring-mass system The mentioned values/classifications are important because the combination of tonearm and cartridge represents a spring-mass system. Like all classic spring pendulums, such a combination has a natural frequency that depends on the hardness of the spring and the mass of the whole system. This is the famous "moving mass", and only this is decisive: If the hardness of the spring increases (i.e. with lower compliance), the resonant frequency increases. If, in turn, more mass is added, the resonant frequency decreases. The excitation of the mass-spring-system and the consequences Now what happens if you excite this mass-spring-system with its natural frequency? Logically: it resonates, so that the oscillation becomes extremely upsetting. These oscillations in turn superimpose other frequencies. They lead to disturbances or booming and color the sound image or restrict the exact reproduction of the music. Don´t know if you know this thread @KROCK you may have a look if you want , have fun

  7. Long time ago he was an Eskimo character in the movies, think Frank Zappa re-incarnated him for some of his stories! *Those Eskimos are Inuit and Nanook was a Polar Bear Spirit or something like that George!

  9. Only someone who hasn't heard the new Jubilee would make such a comment. I've had the great privilege of hearing the new Jubilee twice now, last October at JubFest and in March at the PWK Birthday Bash. All the attendees at JubFest were Underground Jubilee owners or their significant others except for me. (I was invited because I had put in my preorder for them in May of 2021.) It was the unanimous opinion that the new Jubilee with its "horn-loaded vented system" bass bin was a significant improvement in every way over the Underground Jubilee. Anyone thinking Roy would do anything "half-baked" is being ridiculous. Also, it's not like this is the first implementation of the horn-loaded vented system. Ask all the Underground Jubilee owners who purchased a KPT-1802-HLS (or the smaller 1502) cinema subwoofer to fill in the bottom octaves what they think of them.

  12. Anyway. I purchased a Cadenza Black w/15hrs. on it last weekend. Since then I put another 20 hrs. on it. Hate going thru these changes, but I'm sure the pain will pay off, hopefully in about 15 more hrs.. From what a read, some say 50hrs. & some said 80 to 100 hrs.. 'CHEESE N RICE' My Hana ML just came to life after 200hrs. I hope the Black doesn't take that long. Hope the Hamster can hold out that long. 😁

  14. @MicroMara That "friend"? Does he not realize that your "Long Live the Queen" speakers were a labor of love for your music? To the other story going on here for a day or so there is one moral to take heed of: Don't f with Nanook!

  16. No No Dave it´s not Nils , I know you were kidding 😃, Lofgren, Baerwald ( @JohnJ No No not David Bearwald 😂 ) and Stevenson produced identical and exact equations for optimum offset angle and optimum overhang. BTW ...I got all Elkos that I need, they´re from Nichicon not Elma ! In addition I ordered 11 Mundorf Evo Caps to be changed for the Wima Caps. Than the project on the Dynaco Pas 4 Tube Pre amp is completed. Well Dave ...the first moddy on the Pas 4 was so clearly audible that it was a must for me to do the second step as well. Let you know when it´s done.

  21. Yea among the great voices @Shiva mentioned that kid has got some talent to make as much music as he can all by himself. Wonder what he'd do with a band onstage with him? Never seen that Toast movie have to look for it when I'm in the mood for a dramatic one that it looks likely to be.

  25. I'll buy that but the only thing I know about Pokeman anything is about 20 years ago the neighbor girl and my two were playing under a tree out back. I started the cub cadet up to mow and the neighbor girl told me to not run over her Pokeman chips they were playig with in the grass. I told her to pick them up cause I wasn't mowing around them. She got all cutesy with me. The second lap around the house the were still laying in a pile so I mowed over them and just kept on driving. Spit chunks of those chips everywhere. Wanna talk melt down? She did get even though I had just finished a Mario game on the "kids" Nintendo 64. I was all proud of myself. When I was done naturally I fired up the Nintendo. She'd erased my game. Lil red headed witch she was. Still laffs at me about it. lol Moral to the story? There isn't any or is there? 😂 Lil witch!

  26. Installed some solid white oak verticals that I ripped in-lieu of the 3/4" veneered glued verticals that seemed too weak. Added some extra items for smoother sound wave direction (corner 45's and split side supports) IMHO.

  31. You mean the "ported bass horn half-baked" solution? (A quote from another forum member, which I disagree with)
    1 point
  32. CWOReilly is giving you good advice. I would check the freebies first. Back panel screwed in good and all drivers as well. The mid horn gasket gets hard over time and can make exactly that kind of noise. Something many overlook is a frequency generator. $50 bought a good used one for me off ebay and you can use them to check your cabinet and all components for buzz and rattle. Again great advice. I have some music that did just this until I gave up trying to fix or find a good copy and threw the junk out. He has covered every base for you and if all fails an ohm meter and your newly acquired frequency sweep generator will tell the tale on a bad diaphragm.

  33. I won this unique print on a forum auction used to raise money for charity Wolf Print from original Painting by Carole A. Thompson The wolf Cerridwen is a female and was born in April, 1994. She comes from an unusual line of breeding in that she is friendlier than most wolves. She was painted by Carol Thompson, a very talented local (Arizona) artist who specializes in wolves and Native Americans. The original photo that she painted from is a picture of Cerridwen with her paws on the top of her den box peeking over the top

  35. @Dr Morbius P.S. If the room is going to double as a home theater (and why not?), I recommend an acoustically transparent screen, with an aspect ratio of about 2.35:1 to accommodate almost all 12 aspect ratios. Seymour makes good ones, in a variety of custom shapes. Ours is 130" image width, but yours could be larger, and if the audience is at the tip of a 60 degree equilateral triangle, the screen could either be between the K-horns, or in front of them, filling the entire wall, where few have gone before. We can fill our screen top to bottom, and whatever width the aspect ratio dictates (called "Common Height"). with all but Ultra (not Super) Panavision 70, Camera 65, and the temporary AR of CinemaScope, pre-1957, before they added more soundtracks. The felt borders of the screen make all other true widescreen (2.21:1 or greater; the measly 16:9 or 1.78:1 of most TV screens is narrower than most American narrow screen) ARs usable with no black bars top or bottom. Since you like Star Trek, most ST movies are 2.40:1 (if you see one in 70mm, it will probably be 2.21:1). Also, the closing music of The Wrath of the Khan (during the end credits) has some of the best imaging ever (even though it has fairly thin bass). How good is it? My wife and I walked up and stood a few inches from the screen, between the Khorns, and could point at each instrument group -- no holes.

  41. To be fair, the CS team did not have that schematic until today... They have rules in place to keep production information in house...If the amp is in production, don't give out the schematic. The main EE that would have been able to answer your question was in China when you contacted us. Who ever you contacted just didn't think to ask me. I would have sent you the info about the part, with out sending the schematic. As you state in your post, it is a 100k Ohm part. As for parts, we don't have any for that amp, or for most any amp we build. They are all vendor replaceable or outside repair or buy a new amp. It's not like the old days when we kept board level parts in stock. So, IF they would have had the schematic and could have found the part info, they still could not send you a part. THX1215.pdf

  44. Larry, The local Radio station that plays classical may have something they would bring for us to use. I also know that there is a pip organ builder here in Indy and of a church that has a organ that has close to that 32' pipe. I just hope we get to hold the pilgrimage...there has been no talk yet. I am sure with all that is going on, it is not on the radar.
