  2. Today I visited the Bastogne War Museum in Belgium. Outside the main building, there was a temporary exhibition about Berlin, with the Berlin Wall (Iron Curtain) as a topic, with artwork AND rock artists inspired by Berlin city. If you're interested, here is a little challenge: who are the artists in the pictures below, and do you have any vinyl records from their Berlin-period? https://www.bastognewarmuseum.be/en/home-en/

  4. And this break in argument goes on and on. Who really cares who's right. If you listen to your speakers long enough they will break in if that is what they need to do. I have my opinion on break in but do not want to join this party. I think this horse has been beaten enough with no clear verdict. Let's find something else to argue about.

  7. Hit, inhale and pass it on George! 😂 I'm on a roll today! We be rockin! Jack Mack and the Heart Attack is an American soul and R&B band that was formed in 1980 in Los Angeles, California. Their debut album, Cardiac Party, was produced by Glenn Frey of The Eagles on Irving Azoff's Full Moon Records/Warner Bros. label. They are known for performing in and writing songs for many major motion pictures and television shows as well as being the house band for Fox TV's The Late Show. They were the band that was performing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia when a pipe bomb exploded near the sound tower.

  9. Time to step it up a bit with this fantastic album. Police or not it just kicks butt! Bucklled up and helmet on @KROCK? 😂 Gonna make you a repeat offender yet! 😂 Memories of an old high school buddy who followed his dream. Intelligent, likeable and one of he best drummers back in the day w/his gold flake Ludwig kit. Had everything that went with it and used them all. Moved to NYC and became Copeland's drum tech. He'd ALWAYS stop over when he came home to see his fam. Laffs and stories every time. Stopped the last time to tell me he had cancer and was on the way out. EVERY show in Cleveland I got to hang with him and the big boys. Kinda like drinking Scotch. Ya have to develop a taste for it but when you're there? So yea, this is for him this weekend. Imma cookin it too! Wow, just found this from back in the day. David and I both followed our dreams. He made it and I'm still spinning! Simple. 😂 https://www.buckeyebeat.com/daybreakers.html More nutso stuff. The Rolls used in the photo was owned by a local banker who was one of the primary founders/funders of the Julliard School of Music. I even know the house they used in the pics. Insane to see something I never knew existed. Crazy! 😂

  12. I rewired my speakers (between the passive 6KHz crossover and the mids and tweeter drivers) with Neotech UP-OCC solid core, monocrystal copper. If you have to laugh, laugh, but that wire is a big upgrade. I realize there's a tendency on this forum to mock people who buy audiophile cable, and that is a pity (not talking about you here, just in general). Of course Klipsch speakers will work with lamp cord. They will work with just about any wire you will throw at them. But the context in which those heritage speakers are used may vary greatly. A system with 1970s LaScala and a vintage receiver isn't the same context as a pair of LaScala AL5 used with, say, a high end SET amplifier or a class A Nelson Pass design. They have one thing in common, they are both super cool and sound superb to their respective owners. But that's about where the comparison stops. in the first system, it may seem to make little sense to upgrade the cables. In the second one, it would make little sense NOT to use something, at least, made for audio - and if the user wants to spend a fortune on it, so be it. And then there's everyone in-between those two situations. I'm a sucker for audio cable. I've tried many, at various prices. I'm poor, so it never costs as much as a small bike. The cable I use throughout my system now is made in China, is multiple separated solid core wires, silver plated, teflon insulated. They make interconnects out of it, speaker cable, power cables. I have an actively bi-amped system and there's a massive amount of wires, all by the same maker. I'v tried many brands (or brandless) before and this is the very best I've owned so far. All in all I must have around 500USD invested in the current cable loom. It may sound like a lot, but it's actually a very small amount for such fantastic wire. But yeah if it was made by Nordost in the USA they would charge you a fortune for it. I'm not gonna go into a fight with anyone here, but for me cables are just another element of the system. They definitely add a color; they can be "zingy", they can be bright, they can be dull. They can be transparent or they can be thick and dark. The wire I use now is very transparent, a tiny tiny bit bright, and lets the qualities of the recordings and of the electronics shine through. What I'm trying to saying is, you can't try a "fancy" cable just once, not hear a difference, and then decide cables are a rip-off. And, worse, you can't make fun of something you haven't experienced yourself. Context is everything. Live and let live. It's a free world, and never anyone was FORCED to spend money on "fancy" cable. But if you wanna do it, do it.

  13. 47 more added today. I need to put together an accurate count and a full list, but I'm up to about 175 original theatrical posters covering the past 50 years. No fakes, all from solid sources to ensure authenticity. Only started collecting them this month. Pretty good start though.

  23. Back when I had hbo I tried to watch it but only made it through a couple episodes for some reason. That one didn't "reel me in" like the other did. Heck after three or four episodes, the strings opening the show started to choke me up. The old soldiers commenting on the storyline had a lot to do with that too. I had relatives I never knew that were over there and did not come back. Heard stories of them as a kid.

Forgot to order in time and my place in South America has my new favorite back in stock. It will take as usual ten days to get here... got an unopened lb plus the grinder hopper's almost full. Need to make sure I don't run out and I'm pushing it close this time.

  27. I try to not think about it.The tank on this little car only holds 10 gal... Shopping around doesn't make a big difference. Maybe a dollar per tank... and the car gets 45 -50 mpg. I feel like I should be doing something... Have another cup of coffee. I don't think that is what I should be doing.. but, that is what I'm gonna do. IF I am going to do anything, I best get on it while it's cool. Oh.. too late. The sun came up. It will be a good weekend to stay home.... like I go anywhere. The trip to Tucson was enough for a while.

  29. I'd hurt myself! 😂 Survived jam nite. This lil chick I know got up to sing the last couple songs so I wound up coachin her. hahaha Only about 6-8 ppl there cause they usually quit at midnight. She's great looking but knows me pretty well. She's a lil lovey dovey sanger trying to hammer rock. She ALWAYS wants to know what I think so I tell her she sucks cause that's not the way to present herself doing rock. So I tell her every week. Tonight after listening to her butcher "Me and Bobby McGee" I'd had enough. Then she re-appears to cap off the night. She kept looking at me so I blew a gasket. Got up and walked right in front of her clapping my hands to the beat and telling her to belt it out and not try to slide into it. It wasn't meant to humiliate her but to get her to delver. Amazed me cause she listened and her delivery was great. Even the guys in the band were impressed and grinning at me. All her friends told her it was fantastic. THEN she tells me she could never hear herself. Right, like they're gonna buy you monitors? Wimmen! It was just fiends there when I did it. They were all thanking me and grinning. Durn kids anyway. I've known her and her family forever. lol

  33. One thing you can always count on, when there is a buck to be made people will pile on. Take the vinyl revival. There's the usual actors: record companies, distributors, manufacturers, the media in all it's various forms, and then the mega corps. Yup the big guys, the people with no shame, no morals, no game but to play the game and with their faithful servants on Madison Avenue, no need to actually understand anything about it, nor derive any pleasure from it. So what's got you pissed off now Thebes? Well a picture is worth a thousand words, or so they say:

  35. STK Powerpacks or Darlington IC Chips sound fantastic in low wattage amps under 80 wpc , they are reliable , long lasting , in comparison to discrete parts that require replacement every 20-30 years , IC chips can last forever , one can drive an IC chip amp , for 40-50-60 years plenty on Ebay for 10$ , easy to replace , are they better than AB discrete amps , maybe not , but they are still great amps

  45. Too bad we can't put two reactions out there << was my second one. If I had seen all of those superstars... nope I still can't dance `cept for a few TX bands or like UFO. Paul I talked about expressos in that post but meant cappuccinos like what you had made! I'll stick with the black and add milk if it's still around at lunchtime. I spent so much on grinders over twenty years I went full tilt with a Rancilio talked about at the old CCC thread. Once you get an Italian performance machine you can not go back! Heck I won't ever need to!

  46. @JohnJ Modesty? Me? hahaha As a youngin I learned early on in Detroit to keep your mouth shut and listen. Motown was goin down and the Roostertail Super Club was all black. It didn't stop me at all. Everyone, well most everyone, knows now it's not about color it's about what someone brings to the table. Then w/Stevie Wonder being blind and doing the great stuff he did it all just meshed. It was more than Stevie though, Temps, Tops, Aretha, Supremes, even Ray Charles once or twice. The walls came down going up there and once people had seen you there a couple times then found out you dove 2 hours to come there it was different. Heck Barry Gordy even had Grand Funk under his wing. It DID NOT MATTER to any of us. We did our thing. I just never stopped. My town had about 3 black families and one of my classmates in high school was black. He even rode up with me a few times. Great guy who passed about 25 years ago. Don't know if he ate the brown acid or not but whatever it was totally wrecked him for life. I got a collect call once from him and found out he was in an assisted living home about 40 miles away. He was having a flashback about going with me to the Roostertail and wanted to tell me about how much fun we had. i sat with him for about 2 hours on the phone listening before he hung up. I got a couple more calls years apart then someone saw his obit and put the word out. It was ALWAYS CKLW in Detroit with the mix of Motown and early rock. I went totally outside the box when it came to music. Ran the table back then and knew many. H3ll we were ALL kids gettin our groove. I just kept going and going and going. Doubt I'll ever stop either. Yea, I'm nuts but am I really??? Funny, our 55th class reunion is coming up this fall. Someone said I should bring my rig out and play in this farmer's barn who was in our class. I passed and said "letls just have the 60th at my place. By then the hood would be able to join in w/us. hahaha I ain't movin squat BUT deep down inside? Yea, I'd LOVE TO KICK SOME A$$! Just say no! Now ya'll got another slice of my life. 😂 Time for MicroMara to jump in w/some wild disco/lighting tales. He ain't no rookie nor is he a Saint! Now spill it George! It's family shootin the bull and they gotta be getting bored w/my crap! Paul, you''re in the on-deck circle too. Cause I KNOW you got em! 😂 Since they're from down under it should be a piece of cake for ya! I'm off to jam nite. BBL
