  1. You Sir, may byte me! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ FYI my Linn dude puts a couple lil arrows on my belt so every year I just flip it. Told me it would last about 5-10years that way. On year 3 and just flipped it last week. Last I checked it was running @ 33.32 rpm's. Cart hours? Logs? Nickle dime stuff? Blah! You obviously need something to do with your spare time. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

  2. If you donā€™t like or get that we will NOT support supposedly ā€œupgradesā€ from unapproved third parties, then thatā€™s your problem. Take it to their websites or others. Not here. Iā€™ve cleaned this up. I have very little tolerance for this. I know Mr K did as wellā€¦.:

  12. Correct. I think ā€œshoehornedā€ would be the correct nomenclature. they are supposed to be wired in series/parallel with one woofer in each pair wired as if they were out of phase since they are facing the same direction. This should put everything correctly in phase while reducing 2nd order distortion due to balancing out any driver nonlinearities and vibration. or whatever. I donā€™t think the original version that Dennis made was ever measured and this might only be the second time anyone has tried this. The specs on the woofer suggest that it will work well but the plenum chamber firing into the throat can also act as a low pass filter and I havenā€™t really modeled that part of it in Hornresp.

  13. Today I also replaced the original woofer with the replacement. The originals were 1001-Ks after all, which in the end makes no difference here. Some pics: As you can see, here too, the replacements (left) are beefier and heavier than the original. This seal was missing on the other woofer. Replaced on both sides with adhesive sealing-tape which was left over from the Heresies. Now the fun part - make some noise and listen!

  15. You have four 8 inch woofers in there... correct?
    2 points
  16. Were your woofers damaged? Did they rub or distort? If not, you wasted money. What made you think the crossovers were "tired"? That a really unusual description that conveys little data. Did the speakers sound distant, dull, forward? The capacitors may have degraded after 40 years, and maybe not. I had a '67 H700 that didn't need new caps and a '68 that did. Since you did not state what you "upgraded", we can't begin to offer a guess. I sincerely doubt your diaphragms need replacement. My 1980 La Scalas have their original diaphragms (and woofers). If they are deficient, I can't detect it. In fact, the old, square magnet woofers are said to be a better match to the bass horn than the newer round magnet K-33s. Now, there are improvements you might make to a La Scala that are too expensive or of too little benefit for the factory to implement but that is for another time.

  18. I'd just shuffle some things around a bit moving the Heresy's into position and enjoy them right now. Throw some favorites at 'em and kick back. Let your ears be your guide and relish the moments. You may not even like them but I can't really say I know anyone that doesn't like PWK's gems that has them. Save that egg money for a pair of Cornwalls or LS down the road. Poppycock? hahaha Just let the drooling begin now and enjoy. You can always A/B both pair or just switch them around for a different sound if you want. PWK's speakers will take ya for a ride and a half so enjoy. Klipsch gear is a lot like fishin. That pair of Heresy of yours just took the bait the bobber went down and ya jerked 'em out. It get's worse on the wallet down the road cause ya gotta be that king fisherman. Ya go from worms to minnows, then to cut bait and fish the deeper waters. How long can you hold your breath? Want outta the stream, lake and into the ocean? Don't forget your life jacket! lolol Crank 'em and chill. Step at a time. šŸ˜‚

  19. Thank you so much for posting this fix! And thank you to the other person for posting the link to Amazon, that's where I ordered the power supply from, it shipped and was in my hands in less than 2 days. I swapped it out with the old failure of a power supply and it works perfectly now! The best part is that this system was given to me for free so the total cost for this system was 15 bucks! Thanks again all, I appreciate you! Michael C.

  25. we had a rainy day today , after I finished my houseworks I started to spin some records .. thanx for the inspiration @Full Range next was Santana 3 ( Batuka ) followed by Wishbone Ash " Front Page News " and after dinner I spun the german " Genesis " Triumvirat with " Illusion on a double dimple " now IĀ“m done šŸ˜‚ btw , I reactivated my Audio Technica AT 7 V today . As itĀ“s a hard complied cantilever it needs a heavy tonarm to perform on itĀ“s best level, so I used a 15 Gram Headshell and a second counterweight on my MA 505 MK II Tonearm to get it work, I can tell you buddies ...it rocks ! want to mention that IĀ“m waiting for the deliverence from another famous cart , will tell you w/in the next few days, thought it arrives today, but it will be delivered early next week

  27. Well, everyone knows Roy and Klipsch could care less about support for vintage Heritage. They will lie, mislead and do whatever it takes to get you folks to drag them to the curb and buy new speakers. Klipsch also has an incompetent engineering department thatā€™s afraid of being shown up by third party vendors, where the super smart people work - thatā€™s why they donā€™t want us talking about them here! All of them networks look just like Klipsch so they must still be Klipsch! Yes yes I know the parts are all different and it sounds different but prove to me itā€™s different! Itā€™s a factory spec upgrade! šŸ¤Ŗ lmao. Some of you have lost your damn minds.

  28. Areovox can (Mylar film) compared to new Klipsch OEM Mylar and Sonicap. Chasing lowest ESR possible is also an incorrect approach for vintage rebuilds, where the rule is ā€œreplace part with like partā€.

  29. Read where? That would only apply to electrolytics exposed to high voltages and/or heat. They can last a surprisingly long time in a loudspeaker network. Film types can last 50 years or more, which is how old the cans are. They may not be as good as new, but nothing to panic over unless they are leaking or you notice a problem - usually low tweeter output. Still, I encourage people to replace them instead of waiting for them to leak or fail. 20 years for film capacitor death is bs.

  30. I second what Bubo wrote and what I think you've "cleaned" up*. I had wonderful experience exchanging correspondence with PWK back in the 70s and love my Khorns. A while a go I asked for some advice e on hooking up a center speaker with my amp that on has only a left and right output and was disappointed that no official advice came from Klipsch through this forum. PWK himself published a workaround to my question years ago, but now I guess it's no longer in official interest to help legacy owners. I was seriously interested in the forthcoming subs, but now I think I'll pass. Quite disappointed in the attitude.

  31. All of the above, especially the last one. Simply pure myth, hatched in the minds of those who believe that their intuition is equivalent to factual reality and not understanding that correlation doesnā€™t equal causation.

  35. People ask for proof, and when you give it to them, they donā€™t listen. It doesnā€™t matter how many times or ways you explain it to them. Measurements were provided here, for both capacitors and autotransformers. I just posted ESR measurements on the Vintage Klipsch Fans Facebook page a few days ago. No one really cares, either due to confirmation bias, or simply an inability to grasp the implications. I was going to post Boxlerā€™s amazing results on the autoformer with some of my own measurements. I have decided not to waste my time. Itā€™s an exercise in futility. Considering what has transpired here over the last year it is astonishing that there are still people who think that nothing has been proven or discussed at length.

  37. Personally Iā€™d just wipe down cabinets and horns with a damp cloth to start with. Someone else will suggest a preservative. As for the grilles try a vacuum cleaner first. I wonā€™t recommend a tech for a check up. Listen for yourself. I downloaded a tone generator app so I can check the frequencies. If all the drivers work just enjoy them!

  38. So, Epilogue to the Galveston trip. Turns out my DP, Darren Mercer, was holding out on me. He is an RN, MD candidate, licensed pilot, and former driver at thee 67 Speedway. Might have needed all three last night except for the Grace of God...who sent Darren to keep me alive. So, close to midnight we are headed north towards TXK and just south of Fouke on I-49. He's been driving us around since we left TXK on Friday as he was ecstatic about the car. I was worn out and decided to take a nap. He, like many, had decided I just didn't know how to drive and was delusional about the car trying to kill me on Supercruise. So, he engaged it at 80mph. A short time later I found myself being thrown from side to side in the car and the world spinning. After what seemed an eternity it stopped and Darren looked at me and said "It just tried to kill us and damn near did." I thank a merciful God for saving us and sending me Darren to ensure I not only survived but will be endowed to take care of His people. Orr will be picking me up very shortly to start the process. I strongly suggest that if you own a GM car, DO NOT engage Supercruise or adaptive cruise.

More clouds are approaching from west Texas. For the Four States Area, a 50% chance of light or moderate snow through noon Thursday. Warming to 60 by Friday and staying that way for months. Enjoy your winter now, homies!
