  3. Thank you @Full Range Yes tonight is just let down, even if the music room has become more of a project room this week, but with two amps on the bench ATM the shop is unavailable, thus where better to do design than in the realm of audible pleasure. Yes Yes, I know... I know; I do not need another TT like I need a hole in my head LOL

  6. I haven't posted in a bit, a lot of things interfering with the pleasure aspect, ehh admittedly they are also pleasure aspects as well, I will get a pic or two up later on this. I have many many of the AR XA apart and being reassembled but haven't posted here since they relate but are not playing the vinyl. Procal Harem, Broken Barricades

  9. What a living treasure trove, WoW! I immediately feel at home, wouldn't have a moment's peace and would immediately start to restore all audio components to their best technical and visual condition. Now you have enough time for that , be glad that you´re in retirement now , that´s a challange , can´t be better @Tim Sr. ☺️

  15. @Cal Blacksmith Pilgrimage is pretty much dead. They get together on PWK birthday now and I have not been but it does not appear to be anything like the old pilgrimages. And it is more than Covid that caused its demise IMO.

  18. I caught Jason Bonham's first tour about 30 years ago in Columbus, Ohio and what a disappointment. Then saw him do this that night and was amazed. He soooo stepped up his game. One truly amazing tribute. Just looked. They played w/the Cult and Dangerous Toys on Jan 21st 1990 @ Veterans Memorial Coliseum. After seeing that lineup I wonder what possessed me to get tickets. lol 😂

  19. I’ve been down this rabbit hole myself, tried RC-64Iii with La Scala’s, short answer third La Scala, I agree with the others a third Forte for your center is best. Nothing else will work as well.

  20. The Forte iv will be better because it's a perfect match. I wouldn't even consider the RC64lll unless you're pairing it with RF7llls.

  25. There has been way too much that has happened since my last post. Shortest story, we moved to Rockmart Georgia in December 2021, I lost my wife of 41 years in August of 2022 and I have slowly, very slowly been moving in. I just got around to setting up the music room and it has been awesome to get back to great audio. There is so much more work to do but music breaks are awesome. Rosewood Khorns and vinyl with all tube amplification. Is there still an annual Klipch gathering in Hope or has that been a victim of the "cough"?

Wait! What about @KROCK & @dirtmudd? Nah theyre smarter than that! Maybe! 😂 Wait! I forgot @the real Duke Spinner! I KNEW I forgot someone! No leaf duty today but Robin Hood's out riding thru his forest getting more for the street so they can blow my way. Think Imma gonna boycot it all next year then reseed in the spring. I'm retired let 'em all blow like the rest of the hood. Been here 20 years and not once did Robin Hood have his trees trimmed. Ditto for the kid next door. Time to turn over a new leaf!

  30. I'm spending my first night with an A-s1200 paired with my Forte IV's and I'm quite surprised at how good the pairing is. I generally prefer tube amps however the midrange on this pairing is really excellent. Nice clean sound. Tight bass. Zero fatigue or brightness. I realize op's budget is well beyond this amp, so I imagine the A-s2200 and 3200 would be even better. But this is a really nice sound. I bought the 1200 to power some Dynaudio Speakers in my bedroom however I thought I'd give the amp a go with the Fortes and I'm quite impressed. Maybe a slightly smaller soundstage and less "in the room" magic of the Cary Audio sli-80 tube amp it replaced. However, it's a lot closer than I imagined. Great volume control on this amp, which is a big deal with our highly efficient speakers.

  31. As an alternative, car panel removal tools can slip in and free the stuck seals. They're plastic so relatively safe for the wood. I'd suggest prying in the direction of the grain to minimize the possibility of damage. I use these in my job and they are effective. I purchased a cheap set from Harbor Freight.

  37. The Heresy IV should sound wonderful. While I've be configuring some larger horn speakers. I've been using my older Heresy II speakers in a large room, 20 x 22 feet with 9 ft ceilings. The Heresy IIs sound great.

  38. I heard my first Cornwall of any version this past summer, CW IV. After hearing them twice, I was thinking I might want them instead of my new 2013 Khorns. I thought they were amazing. Then something happened. My Anthem AVM70 had a firmware update which messed up the Anthem for a few weeks. I was then forced to connect my VPI Prime Signature to my McIntosh C50 and MC302. Oddly enough, the sound was better than I have ever heard from my system. No subwoofers available or the Anthem Room correction SW, ARC. Thanks to the firmware update, I am not interested in the CW IVs for my main system anymore. But, if I had a second AV room I would buy the CW IVs for sure. I would highly recommend the CW IVs for anyone with room constrictions that wouldn't permit Khorns Just my two cents worth. Cheers

  43. Ok so new progress, I changed the filter settings on my Audio-GD Ref 5.32 DAC from 8X OS to 4X OS, which ever so slightly rolls of the highs and seems (at least top my ears) to give slightly more low end and that seems to balance out the sound even more. I can even use the Ti tweeters now without fatigue.

  44. Just to be sure, have you swapped the mid drivers from left to right to see if the problem moved along as well?

  45. Ok so I just bought four KP-2500-C speakers (the owner wouldn't sell two) to use the tweeters for my Forte IIs. They definitely sound better now than with the vifa tweeters, at least the sound has opened up. I also finally got a chance to install Bob Cites' titanium diaphragms, which I had laying around for a few months now. I must say, although they maybe sound more detailed, they also sound a bit more sibilant, compared to the stock K-79-K diaphragms. Does anybody else share this experience? I also upgraded the crossover caps, which makes them sound even a little brighter still...

  46. Does this filter also get rid of the "dip" between 200 and 2Khz, that can be seen on the frequency response graph?

  47. thing is, they all sounded fine before he dropped one of them... Do you think maybe the coil got misaligned due to the shock of being dropped a bit too rough on a concrete floor??
    1 point
  48. Well, it looks like I'll be doing that myself this evening. The guy has four of them and apparently only wants to sell all four of them in one go, so if they're all ok, I guess I'll be buying four of them and will try to sell two of them on. Basically all I need them for is the tweeters to replace the wrong ones in my Forté IIs. Maybe I'll use the K-42 woofers and find/fabricate some Chorus II networks for a conversion project which peeked my interest a while ago... Hopefully they'll be up to snuff because I can't seem to find any info about a trapezoid version of the KP-2500-C. The drivers don't even seem to be flush with the cabinet, as can be seen in the picture, which seems weird... They are Klipsch branded though, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see... (photos were sent to me by the owner)
