  1. Every once in a while I can listen to his solo stuff and appreciate it like when I first heard it. Sounds ok on the phone. Will try again with the stereo soon. Have a real good copy of an early double live LP Genesis put out... Thanks Mike!

  3. If you truly want tube sound, a hybrid amp won’t get you there. It may sound good and even slightly (albeit, very slightly) different than a SS offering, it only hints at what a tube amp will bring. I think you will need to spend at least 800.00 (I’ve seen a couple of used Willsenton amps at this price) to get something that sounds decent and is reliable.

  8. Ha! Duckburg! Got a day off from leaf duty but the downside of that is the rains rolled in over night and wiped things out. Sherwood Forest took a major hit and what didn't land in there wound up in my front yard ahhhhgain. Bakcyard is the same way from the kid next door's two big oaks. Temps dropping so when things dry out I'm hittin my place one last time. Maybe. 😂 Band has a gig tonite downtown at the good ole Moose Lodge so that place should be packed. It's fairly new and they do weekend dinners so it should be packed. Think I'll blow it off. Grandson has hoops practice so I'm the designated driver Mom and Dad are bowling so might have to pick him up too. That's enough runnin for me. Think I'm gonna unzip a few new lp's outta the pile and give 'em a listen this afternoon. Add some dishes and a load of laundry to the mix so I'll be good to go. The 5# ham is ordered from John's favorite market for Thanksgiving and I'm ready for bean soup w/the leftovers. Nuttin on the planet better than watchin the OSU/❌ichigan game with a big ole bowl full loaded up w/ @oldtimer hot sauce.

  10. I recently moved to Texas, and I still find myself talking about sleds down here. It's all the cool little stops along the trails that you remember....Pine Lake Lodge has the best burger I've ever had. The Great Northern has awesome brats, their lobby is full of stuffed animals. And all the people up there are so friendly. Everything is so clean, no scumbags, gang bangers, conmen, just great people. There's a place we have been staying at for 40 years in Mercer Wisconsin. The owner will leave for bed around midnight, about 6-8 of us will stay in the bar. She says write down what you had, here's the keys, pay me later! Now that's service.

  14. Breaking out of Ann Arbor - Michigan football fires linebackers coach Chris Partridge Tony Garcia Detroit Free Press View Comments 0:29 1:06 Michigan football has fired linebackers coach Chris Partridge, the program announced in a statement Friday morning. "Effective today, Chris Partridge has been relieved of his duties as a member of the Michigan Football staff," read a message from team spokesman Dave Ablauf. "Rick Minter will serve as the team’s linebackers coach." Partridge is in his fifth year as a member of U-M's coaching staff overall; he was brought back Feb. 8 to begin his second tenure with the Wolverines when he was hired to coach the linebackers. Partridge previously served as the team's special teams coordinator for four seasons (2016-19), before he became defensive coordinator at Ole Miss for three seasons (2020-22). TRENDING:Michigan accepting Jim Harbaugh's suspension leaves more questions than answers Rick Minter is a longtime coach at Cincinnati (1994-2003) and father of defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. He has served as a defensive analyst for the Wolverines since 2022. Partridge is the second staffer to leave his position in the past few weeks, after off-field analyst Connor Stalions resigned Nov. 3 following evidence he ran an illegal sign-stealing scheme. The NCAA's investigation is ongoing. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has been suspended for the final three games of the regular season as overseer of the program. The university and Harbaugh on Thursday did a 180 and agreed to accept the ban, one day before a scheduled court hearing where U-M hoped to receive a temporary restraining order against the Big Ten for its suspension, which would have allowed Harbaugh to coach against Maryland on Saturday and Ohio State a week later to close the regular season. READ MORE:Jim Harbaugh has the chance to step up and teach us all a lesson while suspended FWIW: Firing an assistant coach of a 10-0 team during the season is unheard of in college football. Obviously this has to be related to the sign stealing investigation.

  16. As i stated in my last rely, I messaged him on Facebook he send me a video of the speakers. He opened 1 box with a knife. and everything was factory sealed. he took the Styrofoam off the top of the speakers, Klipsch bag was smooth, with the corners nice and sharp. if you send me a message with your email. I will be happy to share it with you. Or you can message the guy and ask for the video on facebook

  17. @JohnJ That's just temporary to appease the other B1G teams. The funny thing about it all blue said they weren't going to press the issue with a fight over a temporary restraining order. They just said they'd honor the 3 game ban since it could hurt recruiting. They no more than said that and the B1G AND the NCAA made statements that there WOULD be more coming and that the suspension in no way meant it was concluded. The word I got last night was that the NCAA is talking about forfeiture of ALL games in the 2022 and 23 seasons. Possibly games from the 2021 season too. Stalions was on staff both of those years. In 2021 he wasn't on staff but it's entirely possible he was proving to UofM that his system could work. Can take that fwiw . I look for Harbs to quit after the season but that's nothing new since he has his eye on the Head Coaching job for the Chicago Bears. With all of the blowback coming he'd have a hard time landing an NFL job again. Ya have to remember he was the head coach for the San Fran 49er's prior to taking the job @ U of M. Additionally, with his brother John coaching the Ravens he could find something somewhere. John has publically stated he didn't see much wrong w/what Jim has done. It'll sort in time.

  19. Before you start blaming the speakers I would make sure your amplifier isn't the culprit. If it is happening on both speakers my bet is the amplifier is having issues. Try a different pair of speakers and see if the crackling issue remains first before hacking into the Heresy's.

  20. Here is a link to the featured Reference Track for the SubFest Bonehead Class. Roy was in a quandary, he couldn’t find anything music wise that had a true fundamental in the 15 to 16hZ range. What to do? You call your resident Renaissance Man if you are lucky enough to have one, and KGI/PAC does in fact have one, Matt Sommers. Link to the two cuts which Matt collectively named “Deep Roy” with a description of the musical keys, and lowest fundamental frequency. Enjoy on your favorite system/headphones. If you are wondering why Matt has such a long silent intro on track 2 . . . well I will let those who were there explain it and what the intro does to the listening room couch. Enjoy, courtesy of a true Renaissance Man (in the highest Quattro cento sense of that moniker) https://www.mattsommers.net/deep-roy/

  21. I like them quite a lot! But they are about 20 years old and on borrowed time. VMPS is long gone and Brian Cheney was notoriously secretive, so no one knows what parts he used. I now have a folder on my computer named "Deep Roy"!

  25. I’ve got 3 across the front and zero regrets on movies. It sounds huge with the same sonic signature as one of our premium art house cinemas with Klipsch sound in Indianapolis. I can’t recommend them enough. Once I buy a house I’ll mount them in a baffle wall behind a perf screen.

  31. Harmony is progressing and elusive. I'm actually going to reduce my 11 channel (plus 2 subs, front and reaar) setup to only 2 channels on the ceiling (4 is marginal there), and have 3 subs instead of just 2. Bass is expensive and hard to get reasonably flat all over small rooms, that's for sure.

  32. I'm still enjoying my Dynaco tube amp and PAS preamp along with my SX-1980.

  33. Exactly. Just like an ordinary connection. if you're not into bi-wiring/bi-amping thing, just use one set of speaker wire terminals.
    1 point
  34. Yes, Bi-wiring brought back to life! I've read a bi-wiring article in a certain X-brand speaker site claiming that their bi-wirable speakers x-over were engineered with completely separate hi-pass and low-pass sections...it also says -"the effects of bi-wiring are not subtle. The improvements are large enough that a bi-wire set of moderately priced cable will usually sound better than a single run of more expensive cable". Since i'm not familiar of it, i wonder if klipsch engineers did the same with all of their so-called bi-wirable speakers' crossover(s)...or they just put those extra posts at the back of the speakers for marketing purposes?

  35. Guys, to bi-wire or not? Is there any obvious sound improvement of a bi-wired speaker over the one that's not?

  36. when setting up my new pair of rf-25s i discovered foams neatly place (inside) near the ports opening. is this normal to all klipsch ref. series. my synergys have none
    1 point
  37. Let's put it this way, when you talk with your mouth's full(of food of course), the sound will be muffled or dead. So in my opinion the foam should not be loose and not blocking the air/sound passage coming from the drivers down to the port's opening.

  39. Thanks for your feedbacks, guys. These clarified the matter. By the way, mine is "neatly" (no flip-flopping) sets at bottom and sidewalls near the port opening. From the port's mouth and up it's clear except some dangling wires which, i think, should be pasted.

  40. Skonopa, Thanks for the second opinion. "Dampening" - that's the term. i've been hearing/reading about this before but still i wonder if klipsch have put those foam paddings when they ship their NEW speakers.
