  1. Remind me to NEVER let anyone else pull my lp's out then put them back. I'm pulling my stinking hair out!!! They aren't even close to being where they belong in places. Wait, could I have done that? Nah, impossible! 😂 😂 One pile down kinda. 5 left. Lawdy...

  4. Man that WOULD suck swamp water. Sounds like the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing once again. The old hurry up and wait always leaves you scratching your head. Grrrrrr. I got a call from my eye clinic yesterday. I was in guinea pig mode one day and got involved in some eye study program. They paid me 100$ to participate and all they did was take pics of my retina and do some lill air puff thingy, which was nothing. Soooo, they said it had been 5 years since I did it and wanted me back to do the same test again. NP they were going to give me 100$ again. 30 in fuel for the trip down and 70 for moving from chair to chair. I can handle that. 💪😂

  5. @MicroMara I've got almost all of his cd's but I rarely play cd's. Old guys stick together. lol He's always been good but took some time off and spent 4-5 years living off the coast of Spain getting his head back together. Been picking up steam ever since. His lyrics are heady and even better now. Factor in the guitar work and it's paying off now imo. Staying warm, the flood light's on and Im shovin albums in holes. Might be done by Easter. Ugh! 💪

  7. Terence Charles "Snowy" White (born 3 March 1948) is an English guitarist, known for having played with Thin Lizzy (permanent member from 1980 to 1982) and with Pink Floyd (as a backing guitarist; he was first invited to tour with the band through Europe and the United States in 1977, and during The Wall shows in 1980), and more recently, for Roger Waters' band.[1] He is also known for his 1983 solo offering "Bird of Paradise", which became a UK Singles Chart Top 10 hit single.[2] Still don't know him? Sure ya do. He's ALWAYS hangin w/the guns playin his gold top Les Paul and killin it. I picked this copy up on Amazon and couldn't believe I got it. Yea, he's THAT good. His time w/Gary Moore stands out as does the time spent w/Roger Waters and the boys in Floyd. Ya better get ya some! You KNOW what's good! He's gonna slay ya! :)

  15. Why the Oldchen, ask my 4 y/o grandson, lol. The rest is history. I have previously owned a tub hybrid amp and two EL 34 amps. The previous amps were the Yqin 2100, and the 13S respectively. I like all of the amps but, the hybird amp was to much like SS. The EL 34's were excellent: clear highs, good tight bass and plenty of headroom. It was time to try a 300B or KT88. I only use digital media and wanted a streaming source and HiFi audio. After reading up on both types of amps, I thought the KT 88 would better suit my living space due to the added power over most 300B amps. I have had good luck with my other amps and decided on the Oldchen K3 KT88 BT. It is a push-pull amp capable of 45 watts in class A and can be push up to a round 90 watt. The amp came with Psvane KT 88 X4 and CV 181 tubes. Initial impression was that the amp looked and felt well built. Nice gold binding post with a 4 and 8 ohm connector for the speakers and 3 analog inputs..I replace the stock tubes with Shuguang black treasure CV 181z in the preamp and Shuguang black treasure KT 88z. The KT88 has a nice warm low end and detailed midrange. The Hi's are not has pronounced, or bright compared to my EL 34 amps. Realism describes the presentation with good imaging and crystal clear music. This is a very budget friendly amp that easily qualifies as a good Hi Fi tube amp for home use.

  19. Had another "oldie" in the ride today, thought I'd share one of my faves off of it. Of course I always try to get at least a 1080 vid that opens up the whole lp if you'd like to fire one up and reminisce It helps a little with this recording and it's mid-70s coliseum-tone.

  20. Looks like I'm a Virginian now. Got the vehicle, license and insurance stuff started yesterday. Tags came home with me, yes it's two. They have a front and a back here that I haven't seen since the mid 70s before I got my first car in 1979. Think I saw that front plate holder in the shed the other day. Dave... I did get out of having to pay taxes! With the proof that I paid when I got it last summer. Man, it's windy up here, 40 mph easy with 40 degrees makes it chilly again. Rained heavily last night and when the sun was out good at 7am even the gravel & leaves were dried off by the wind!

  31. Thank you for the responses. I'll follow the advice and purchase an affordable cable to test if there's any noticeable difference with this length. From what I gather from the comments, the chances are very slim that this will result in any noticeable loss in quality.

  32. I swapped x overs and the problem tweeter stayed with the same speaker which indicates a bad tweeter. The reason why I was assuming it was a bad x over is because the non working tweeter passed the Ohm and battery tests.

  36. Holy Cow Bat Man!!!! .... what was I thinking. Please blame it on my head and not my heart. I totally failed at my mandatory post-purchase photo-sharing duties!!! 🙂 As my wife keeps telling me....you have to do better!!! Some explainers: - My man cave/study/hide-a-way is as square as you get (including size!). About 15' x 15. Ceilings are about 9'. Furnishings are a bit of this and that, and not much of either. The room is having a major identity crisis. I wanted to get the important things first. - The set up is: Netgear Nighthawk Router/Tidal Streaming --- (RJ 45 Cat5e) --- > NAD CS 1 --- (Tosk link) --> RME-ADI2 FS DAC/Pre --- (RCA)--- > Alan Eaton 2 wpc SET amp --- (Mogami cable) --- > Heresy's IV - The REM-ADI2 Dac is lower right. The yellow lights are continuous visual frequencies. - The NAD C1 DSD end point is at lower left - small blue light. The NAD unit supports Tidal...which is the main reason I bought it. Plus the price was about $350.00 - Upper shelf is the Alan Eaton SET 45 amp. About 2 wpc. I was skeptical, but with Heresy’s, if I turn the knobs all the way, it is equivalent of about a forty wpc solid state amp. That is a rough estimate based on having owned a lower wattage SS amp years ago. Anyway, it gets plenty loud that I would never turn it all the way up. The Heresy IV are in Walnut with the "lamb’s wool" grills. They are everything I had hoped for, and more. I was happily surprised to find the stands came with them. Right now, I have no reason to change them. I'll see what the room is going to look like with some furniture and a little moving around. Some say taller stands are better. That will come later. You all did me a huge favor getting me over the hump. Money is always a factor, at least with the people I know. No one wants to make a high-dollar mistake. After looking at all the comparable speakers (in the Heresy price range), I kept coming back to them. At that price, it is mostly bookshelf speakers, and the tower type (i.e. Focal) which seem to me are the same bookshelf speakers with a longer to the floor cabinet. I saw a lot of speakers with full-range drivers (sometimes just one). Again, kept coming back to Heresy IV's. I had looked around my area up to about a 4-hour drive time for a pre-owned set but had no luck at all. Did that for about 6 months. I knew I was getting close. Then I put my post out there and you all responded. That did it. Pulling the trigger was not hard to do then. I dialed the number, order them up…and am glad I did. No regrets!

  45. Welcome, Rob! The best speaker I had owned were a pair of JBL studio monitors, about the same size as the Heresy models. I still have them, but in the early 2000s, my older son came home from school with a pair of Heresy IIs for my birthday. They were a used set... the JBLs moved to living room duty. The HIIs are still here, currently my main speakers. I have had other Klipsch along the way (larger, pro models), but the Heresys will stay. Each newer model really is an improvement over the previous one. If I wanted another set of that size and had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to get them. Bruce

  46. Flevoman, I'm very curious about your listening impressions. It is a rare opportunity to have two such exceptional speakers in the same room at the same time. Personally, I am in the second spring with my old 1977 LaScala. Paradox is, since I brought in the Covid 19 years with much love the LS in almost original condition, diaphragm, Xover original parts etc. I hear the resonnance in the upper bass even more clearly because the „new original“ sound is so clear and pleasant. My next project is to reinforce the side panels and the top with multiplex by 6 mm and 4 mm respectively. I would leave the Lascala as it is because I value originality very much but a carpenter had sanded it down a bit on the side walls to eliminate paint that the previous owner had applied. So I go a little beyond the original thickness of the sidewalls because I have to do something anyway. This will be closer to the characteristics of the new Lascala 2 without resonances in the upper bass, even if the new one uses different material. As has been said here, a full horn is something unique, and the LaScala with its old-school K401 still conveys the Klipsch magic and a fantastic spaciousness. Unfortunately, my post is not for comparison with a CW4. But I do have the comparison with my Tannoy Canterbury 15, which as some may know is also a combination of high-mid horn down to 1000 Hz and bass reflex, though almost everything is a bit different. And despite all the competencies of the Canterbury with almost a whole octave more bass range, it is in the end the LaScala that moves my heart and my bobbing foot more. I said it in another thread, the seamless connection of the bass to the K401 is simply world class. A word about the tweeter. I have not heard the AL5 yet. I tried other "more modern" tweeters with my old LaScala. Without expanding on that, I have ruefully returned to the original K77 alnico. If the AL5 as well as the AK6 have a newly developed tractrix tweeter then I'm sure it took Roy a few sleepless nights to realize it the way he envisioned it....a modernization while retaining the original character and with the best possible connection to the K401 exponential horn. Roy knows much better than I do that you can't just take any other tweeter. I think it is high art to design the right tweeter or to choose it. Many a good speaker has been designed from the tweeter down to the bass. Now I've digressed a bit, but I rave about these speakers. PS Since yesterday I have my Underground Jubilees back in the living room after a break of a few years. This is a fantastic, breathtaking and unique speaker in its own right. If I were forced to go to the famous lonely island I would chose between the Underground Jubilee and the LaScala. Both are so impressive musical but for different reasons. The Underground Jubilee is unbeatable with its serene and at the same time powerful impulsive sound as if from one source. It is the "big block" speaker. But even here you must not deceive yourself about the bass. On the one hand, incredibly clear, fast, articulate. On the other hand, not lower than a little below 40Hz...which does not bother me. The LaScala on the other hand is just as satisfying for me in the bass for jazz, acoustic music and rock music. It is not the "big block" but it is unique how the LaScala can visually and acoustically marry with many rooms. What LS and UJ have in common is that the horn bass of both is miles ahead of any normal radiating bass in a speaker cabinet…in my view.
