Yeah, I' might take that for it... just kind of nostalgic I guess... lot of years of hauling kids in that thing. Just getting tired of all the unexpected expenses lately but that's how it is sometimes. Once in a while it all hits at the same time. All part of the fun!

Kelly Blue Book says 2800 - 4100. 4100 would be top dollar from a dealer and I’d guess it would be closer to 3k+ from an individual. A used transmission isn’t much less than that. Body is decent and everything works (even dvd) except the passenger window. Considering donating maybe.

Just a month ago, my wife and I were talking about selling the old 2003 Odyssey but we hadn't done anything with it yet. Well, we waited too long I guess and now the transmission needs to be replaced. It isn't worth the cost and effort to us because we really don't need it anymore. The engine runs like a top and I imagine this fully loaded van at 148k miles could have a lot more miles to go potentially. Any ideas or interest?

When dealing with insurance for personal property I found that I just had to show an existing equivalent and give a good argument. An example was a custom built computer with high end parts (for the day) that I put together a couple years earlier. I had to find the closest equivalent I could buy outright and get their "tech" guy to agree it was a fair replacement. I think you will lose if arguing price of materials plus your labor but coverage can differ. When it comes to replacing my kitchen cabinets that I BUILT they would only pay for materials for me to do it myself but they would pay a cabinet shop full price. Good luck. Edit: Get a quote from a cabinet shop to build your cabinets! Or electronics tech to build your project. Insurance should accept that plus the parts I would think.

Yes, it is about getting your room right... speakers and seat in the right place. When you have a room that is not just for audio... other family members use it for other purposes, it can be very difficult to make some of the changes you might need. You can get closer though. While following the advice of the book I'd turn off any EQ. You can redo the EQ settings when you are done. Hopefully, you won't need much.

I have both... he is a not a great novelist but both are full of good information. It is more a series of tips and advice. I think I'd prefer the book because it is easier to refer back.

This seems really strange to me but I know they DO sell used as well as new. That's how it started... selling used records. I've been there and seen their warehouse in Salina, KS as well as the record manufacturer across the street, Analogue Productions (https://www.discogs.com/label/57179-Analogue-Productions) both started by Chad Kassem. They are a small shop but I cannot imagine that you have anything to worry about them making it right. Chad has been putting on the Blues Masters and the Crossroads for over 20 years in Salina. I finally got to go last Fall and it was a blast! 2 nights of great blues at the Blue Heavens studio that was formally an old church (great acoustics to say the least). We also took a tour of the manufacturing plant which was really cool to see! I'd say to give them time to make it right and let us know here.

It is geared to 2 channels but getting the room right is important no matter how many channels. Your speaker and seat placement might be limited to a small number of options but I'll bet you can improve. Your first reflection for the left channel is rough! Work on your room as much as you can. Not all improvements have to be expensive!

You have taken some nice pictures and it's helpful to those of us with other commitments who could not attend. Companies are made of people who have varied ideas and vary in their decisions and even change their minds sometimes. Try to not take it personally even though it feels that way. National origin is a protected class so it is something else we have to tread lightly around. My thought is that we can try to not be disparaging. I think you have clarified your thoughts here.
