  1. The coupling cutout you have on your shelf brace is on the small side not to mention the cabinet wide slot (about 3/4"-1" wide) that you now have toward the back side of the enclosure is going to make noise and you have blocked off about a three inch wide section (wider actually, a significant portion of the vent) of your reflex vent with the horizontal brace you installed. This photo is a good example of how not to brace your Cornwall. I understand that your intentions were good but the result is a messed up cabinet.
  2. simple; Stereo is two channels of encoded information and when played back on two channels you reproduce the sound properly as it was recorded. The fewer speakers used in your loudspeaker the less inter driver interference you get and by adding secondary loudspeakers it just further compromises the sound many times more. If you want more level or more bass then get a higher output capacity loudspeaker. In most home settings a sub or two will solve these issues when combined with a smaller main loudspeaker. Just as an example a pair of KLF30 each with dual twelve inch woofers can provide continuous output in the 110 db range and much higher peaks no problem and this is Very Loud in a home setting. Consider that the average sound system in a bar is set for an average level of 95db at 20 Feet away from the stage. I hope this helps.
  3. running a scam and taking advantage of a fool are not at all the same thing. I think it is fair to say we have all of us acted foolishly many times in our lives and we learn best when the consequence stings. Even simple people need to learn what things they are good to do on their own and when to ask for assistance. I agree with you that to mislead is not a kind or ethical thing to do but this is a buyer beware world that we live in. Intentionally misleading or lying can be difficult to prove or just not worth involving the law over but in some situations it may be the thing to do. Life can have some hard lessons for us and the sooner we learn them the better off we will be. The person you see as a scammer may simply be desperate for cash and have limited options. I doubt that but I just don't know.
  4. I was under the impression that the 700H has a smaller (narrower see attached photo) mid horn while the Heresy has a K700 mid horn which is the same width but taller. The 700H is as you said aside from the mid horn basically a Heresy. If the OP has a mid horn which is taller than in the photo it will be a cast K700 mid horn as used in later Heresy. Thanks for the information re the K1000 Vs the K700, I should have caught that one. Still suffering some brain fog had a stroke in July.
  5. I think you meant to say Single Ended (SE) Vs Push Pull (PP), SET stands for Single Ended Triode, you could also have a Single Ended Pentode (SEP)and you could have a Push Pull Pentode or Triode amp as well. This should help to prevent any confusion.
  6. why not make a copy of the info on these parts and post that here as future reference, the Amazon link will not last and you efforts and post will become obsolete.
  7. Your request does not sound as if you are building a surround system, are you wanting to run two sets of stereo speakers at the same time with the same information? If so why? Are you running a stereo or a PA? If you want more jam get some more amps and or a pair of dual fifteen Klipsch pro cabinets. Going the opposite direction to a small two way with a pair of subs will provide much better sound quality but not the same level and I am going to guess that you like to play loud, a pair of LaScala with a pair of subs would fit that bill very well. Welcome to the forum.
  8. you have not provided any useful information based upon what you say the higher secondary resistance will provide a better load for the amplifier and might sound better or you might not notice any or much difference. Using the full secondary winding is always going to be better and may sound better than a lower ohm tap will.
  9. Robbie010: an on line calculator is not going to tell you how this sounds. The people who have done this mod (which if recall correctly was designed the late DJK) figured this out and did all the testing. Why not scan the archives and ask those who have done the modification and see what thy have to say about it. Dennis also designed a filter box to boost low end response if desired. This mod in room can extend bass by about an octave and that is a BIG deal.
  10. sometimes the "idiot" gets the asking price. In most of those cases though the vendor actually makes an effort to present their offering to look it's best. This does not look to be one of those situations and your Halloween comment was spot on.
  11. does anybody really have a problem with this guy asking 2K for his speakers? Or a problem if he actually gets 2K for them? It is not very likely that he will get his asking price but it is worth his time to ask. Why not? This is sounding very socialistic or communistic, comrade Harris and comrade Biden would no doubt approve I am sure but hey is there really a problem just because the guy wants as much as he can get? Does this make him a bad comrade?
  12. you can use the volume up top where the mid and hi horn are mounted seal off the back with a plate and mount the vents on that, don't forget that you would need to make an opening into the dog house if you do this. The best height for your cabinet is when the centre of the mid horn is at your seated ear level. With the reflex box on the bottom all you need do is remove the dog house plate/cover and mount the reflex box to the bottom of the cabinet. This makes reversing the modification extremely easy to do. The exact volume is very flexible though you will have to tune the vents if you change volume much. Remember to tune your vents with the speakers set up where they will be playing.
  13. Robbie010: Bruce already told you. Make the box ten inches high (internal) and the width and depth to match the LaScala. You should make the vents easy to remove and exchange so you can adjust the vent length (install different length vents) easily to suit what ever room they are in, small adjustments can make a nice difference.
  14. Chorus (front vent) and Forte and Forte ll & Chorus ll (all rear passive reflex) do very well very close to the front wall give them toe in and they can touch the wall with no issues. Rear passive can be much closer to the front wall than a rear reflex vent but in both cases (reflex vent or passive radiator) toe in solves all the issues. Only co planar positioning causes problems. Co planar set up is something I just cannot support as it leads to extreme off axis listening which is not supportable, just look at the off axis response of any loudspeaker to understand why. It is foolish to listen off axis when you can benefit by listening on axis.
  15. 1960 at an A&P grocery store I got my mother to buy me a Sons of the Pioneers album and a Mario Lanza album and a Gene Autry album all on the Camden label I was five years old. I picked these all based upon the album cover picture. I loved them all.
  16. Chorus and Chorus ll both use the identical woofer.
  17. purchase with confidence from this long time member, I did and every aspect of the transaction was excellent. Highly recommended.

    Jokes?

Grazin' in the grass is a yes, baby, can you dig it?
  19. this is creepin up on "joke thread territory"
  20. Bob Crites sells a Conscala D which is a two way design. That would be my go to model.
  21. larger horns will hold their polar response to a lower frequency. a good way to determine the quality of a horn design is to look at its frequency response to see how high it goes, a wider response is a good thing. in a three way you can use a limited band device. also worth considering is the difference between small format drivers and large format drivers. large format drivers have much lower distortion figures.
