  1. That morning, I was sitting in the bedroom, reading a couple of emails and cards that friends had sent. I read some prayers out loud, and told her that we would miss her, but we would all be ok and it was alright for her to go. About that time, the hospice nurse pulled up the driveway, and I told Barbara that I needed to go let her in. She was bringing a morphine pump, as the capsules were too hard for her to swallow. I went out to the kitchen and let the nurse in. She showed me how the pump would work, and then headed down the hall to the bedroom. She was gone when we got into the room. The nurse said "I think our angel has flown away." Anna Grace came with one of her roommates, and we all sat around the table telling stories and drinking the second bottle wine that @fini had sent us from California. That night I fired up the ST70 and Juicy Music Merlin and listened to her favorite music. I'll be forever grateful to the forum members who bought the refurbed Merlin from Mark and sent to us to enjoy the music together while we could. I think of Barbara and you all every time I fire it up.
  2. Eminence has some of their drivers made in China.
  3. Beautiful, beautiful! My wife didn't mind the plain black MWMs too much but I'm afraid she would balk at al the trim on those. That's ok, the Snails are getting closer to being finished up.
  4. Can't ever forget. Thank you for posting this, Joshua.
  5. Nice! I plan on getting a couple (I'll start with two) to build a couple of mic splitters. . Would love eight, but... those are pricey.
  6. I've had three H/K receivers, and while pretty nice, not the be all end all pieces of gear (I still have two). I enjoy them.
  7. I'll point out that Klipsch has a series of four Heritage sub models coming out, all are horn loaded. I'm sure they will not be inexpensive, but like other Heritage models, worth the price of admission. I had first generation La Scalas and never felt the need for subs. I'm sure I would have enjoyed them but 'need' is a pretty strong, like saying you won't be happy without them. Not so, I love them and could easily see me getting them again (any version).
  8. You beat me to it, Henry. I powered my JBL 4311s with 2A3 monoblocks, and still was ok with the power most of the time. IIRC, the JBLs are only 89db sensitivity. The Cornwalls should be pretty good with a 300B amp.
  9. That looks delicious! The only thing the same about that meal at our house is the plates
  10. Thankfully, some things don't change.
  11. Duke, he redid the Scott LK-72A/ 299C. Looks like they would run forever. I would love one, but I am afraid my piggybank is way too small.
  12. I thought the peakiness was from the parallel sides (doghouse to outer side walls) for the 10 or 11 inches. Then John Albright said the Peavey FH-1 cabinets had it too, but I've not read that anywhere else. Whatever, it never bothered me when I had La Scalas. I may end up with some again one day. If I do I will keep them, as I've missed them as soon as I let them go.
  13. Well, we drove to Atlanta for Thanksgiving and had superb Vietnamese food. We're usually up for any good Asian food, no matter the country label attached. And we had Chinese food for last night! Just wanting more peace in the world.
  14. There's a guy here in Chattanooga who uses some in a couple of his systems. Maybe give him a call after the holidays and see if he has any he would sell. I'll pm his number.
  15. Richard, this is a wonderful project. Is this going to be large enough to have the Bible open, i.e., where specific facing pages are visible, or closed, where you only see the over/outside? Either way, the glass needs to be able to block UV light, to prevent degradation. Most glass will block UV B & C, but you need to also block UV A. You will also need to be careful with the finish, as many aren't suitable, as they will out gas for a long time.

    Fraziers...

If I can find the time, I'm going to see if I can visit this guy an have look at his gear.
  17. I'm picking up a friend to take him to church. He's 81 and stopped driving, and is getting wobbly on his feet. I hadn't seen him for a few weeks and got in touch. Finally convinced him I would pick him up so he could get to Mass. Starting to wonder when that will happen to me. Lady at work said her MIL had an accident. She's 93 and they still let her drive. Now she's in the hospital... That often doesn't end well.
  18. This is a great article about research on honey from bees around the world. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5440786/
  19. I think this is the issue with a LOT of recordings, where there are discrepancies in the acoustic space of different tracks in a mix. You might not even notice listening on some generic direct radiator speakers. The more resolving they are, the more apparent it is.
  20. Those are amazing! Stingless would be nice... I believe the honey from our bees is also medicinal, as well, but this is giving thought for some further reading.
