  1. Happy New Year indeed, my friend, from a Parkersburg fellow Mountaineer. Are you out in the country or did you move to the Big City of Ravenswood?
  2. I just had a crazy thought. I really like the theater seats which are on the left side. I would love to see those in the middle. Is there any way you could slide and rotate that L (not left, the letter L) couch all the way to the left? Just the one section. Then put the theater seats in the Main Listening Position (MLP). Then slide the remaining couch section away from the front along the right side wall. Probably a crazy idea. Just ignore me.
  3. The traditional spot for the subs is outside the speakers, near the corners. I would start there. Put the speakers just outside the TV enough so you can toe them in. It looks ideal to me. Above the listener and either to the side or slightly behind. I suggested you start with subs in the corners because I think they will sound pretty good there. I have put a 15" sub behind my couch before. It sounds really good, you hear the sub sound but it sounds like it's coming from the front speakers. Start with the subs up front, then move one to the back if you aren't satisfied with the sound. LOL! How am I doing @billybob? 🤣
  4. Welcome to the forum @bpplaysguitar. You are right to put out a WTB for CF-4's as they don't onto the market all that often and when they do, people grab them fast. I've got the CF-4 v1 and I'm hanging on to mine. Here is a great thread with lots of CF-4 info. Good luck finding your speakers. -Dave
  5. Nice pic. That graphic helps especially for someone like me who doesn't visualize things all that well. +++ In the particular case of that photo ^^^ I would consider getting a smaller TV/audio stand as opposed to having to compromise sound with smaller speakers. I'm not saying that is what to do, I'm just saying that is something to consider. I had a similar situation where I had an audio cab to work around. My wife bought that cab. She loves that cab. She hates my speakers.
  6. First the easy part; the Marantz 8012 is excellent. No change needed here. Yeah you could add an external amp but unless you are cranking to very high SPL you won't hear that much of a difference. You'll hear the biggest change in sound if you swap speakers. I have the Marantz 6011, 110 wpc driving a 5.1 setup. +++ I've tested the RP-600M as mains in a 3.1 TV setup. The 600M sounds great on its own if you give it some power to allow it to play in its sweet spot. Adding a sub makes it a 3-way system and it really sounds good. This is what I know. Now on to what I've read. The consensus is the RP-8000F floor stander is a better sound than the 600M on stands. The dual 8" woofs simply have a bigger, fuller sound. I have not heard the 8000F. You are considering going from a 5000F to a 6000F. The RP is the mid tier in the Klipsch Reference series. Going from the RP-5000 to the RP-6000 would be a lateral move IMO. Yes the 6000F would be better but not substantially better than if you went to the 8000F. Bottom line: You know your room needs, we don't. If it were my listening space here is how I would prioritize speaker choices to achieve the most noticeable improvement in sound from the 5000F. 504C - Upgrading the center speaker is the single best thing you can do to improve the sound, even music oriented sound. This MUCH stronger center will work synergistically with the mains to improve the overall front sound stage. 8000F - Big improvment 6000F - Good improvement 600M - Also good improvement External amp - Fair improvement I thought Mr. @Kamidioblitz's suggestions directly upstream ^^^ were spot on as well. He got the the point faster than I did. 🤜🤛

  10. Neutrek Speakon fan here. I like being the only one on my block with a part that is a product of Liechtenstein. I suggest you spend the extra buck or two and get the genuine Neutrek brand. They are better quality than the cheapies. I have had both. There is something you should know about the Neutrek connectors. They don't use a Phillips head screwdriver. They use a Pozidriv screw driver. Either the PZ0 or PZ1, I'll check my notes. Harbor Freight has those as part of set, but it's cheap. You can also find the Pozidriv drivers as part of a screwdriver with all the bits in the bottom. That might be your best bet to find one.
  11. The problem is raw birch is designated BR - Birch Raw
  12. Good question, one I was wondering myself while adding this confirmed sale to the Heritage Prices spreadsheet. You are right that does not look like a factory stain job, there is a lot of drip overrun on the back. I checked the usual Klipsch Heritage CODES document for this and there is something designated WS. There isn't anything documented WR but that is clearly what is on the label and the finish does look like a walnut stain. "WS Birch (stained) Stain Walnut on Birch" I'll add a note to the document "WR" and await further light.
  13. I think this speaks for itself. I don't need to tell the guys in this Klipsch group to crank it up. 🤜🤛
  14. I had hair before I put those speakers up there. +++ The back story: Most of us men are the picture takers. Nobody ever takes pictures of us. My buddy @mustang guy had just helped me pick up some Khorns which I got directly due to his kindness. We had just moved the Khorns into the living room. I wanted him to hear my CF-4's so I went back to the Mancave to crank them up. Craig had his camera and snapped that picture. It's my favorite picture of me, thanks to Craig.
  15. That's nice and all but who the hell gets a newspaper anymore....and who hardly even prints one anymore. Everybody in my Luddite community reads newspapers. 🤓

  17. This ^^^. The reason the center is the most important speaker is ninety percent of TV/movies is dialog, and 90% of dialog/vocals comes out out of the center speaker. As Mr. @Ceptorman said, get the best center speaker you can afford. I suggest the RP-504C. 504C owners rave about the sound and it costs half of what the mighty RC-64 III costs. I've never heard the 504C. I own the RC-64 III and the RP-600M.
  18. Mr. @inMotionGraphics nailed it ^^^ as usual. The second sub adds about 3 db to the loudness (sound pressure level, or SPL) of the first sub. The second sub does not make things much louder. A single sub bounces off your floor, walls and ceiling and produces soft spots (null) in the sound and loud boomy spots (peaks). The second sub smooths out peaks and nulls. If you can't work out getting a second sub then you can do what I do; make your wife sit in the null. 🤜🤛
  19. The Klipsch community was right on top of this one. Good job because we don't know if there are new posters who may not have seen as many scams as we have. The way to confirm if it is an authentic sale is to ask for a specific picture, top left ONLY, of something with today's paper on top of the speaker. Scammers don't like it when somebody is holding them accountable.
  20. Nice pickup, Claude. The 600M's are no joke! You'll find they sound good top to bottom, right out of the box. They will sound even better after a month of regular playing. I use a Paradigm 10" sub and that effectively turns the 2-ways into a 3-way system. You now have a chest thump system that has a full sound at lower SPL. I am listening now with that exact system and $67 100 wpc mini-amp on the computer. RP-600M in Black Ash 600M w/ DIY Reference 15 sub and RF-83
  21. The reason most people toe their speakers in is two-fold. A lot of folks like the intensity that Klipsch speakers brings to the table. The other and probably the majority opinion is imaging which @MicroMara ^^^ explained really well. I know he explained it really well because even I understood it! 🤣 +++ Seriously, if you have found a sound pleasing to your ears then then you are good to go. I have located speakers in non-traditional placements before and have been surprised by how good they sound. For instance, Khorns close to each other in the middle of a room, near field. Magical! And then there's this, my computer speakers.
