  1. If Klipsch is smart, they'll pay you to run naked wearing BOSE headphones.
  2. The Emotive has pre-outs. Have you considered using the Sherwood amp to power your L/C/R?
  3. For all the TREMENDOUS publicity both Beats and Bose have gotten from this really minor violation, Klipsch should PAY Andrew Luck to wear his Klipsch headphones to the next game! The $10,000 fine would give Klipsch MILLIONS in advertising and name exposure.

    I don't know. Third base!
  5. Genuine congratulations, my friend, and thank you for your service to OUR country!

    NFL Time!

I still don't know exactly what happened on the Colt's trick on-side kick play. I know what the kicker did, but I didn't see anything else. The cameras weren't ready for it!
  7. That pic was taken (not by me) where there is a long bridge across those mountains. Idiots used to sky dive off it all the time, so to deal with that the state now endorsed one day per year where you can legally do that; Bridge Day. http://officialbridgeday.com/ It's on Oct 17th, 2014, so about 10 days from now. The river you can see is the New River, where they have a ton of white water rafting, and there is a new Boy Scout National Reservation in that area which draws about 10,000 Scouts from all over the country. That bridge is in the middle of nowhere, but what a view!
  8. C'mon Thebes, just admit you like it.
  9. It's $3.39 in sunny West Virginia. I think our gasoline tax will keep it from getting much lower. Pic is the New River Gorge.
  10. He wants $1200 now. What did they sell for in 1963 when new?
  11. Klipsch's forum, Klipsch's rules. They can be dictatorial if they like. They set policy, but I've noticed that they're receptive to outside ideas. Ummm...Mr. Zako was kidding.
  12. LOL! I was thinking the same thing. That's a LOT of equipment to listen to a xylophone played with rubber mallets!
  13. (I am responding to Tiger Woods, too) Fellah's, I think we are looking at his posts through our own filters. I read the same posts you guys did, but I came to a different conclusion. I am optimistic by nature and saw those posts through my own filter, which is, I thought he was kidding (ie "what's in it for me?"). He was then ATTACKED for for having less-than-ideal financial morals, lower standards than he was expected to have for posting on this forum. I had no interest in the speakers, so I did not respond to that post, but if I WERE interested in purchasing and "what's in it for me" was the response, MY response would have been "my eternal gratitude" (with BIG smiley thingy -> ) There is NO extortion here, "extortion" is a conclusion, not a fact. Fact: Not everybody buys Klipsch for the love of the brand. Fact: Flipping speakers is not a crime. Conclusion: We are all men here, and what True Man doesn't want a "deal?" (a set of thousand dollar speakers for 500 bucks?)
  14. How does modulation distortion manifest itself? Is it as "noise," or is it as an inaccurate reproduction of a sound, such as a piano that does not sound like a piano should? Edit: Chris, I read the article. Thanks for posting.
  15. I like Baylor, but then again I liked Oklahoma, so what do I know? My original top four included Baylor and OK, because I figured I would be right on one of them, probably OK. I don't have the same confidence in Baylor. A good question would be, what kind of team can beat Baylor, one with a good offense, or defense?
  16. In the big picture, what do you have? Was this a DIY project from the 1960's, or was it a prototype test bed from Klipsch? I don't know what you can do with it since you only have one, but it looks pretty cool.
  17. Everything was well stated TS, you made some good points. I can see your points of view much better, all perfectly valid. I think what some other posters were commenting on is the escalation of school violence, and maybe wondering if the violent video games are having some influence on that, a correlation between vid games and school violence. I don't know the answer, because the research hasn't been complete, but I can tell you from my perspective on the front lines, there is something going on, and it scares the heck out of me. I see a specific segment of the new generation of kids who have no conscience or moral center. That is the 1% that is scaring the crap out of the other 99% of us.
  18. I agree with everything Jim in St. Louis said, just upstream. (including NOT wanting to hang out in pawn shops! ) Condition obviously affects price which you already know, but I would think any CF-4's under $600 would be an absolute value grab, and would be profitable even if you bought them just to flip them. +++ Edit: I just re-read SB's first post. Are you asking for opinions on how the CF-4 sounds? In a word, tremendous.
  19. bullXXX. this behavior existed before video games. The profanity is unnecessary, even the "bull" part. But my comment would address your point, after that. I am a mental health professional. I have gone to adolescent residential facilites and talked with the kids who do violence to others. I even had one youth who was locked up because he was going to blow up his high school and was specific about which kids he was going go kill. He was discovered and locked up in a locked mental health facility BEFORE that happened. This is something which would not be in the news, because it never happened. He had specific plans, a method, and a date for this. This was more than ordinary fantasy. One of the glaring characteristics was that he would spend nearly ALL of his time not in school in his mother's basement playing violent video games. I mean 18 hours straight, all night on weekends, very extreme. This goes to character development of his personality, his learned values, and his warped sense of reality. I can't give you more detail without violating confidentiality which might identify him. I know that is an anecdotal story, but there really is something going on with these video games and kids developing an anti-social personality. I'm not exactly sure what is going on with the violent video games and the addictive qualities of video games in general, but this generation of kids IS different, and I think the video games is influencing it. In what ways and to what extent has yet to be fully defined. Please understand Mr. Smith, I did not mean to make this a personal argument, but I thought if I shared some of my personal experiences as a professional that does NOT make the news, that perspective might be helpful. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Agree, disagree, it's all OK with me. You won't hurt my feelings.
  20. In orchestral music, there is the concept of having the tubas (the bells face upward, not forward) have the bass "over" the top to fill auditorium, and have the other musicians play towards the audience. Although subs are omni-directional, they were not designed to work that way. I have heard the idea of having subs face the back wall instead of forward facing, but that is only if you have specific bass requirements which can obtained from boundary gain. For a more complete explanation, see Mustang Guy's post directly upstream.
  21. The Onk 737 is the updated version of what I have, the 717. The 737 gets Bluetooth, Atmos processing, and uses its own version of Audessey. Otherwise, it looks pretty much the same (110 wpc -> 8 ohms 2 channels driven) as mine. My Onk TX-NR 717 is billed as "7.2." That means I can run 7.2 as advertised, or I can bi-amp using the surround back channels (you change the settings to bi-amp mode in the AVR software menu) making it 5.1 with bi-amp, you can't have both. My setup runs a couple of power hungry Klipsch CF-4 (dual 12 woofs) up front. I am VERY happy with 5.1. My use is mainly HDTV, lots of music, then DVD/BD movies last. It probably does DVD/BD the best. Blu Ray sound in movies is fantastic. +++ Edit: This is quoted from the Onk site on the 737, but this is the same as mine: "You can also assign the Surround Back channels to bi-amp your compatible front loudspeakers, while two parallel subwoofer outputs enable the connection of a second subwoofer for balanced and powerful bass sound."
  22. My experience with school fights, is that mere fighting is not the biggest problem; it's beat downs. If you haven't seen a Youtube sneak attack where it is planned, all the kids get out their cell phones to record the event for Youtube, and then the victim is ambushed, then pummeled while defenseless, it's disgusting. And then to the victim, it's mentally traumatizing long past the physical recovery. And girl on girl beat downs are way more common than you think.
  23. I used to run after parts from your dad's store. Those were the days... We both know that Simmon's charges too much for parts. I fixed a Passat a couple years ago, and I priced parts online. I went into Simmons with those prices and was surprised that they actually came down a little. Normally, they charge the MSRP for them. BTW, the clutch is out on my son's 2010 Accord. I will be looking into doing that this week. Not sure if I'm gonna shell out the $$$$$'s for Simmon's to do it. I've never done a Honda, but I have done an AWD Subaru a couple times. Can't be too different as they are both Japanese. I love the people at Simmons Honda, they are great, do good work and stand behind what they do. However, 90 bucks an hour for service work is 90 bucks an hour. Regarding but I would agree with you it should be fairly straightforward, and you need clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. But I suspect you already knew that. I have a guy (ironically, called the Honda Guy) who has done all my Honda work for the last 25 years. His rates are more than reasonable, and he is FAST. I'll PM you his name and number is case you want to use him. He is on 7th Street, just across from Wendy's and down the street a half a block. He may be the last of the shade tree mechanics, but he knows his Honda's inside and out.
