  1. Looks like an old SW sub, possibly the SWV with the 8" woofer and front port?
  2. I don't understand why people take these discussions so personal? Why all the put downs? If the discussion is off topic maybe another thread should be started and that may need to be pointed out but if its on topic and you don't care for the content why not just stop clicking on the thread and click on the threads that interest you? Or, if somebody says something that you don't like or disagree with, is it possible to just skip past it?

    Ulcers

Things have been going great. I've lost 20 lbs in the last 6 months (of course I've also been running about 8 miles each day) and its like a "fog" has lifted. Even though I've reduced my total caloric intake by about 1/3 and started running and lifting light weights along with sit ups each day, I actually have more energy. Not only that but I find myself watching TV less and reading more, even just plain thinking about things more than I use to, its almost like coming out of a coma.

    Ulcers

Thanks Jo! Although I have nothing really to add I appreciate your insight into the subject. I have recently switched to a natural, whole foods diet about 6 months ago and I can tell you it was very hard for me. If you go to the grocery store it seems there's only maybe 1/4 of the store dedicated to "real food" spread out through the rest of the processed foods aisles and that's at the grocery store! Every other place you go to the number of processed food options far out weigh the whole food selection making it difficult to buy a healthy meal or snack while on the go.
  5. I've gotten a lot of good deals but have had some bad experiences as well. Just recently I purchased a $1500 amplifier from a guy, sent the payment through Paypal and after the first couple of email exchanges never received the amp or heard from the guy again. I had to open a claim and it took almost a month (after waiting almost two weeks to open it) to get my money back. I never did hear back from him, not sure what happened?
  6. I like the 5500 with the Chorus II's, good sound. Good luck with your sale!

    New TV

When I went shopping for a new TV I wasn't really looking for a 4k, it just happened to be in my price range and actually less than I was expecting to pay. For a few hundred more I think it was worth it and I'm glad I spent the extra cash. We watch TV a couple of hours every night before bed and like I said everything is much clearer than before, way better picture.

    New TV

I really like my new 55" Samsung 4k TV and highly recommend it. People complain about lack of content but everything I watch looks much clearer than on my old 1080p Plasma, I'm guessing upscaling? Either way, if you're looking for something to hold onto for the next 5+ years 4k isn't really that much more and priced about where 1080p was just a few years ago. Jesse
  10. I seriously thought about bidding on these but with my recent luck with things being shipped to me I figured I'd just save myself the hassle.
  11. Love the RC-7, one of the best center speakers ever made. Good luck with your sale!
  12. I'm 39 and just bought my first lotto (powerball) ticket, at 1.3 Billion I figured why not. My daughter told me that's what old people do.. then asked me if I was there (old) already??
  13. Damn! I'm sure glad I don't live close by... Good luck with the sale!
  14. Yes, replacement parts are cheap, either re-cap the crossovers yourself or send them to Bob Crites, I believe he only charges around $100-$150 to recap and test them and turn around time is very fast. I'd order the titanium tweeters, they really do make a nice improvement and while you're at it buy the new mids as well. If nothing else you can feel good that everything is how its supposed to be and good for 20+ years. The Chorus is one of my favorite speakers but they can be a bear to work with if not in the right acoustic environment or driven with Chorus friendly gear. Bass response is there but can be hard to pull out of them, especially if room or listening position doesn't cooperate. I remember my first pair of Chorus II's, seemed like there was no bass at all. I had the speakers in both corners of the room but my seated position was in the middle of the room. When I got up and walked to the other side of the room behind my listening position the bass was overpowering, I couldn't believe it. I just happened to have my couch right in the center of a bass dead spot.
  15. Congrats! I've always wanted to try a pair out, bet they sound as good as they look.
  16. What are you driving them with? The Chorus uses a commercial grade 15" woofer and they can take a lot of power. Positioning also plays a big part, closer to an inside corner will give you more bass. Don't be afraid to turn your bass knob on your Receiver or Processor or whatever you're using a few clicks up either, especially at lower volumes. Congrats on the new Chorus 1's, once you get them set up right I'm sure you'll be very impressed with them! Jesse

    Hope and Dreams...

I just pushed in my Chorus II passive dust caps and couldn't hear any difference..
  18. $350 a pair is a great deal for these, I like them a lot better than the originals personally. The original 250's seem to have a ramped up mid horn that sounds like its tuned for outdoor PA applications. They sound good at lower volumes but get kind of screechy when you turn them up. The 250 II has a much more balanced sound like a regular home speaker. The 250 II's have the Tractrix tweeter lens like the Heresy III and a Tractrix 701 mid horn with a 2" Titanium driver for those that don't know. That mid horn is the same threading as the k-55v mid driver which sounds really good as a straight drop in replacement.
  19. $300 for a decent shape pair of Quartets isn't a bad price, I'd have no problem paying that if I were looking for a pair. The Quartets really are great speakers, kind of a mini Chorus II with great mid range detail they just lack the solid thump the Chorus provides.
  20. Your price seems very reasonable.. the one listed on eBay? You can buy a new "B" stock RC-64 II for less than his asking price!!
  21. Tacoma?? Never stop for anything in Tacoma, just keep on driving through, safer that way!
  22. I bet dollars to donuts they're Quartets.. it's all in the input cup I'm telling ya'll
  23. Congrats to both! The 2.2v would be my first choice for your current setup and its a decent speaker. A friend of mine has almost the same setup with KG 5.2's for fronts, a 2.2v center and 2.2's as rears and it is more than enough for his apartment.
  24. You are correct, the Forte 1 and Quartet have the 12" passive. What I was saying is that it has to be the Quartet because of the input cup on the back. The Forte 1 used a round one in the early years then switched to the tall rectangle one as pictured above so these have to be Quartets by default.
  25. Only the Forte 1 had the 12" passive and they had either the round input cup on the early models or the longer tall rectangle cup like in the picture above.
