  1. Ok! Now what about some acoustic foam in the doghouse? How much and where? I had seen in the promo video where an employee on the line was adding some to the new LS doghouse. There must be some merit to this if it is spec’d on the current run.
  2. Some Klipsch binding posts have a “+” or cross type fitting on the inside portion of the post to keep it from turning in the housing. These same posts also have a smaller hole in the post for bare wire. When I bought a 300’ roll of 12 gauge wire I found this out the hard way, lol. There is a really cool connector available that allows you to use spade and bare wire on the standard double banana speaker fittings. Can’t recall where I got the one set but I have seen them on different sites recently.
  3. Whatever math we all use to qualify our decisions sometimes makes PERFECT sense applied as a yearly cost. Six grand over a modest ten years of sonic bliss is a meagre 600 bucks a year. What’s that, the cost of a daily cup of coffee? “For the price of a cup of coffee every day you COULD be listening to Cornwall’s!” LOL! That should be KLIPSCH’S new marketing slogan!
  4. Sweet! Did you snag the AA crossovers from the garage sale section here?

    Happy New Year

Happy New Year! None of us has it altogether, but together we have it all, lol Thanks to everyone for sharing.
  6. The RF7’s are spec’d at 32 hz -3db with 102 db sensitivity and the CP-1’s are 38 hz -4db with a 100 db sensitivity. The separate midrange of the CP-1’s and corresponding MUCH lower crossover from the woofer would likely not result in the perceived bass you are craving. They will rock, to be sure, but you are going to get a lot more midrange information than accustomed to and that will “distract” you from the bass. Having said that though, if I didn’t already have a pair of Cornwalls, I would be gassing up for the 90 minute drive... Lots of potential here
  7. It means the person you got them from had SIX pairs of Chorus 2’s...! ...only in Florida...
  8. Oh, another nifty thing about the risers is you can unscrew them and turn the more damaged areas to the back or side less visible!
  9. Too funny, was just in the same boat. The pair I had was so far gone I had NOTHING to lose by trying the “Sharpie method”. It literally was down to bare wood on close to half of the surface. Like a picnic table after ten years of the elements. If you smudge the marker with your fingertip before it dries (yes, you will look like you were just printed at the station) it rubs away the purple. I took it a step further by applying Antique Oil and rubbing it off.
  10. The K-75 is the same horn lens and magnet as the K-79 MINUS the ferrofluid. So the power handling is less. There are at least three different magnets that go on that lens. And there are at least three different diaphragms that fit that magnet structure, the black shiny one being the least ear friendly, phenolic, and titanium being the end goal. Depending on the condition of the existing K-79 in your CW2’s it may be of little consequence as ferrofluid dries out over time anyway. There are little bottles of the stuff available if you wish to refresh it. Ferrofluid MAY also impart some other sonic qualities (damping) but if you carefully remove the diaphragm in your existing K-79 and clean out the gap in the magnet where the coil sits you would have apples to apples left and right. I would wait for a K-79. You would no doubt just get back from the mailbox only to find one just listed. If you are anxious to hear them (I would be) you could always borrow a K-79 from your Chorus 2’s in the meantime. Either way, get a pair (or two) of the titanium tweeter diaphragms for down the road. They are pretty much not optional if you are keeping either pair.
  11. ...I’m surprised there isn’t a k-79 on eBay right now! Having said that, have you tested all the other components? That cabinet has HUGE potential as a Cornscala should all else fail, or otherwise lead that way.
  12. ANY woodworking process, no matter how boring, is therapeutic! And The Fifteens ARE the future!
  13. Interesting idea. Something like a Boston Acoustics A200...? I wonder how the Kappa 15C would perform in a sealed cabinet/acoustic suspension/infinite baffle? The short Xmax would suit it. Punchy for sure.
  14. ...it’d make for some mighty fine s.k.e.e.t shootin’ !
  15. Doesn’t Volti Audio use the Faital Pro 15 PR 400 C?
  16. That’s a lot of money for a project you may or may not want to complete. Stash the cash in the top drawer of your dresser in an envelope marked Klipsch and hold out for what you really want. It is amazing what you can find when you are vigilant.
  17. I think this may fall under the category of, ahem, “paraphernalia”... along with glass pipes, aluminum foil, or a spoon. But if you already had enough pocket knives and LED flashlights to stock a hardware store, this would be right up there on the list of must-haves! Full disclosure, I have something very similar that you slot a refillable lighter into and you can rough solder in anything less than a tornado.
  18. Up here they call them “Citiots”
  19. I was wondering if anyone had pulled a woofer out of the CW4 yet to see how it was braced! Also curious if the “shelf” port has been completely replaced by the tractrix ports...
