Crites crossovers and diaphragms are awesome in Heresy’s!
Panelhead replied to chapin99's topic in General Klipsch Info
Good to see the support extends to females. Bob is a true asset. Where do you source four channel program material? -
Is this how you spend your vacations?

I am not sure my SE84 cost 400.00 new. Might have been 349.00.

Suggestions for Replacement Subwoofers for La Scala
Panelhead replied to DWALT's topic in General Klipsch Info
DC was May thought. A shorted output device may allow dc rail voltage on output. -
I purchased a Marshall Stanmore about 4 years ago and gave to my wife. She used it to play her music. Bee Gees, ABBA, Michael Blublay. About two years ago our son drug it up to his room. Hard rap (bad words) at house shaking levels for the last two years. Still plays fine after that abuse. Our son thinks it is awesome. Cannot believe how loud it plays. I will stick with Heritage series from Klipsch. Do not want number one son so to figure out how loud the La Sala’s and a sub can play what he calls music. I am sure it can put cracks in either the Sheetrock or Windows.

I bought a nice pair of used speakers. Met half way on the interstate. Owner said he was selling because they were “rolled off” on top. When I hooked up no highs. Both Dynaudio D-28 tweeters were dead. The crossovers were first order so the mids ran a little higher than normal. Found a NIB pair and they sang like birds again. I do not know how long the previous owner listened with no tweeters. Suspect an oscillating amp killed them. Those D-28 tweeters could handle some power, even with first order crossovers at 4K.

I am jealous. The veneer on my top hats wraps around perfectly. But only one of the four sides has matching veneer on bass bin and top hat.

Current model Cornwall III, Heresy III, or Forte III
Panelhead replied to Dave A's topic in General Klipsch Info
Dave, I have a pair of Heresy III. I can pull one out to measure and take pictures. George -
Considering how long the new Klipschorn has been coming I expect this to appear for sale in 2020. But I want a pair. Or the crossovers and tweeters to convert my LS ii. Can only wish. The LS ii are amazing. Wonder what magic they have worked into these new ones?

I do it the non-repeatable way. Play some tracks I like several times. Then perform the mods to both speakers. Then relisten. If the change is not real evident it is a wash. It should be clear if it is better or worse. Wires, brands of caps, and resistors are all usually hard to honestly hear. At least to me. Items like changing oil caps to poly film caps, solid core versus stranded wire, and metal foil resistors vs sand cast are easier to differentiate.

So what happened to all those damaged Adorama Speakers?
Panelhead replied to MEH Synergy's topic in General Klipsch Info
I have now purchased two items from them. Price was the lowest I could find. Both are fine products. Not sure the distribution that damages these speakers. Mine were palletized and in original boxes. Arrived in new condition. My second order was a 33’ Thunderbolt optical fiber cable to allow moving the dac further from the computer. Working fine so far. -
Saw an interesting amp, Acuhorn Stereo3. Single ended solid state from Poland.

Great looking. They sure would look good at my house.

I think the impedance plot of the 15 inch driver looks flawed. Should have a lot of inductance and this would lead to ever increasing impedance and phase angle. The high output impedance of the ACA may just be interacting with this. The match may not be made in Heaven.

Saw the listing a few weeks ago. Price is high. Plus only breaking in a pair of LS ii. But I still want them.

I like the picture. I used to build horns for Lowther drivers. About my fourth cabinet I started to go over the top on details. I would put two 45 degree bevels on the inside wall. Not audible, just makes you feel like it has been done as well as possible. Same with the braces, I would bevel them for airflow. It would take maybe two hours to do the bevels with a router bit. Make it a 42 hour project instead of a 40 hour. But great work there.

My wife would kick me out, but I would give 5k for a pair of 60th Klipschorns.

Looks good. Nice upgrade.

Is this the difference you saw when comparing your La Scala ii to the new 70th Anniversary model? I saw where you said one resistor was missing in the 70th model. They have been very successful in dialing the crossovers in.

I am sad with the passing of John McCain. I doubt if my politics aligns completely with anyone else’s. Here and elsewhere. Do not sweat it. He had to be one tough SOB. The type of injuries and then torture he received in North Vietnam permanently effected many returning Veterans. It seemed to make his resolve and work ethic stronger. I think McCain was an anomaly. A honest politician. Was in it because he cared about this Great Country. Gave more to it than almost everyone. Way more than me. The fact his beliefs were different than mine is minor. We do not all have to agree. His family is rightfully proud of his Legacy. If he had made a better choice for running mate I think he would have become President of this Great Country. He said a real funny about losing the election. He commented that he had been sleeping like a baby after the 2008 election loss. Said he would sleep for two hours, wake up and cry. Then fall asleep again and sleep for two more hours. Then wake up and cry some more.

Since it is a kit I wonder if the power transformer can be installed below the top plate.

They are very impressive. Looking forward to hearing them.

Will there be new versions of the Heritage family after the Klipschorns?
