  1. OK, Now the real reason I'm curious is ....I picked up a nice Sansui set and it sounds great. I mean it's got lots of power (DB wise) and is crazy heavy. So I'm thinkin' is this the original sound, or could it be even better with new caps etc..?
  2. I'm gonna start by saying what I know about caps would not fill a small sticky note. I certainly don't think all amps sound the same....but.... I do have a ? Do caps all sound the same if they have the same values/specs ? I recall Bob Carvers challenge to stereophile I think it was. He said he could equal Conrad Johnson sound for 1/10 the cost. He challenged anyone to pick the CJ consistently. Stereophile admitted no one could pick the difference, except they preferred the Carver. I post from memory but I think that was the basics of it. I suppose my point was Bob always refuted the high dollar caps etc....But, maybe cheap caps don't last or perform as intended for years/decades?
  3. Hmmm...... the idea all amps sound alike, even source gear is very interesting. The bad part is when we turn 10 and realize they mostly sound different. It don't matter if they do or don't. Ya buy the best amp and gear you can afford based on your enthusiasm , be it new or used and enjoy.........I also need to get my post count over 5000 someday so.............
  4. Edited and thanks, to you /all correct. Front is passive, rear driver. My 15 is the driver/rear, thanks again for noting. I knew that from placement issues over the years, talking while typing......
  5. I have a new, never used, in the box, rsw 15 original driver. This is the rear facing speaker. I could only find generic replacements starting at a few hundred and up. Asking $275

    RIP Burt Reynolds

The late GREAT Burt Reynolds! He's was one of the real great actors and cool customers.RIP
  7. I have had many Klipsch. I always consider them weak on bass. I hooked my klf 30's to a 1973 Sansui and the bass was off the hook. I had to go negative on the bass knob. I've had em' hooked to multi thousand dollar amps and never achieved that cerwin vega bass. I never considered a sub a waste with Klipsch till I turned em' off and never noticed. Just my take....
  8. Yes analog, but considering dac, good idea. Yes to Full Dynamic Range. I have a seagate 3tb media that stores my flac and it has a basic app that works well.
  9. Just fyi, I have 20's/30's with no rattle, ymmv. Also the 20's can hang with 30's pretty well, imo.
  10. I just wanted to post in the event this has not been noted. I've had a au9500 I wanted to incorporate into my listening room but the no remote thing made it something I didn't do. I know there are other ways but for me a simple 2 minute way was to hook a Chrome audio player to it and send FLAC files from my server, or any source on my screen. I control everything from my phone or tablet so its giving the old Sansui a chance to be smart instead of just pretty, for $25. My set looks just like this but my pics exede the 2 mb so this was easier. Again just wanted to post fyi for those looking for easy and cheap without searching alot.
  11. Maybe not my Greatest album in history but certainly one of Dread's best. Great band core members and even the passers by were cool. Been many years since I saw em' but the memories will last forever....For me it would be hard to come up with the best 100 albums. So much music so few years.........
  12. Just for anyone reading this old thread in the future...........keep in mind the source is hardly mentioned. Is this listening on a good source, media, quality units??? Entry level Yamaha??? ehh....I can make most any speaker sound good or really bad based on media, source, pre, amp, room etc......I have 61"s and find them rather good for an inexpensive speaker. Sometimes these threads just make little sense........but who knows how many people stumble across them and draw info ??

    Chuck Berry

There has been many of the Greats in Rock to pass, but Chuck was the guy that brought it all together for me. Like many of the Greats to pass, the world is not likely to see his impact again. Thanks for making Rock really Roll Chuck B
  14. I have 50ft generic to my projector, $20, never an issue in 6 years. Just read specs and get the best wire gauge in the price range. The only thing would be note the specs for latest version of HDMI.
  15. Actually analysis of music listening gear and methods and all that goes along is what had ruined it for me. Listening to the music and enjoying that has made my listening much more enjoyable in the past few years.
  16. Yes....very sad, always seemed nice and quite the looker. RIP
  17. I have not had a radio with loudness button for some decades but.......I liked em if done kinda right. Dolby Volume has a setting (1) on most implementatios for this purpose and works really good. As mentioned Audyssey Dynamic EQ also does pretty good. With most Klipsch you need all the help you can get with bass/low freq......at lower volumes....

    Fidel Castro Dead

Wow....it's about time. He is the one I often mention when good people die, why don't bastards like that ever die young.

    Leon Russell RIP

If it's true it's very bad news. Leon made a huge impact on my musical life, Leon Live is one of the greatest recordings ever made in my book. I am glad there are at least a few members still here that know who Leon is. RIP to a fantastic musician and singer. Get outta here Hippy boy !
  20. If we want big sound we get big speakers. That includes driver and cabinet size. I like subs as good as the next guy, but bigger is just better to me at least. I have owned many Klipsch, they struggle with powerful bass, imo.

    RIP Arnold

As many Greats keep passing over, its understandable why the world is less great everyday. RIP
  22. I could not find any mention here of that tragic day. I'm sure there were many discussions, all cleaned up? Who knows, maybe I just don't know how to find them. I still wanted to note that those people/families and our Country, USA, hopefully will never forget the Evil that was commited that day.
  23. Ahh.....I recall the good ole daze when Trey was the "sorta" moderator. He stopped by every week or two just to make sure there were no murders. We've had some epic battles, lasting days or weeks. I never haggled with one member that I wanted to see leave the forum. I've never contacted a moderator or anyone else to complain about a member. I do understand Klipsch position, they sell audio gear, not boxing gear. This forum has become slightly less entertaining , in all honesty. BUT...it still has great members with a wealth of knowledge and most very helpful.

    RIP Gene Wilder.

It's said a lot...but he is truly one of the few really great. The world is a little less without him.
