  1. Yeah damn things don't do anything except rattle when I listen to Ozzy anyways.
  2. Well it's up to two now. Picked up a pair of Polk Audio speakers, repaired the Fisher 440T receiver and paired them up. Listening to Crack The Sky on it right now. Progress...
  3. Well it's repaired and playing through the Polk 5b I picked up this week. Thanks for the help. BTW CaptainBeefheart I just snipped the cap and no noise other than a little hiss at high volumes w/o anything playing but that was there before.

    What I Got Today!

A quick photo of my $25 speakers. Still listening to them. Really surprised how they sound. EDIT:Is it normal for speakers that have sat for a long time to improve after playing for a few days? They seem to have gotten better a couple days or is it my brain lying to me?
  5. Surprised me as I'd no idea of his illness. thanks for all the goofy shit Gilbert.

    What I Got Today!

Picked up a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 5b. A little scruffy but what do ya want for $25? Listening to Diana Krall and Nina Simone coming up. Nice little speaker that will pair with the Fisher 440T when I finish repair. Now if I can just find a nice deal on some Heresy.
  7. It's a site supported by a large company with a reputation to protect. There are plenty of places to see that so you lose nothing unless you leave here because of it.
  8. Didn't pay attention to the thread. Like I said I'm here for the speakers.
  9. I am asked to accept LGBTQ publicly (which I do-who am I to tell someone how to live?) yet something as bland as a woman's seat is offensive? Man we're a confused bunch. But I do come here for the speakers.
  10. Start the day with the same thing almost every day. I jumbo egg/1 slice scrapple/homemade bread toasted/coffee.
  11. I'm hearing that as "we each expect and hear the same thing differently." Kind of the Observer Effect/Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle in audio terms.
  12. This is turning out to be very interesting. I was hoping he'd buy the speakers.
  13. Thieves have no problem with that.
  14. Link not working anymore.
  15. OK...just how do you make that mistake?
  16. Guess I could sell the Harley. Nah can't do that. Thanks for the photos they are gorgeous speakers.
  17. My new Klipsch did that with a couple records early on. Seems to have subsided over the year and a half I've had them. One record still does it on one section but I just live with it.

  19. Would you care to elaborate on those differences for me? That was my intent for the "ill posed" query. I do understand the "horses for courses" philosophy.
  20. As a rank amateur to electronics I am baffled by the subject but interested. I've found that low cost doesn't necessarily mean low performance. That's true in my field as well however you must choose carefully. So is a class D inherently inferior to class A? Or does it carry a stigma from past attempts being less than? I am surprised...no stunned at the amount of detail I was missing w/the old Fisher. it's so much easier to discern the various instruments and separate them in my head to listen. I had read that these inexpensive Chinese amps were surprisingly good deals for the money. Do the class A amps (Schiit Aegis?) actually sound that much better? if not what's the advantage of the other types of amps?
