Cal Blacksmith
I went back to search some of my old posts while looking for something. It really brought back some memories.[:|] Who remembers Lynn? Win? Dodger? Nicolti? Lots of "voices" that have been quiet for a long time. I even dug up a 5 year old thread cuz I thougt it may be of value to the newer members and bring back a few memories to the older guys. Take some time and look at your old posts, start at the start of your time here. See how far you have progressed. I was taken aback at the number of HTs that were based on TUBE TVs when I first started here. There are some funny things and some sad ones but take some time to look back. It may make you smile a little, cry a little and be glad you took the time.[]
Invidiosulus
I've gone through college, gotten married, changed careers, and had 3 kids since I first joined. -josh
BigStewMan
I remember Nicolti--never met him; but, i think he lived in los angeles. if memory serves me well, he posted pix of his set-up and he had some real nice gear. Just recently i was wondering whatever happened to him. I also remember this real cool cat named Colter; but, hardly ever hear from him anymore. And I'll take this opportunity to once again say RIP my friend OldBuckster.

Fish
Many of the best ones have been locked/removed. I agree.....the only banning I ever supported was some nut posting porn. Great idea Cal, I have done it before, there are several wise members that passed and are missed since I joined.I recall the old days before Amy when we used to have awsome fights, very entertaining for us, not for Klipsch. What about Duke Spinner ? yeah i know Colter is still alive & well--I was just trying to bait him into making a cameo post. I've exchanged several PMs with him and have always enjoyed the exchange. Sadly, being out here in the wild, wild west coast, i've never gotten the opportunity to meet him or many of the others that i talk to regularly--yourself included Mr. Dtel. You seem like a fine dude too. in a way, this forum reminds me of being in the military--you get to know a some folks and then they're gone. But I'll stick around to be a pain in your neck, that is my pledge to you!
Moderators dtel Posted August 26, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 26, 2011 But I'll stick around to be a pain in your neck, that is my pledge to you! Well i was kind of expecting that ! [Y] I had a chance to meet a bunch of people here at a few different places, I have to say everyone was VERY nice, they looked totally different than what you picture in your head. [] It was strange in a way, everyone had name tags on. You have talked with them many times and then in person for a few minutes not really knowing who they are, then you see the name and you remember the person behind the forum name. Groomlakearea51
Fender's been really busy as well. He's doing fine though. Many, if not most ot the "ascerbic" folks seem to have gone on to other things, etc. I find the Forum much fun and am always meeting (at least via phone, PM and email) nice folks. Rick
I remember a few years back there was a fellow named tommyboy who posted here a lot, his signature was "it's sort of like Synergy on steroids". He hasn't posted since June 13th, 2009. I have wondered what happened to him? http://community.klipsch.com/members/tommyboy.aspx
Marvel
I hope Tommyboy survived his military time. We've lost too many. Lots of great folks on here, for sure. Bruce

Cal Blacksmith
I forgot about the "fights", there were some rough times.... but fun! I did get to meet Nick, I was very positivly impressed with him. It was at a gathering we had in So Cal, I guess pre 2006, just saying the date makes it seem so long ago! VRDs were just making their mark J4Knee brought his and they were very nice indeed. I do hope those who were serving have just fallen away from the board, not fallen in real life. OB and I got along pretty well, on and off board, I neglected to mention him in my first post, as I had so many others too. I got some very good advice here over the years, some of it from still active members, some of it from those who have left us. In my time here, I have had support in my gastric bypass surgery, my kidney cancer surgery, my blood clot to the lungs recovery, my sons accident well wishers, support for his entry to the millitary and so many other things that it is hard to recall half of them. I do want to express my thanks to those who have enriched my life, given me a hard time and have become virtual friends here. Thanks to Klipsch for this place to gather and share with people who are like minded and those who see things from a different point of view, all have added to my life. Groomlakearea51
Some thoughts.... In a way, it's a "cyber-neighborhood" or cyber-town (Klipschville..), complete with a small mall (Klipsch Direct Buy), audio-electronics store (Garage section). You can live here, visit friends who live here, drive through every once in awhile, or hang out in the neighborhood "cyber-pub sub-forums". You can also get arrested and thrown in the town jail (banned...) for disturbing the peace. Not sure who the Mayor is, but the town council surely are Amy, Trey, etc. The members all have various and ever changing "roles". Examples that come to mind. Colter is the "pro" consultant. NOSValves, mdeneen are tube consultants; Fini and dtel are the stand-up comedy guys; etc. etc. We've watched (or read..), births, marriages, divorces passing of members to the big Klipsch THX Theater in the hereafter (RIP, OB and the others[]). We watch with more than passing interest as the outside world affects our social lives, our economy, our politics, and our interests & dislikes. We've seen the comings and goings of bad "neighbors" (only a few, for the most part), and the arrival of nice new folks who have moved into town. How do you characterize your "role" in the neighborhood? [] I like to characterize myself as the strange allegedly homeless guy that lives under the overpass on the way in to Klipschville, and a consulting meteorologist. [6] Here's a thought for thought.... How has your role changed since you joined? [H]
Moderators dtel Posted August 30, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 30, 2011 I like to characterize myself as the strange allegedly homeless guy that lives under the overpass on the way in to Klipschville, and a consulting meteorologist. And also someone who really knows how to rebuild Heritage and does a great job of veneering and refinishing, and don't forget inventor of "the wall of voodoo" , and possibly inventor of SWMBO ! And an expert on dodging pots when needed. Here's a thought for thought.... How has your role changed since you joined? Easy, my role has changed alot..... I went from someone looking for smart answers from the people who know the answers, and having no Klipsch. TO a much improved... Someone looking to smart answers from the people who know the answers, and having a bunch of Klipsch. I am feeling much better now. [] Not even counting all the great people we have met. Bruce anyone know his full name? each service has a locator, if we had his name we could check and see where he is currently stationed.
