Marvel Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Her students really liked her a lot. At least the girls, not so sure about the guys. I think culturally, she was more confident than they liked. Quote

BusaDude Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 These were taken about 11 years ago... Canon 20D with a Sigma 120-300mm zoom (Gorilla - FTW Zoo) and Canon 100mm Macro (Ladybug & Flowers - Dallas Arboretum). These are low res crops taken from my Facebook page. 5 Quote

JL Sargent Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 very nice pictures despite the sigma... I have a couple of Sigmas myself and have been really happy with them. I always compare the price on similar Sigmas with the Canon L glass I prefer. Sigma makes a monster fast outdoor lens. Its 200-500mm F2.8 at a whopping $25K. Quote

These are low res crops taken from my Facebook page. very nice pictures despite the sigma... That was the old 120-300mm f2.8... It was very sharp from f4 on up (mine was). And even then it was a LOT cheaper than any comparable Canon L fixed length 200mm or 300mm f2.8. Lots of people thought poorly of them, but it was an excellent lense. And when you consider the 1.6x focal length multiplier of the APS-C sized sensor in the 20D, it was effectively 480mm on the long end. The new Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 is even better, and much more expensive at $3K or so. But still about $3K less than a current Canon 300mm f2.8 fixed length telephoto. I managed to put together a decent set... Canon 17-40mm f4/L Canon 85mm F1.8 Canon 100mm macro Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 Wish I still had it all... Quote
