Not sure about the heat index, I don't really keep up with it, we rarely get to 100, usually mid to high 90's and high humidity. Forgot about cramps, your right it seems I have them more often if I just drink water,  it seems to be a little less with some of the other drinks similar to gatorade.

For 20+ years we worked outside everyday before retiring around 06, installing landscaping/irrigation. But being older and not doing it everyday now makes it seem worse. I do make sure I cool off when needed, it was much worse a couple years ago while taking blood pressure medicine, if I got a little overheated I would get dizzy to the point of needing to hold onto something at times.

I spent many years of my youth living in the desert. We would play ball in 110 degree heat and it didn’t bother us. When i got to be 16, i was setting up mobile homes and doing roofing work. Putting the roof cap on a mobile home with an aluminum roof when it’s 110 degrees--you can not only feel the heat through your shoes; but, it is blinding as well. The sun reflecting off the roof is torture.  We tried to do the roof work first thing in the morning, and save the inside or underneath the coach work for the afternoon; but, that didn’t always work out and sometimes you just had to suck it up and bear the heat. I’d soak my hat in cold water and sometimes soak a shirt, then wear it till it dried, then wet it again. I very rarely wore a shirt during the summer. I have olive complexion from my Portuguese roots, so I get REAL dark when i’m in the sun.  Nowadays, i can’t handle the heat and I overheat VERY quickly.

The local media likes to thrive on heat index talk. I don't remember any of that talk growing up, so I just suck it up and move along. I do drink plenty of water, and add in some Gatorade, but the key for me to cope with the heat is to eat also, even if I don't feel like it.

I think age does make us more susceptible to overheating. I really don't remember the heat affecting me any as a kid. The house I grew up in didn't have AC till I was about 17. My Dad's family roots are from Spain, him and an older brother get very dark, I have my Mom's English skin, I get more red than brown.

The path will change 5 times by the time it hits.  Good idea to pay attention however which I know you will do.

Saw three changes since yesterday. All of them slowly west. Hope you all can be spared the worst, wherever it should go.
