Moderators Travis In Austin Posted January 1, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 1, 2016 Anyone having them for New Year's, or is it just a Southern thang? If you are fixing them do you eat 'em at midnight, or New Year's Day? Do you put greens in 'em, is so what? Dried or fresh?

Mallette
Iowa, Ohio, and Colorado. What a surprise! No tradition. No BEPs here tonight due to the move. Leftover Chinese from last night due to the move. OTOH, nice bottle of real French champagne to toast our last night in Seabrook before heading to our new home in Texarkana tomorrow 45 years after leaving there. Next year, BEPs and cornbread as God has commanded. Well, I think He has. Don't have a scripture to support that but it seems to be the case... Moderators Travis In Austin Posted January 1, 2016 Author Moderators Share Posted January 1, 2016 Going to go with fresh, normally eat them during the day, but my GF says you eat em right after midnight. You have to have green in them ir it doesn't work, and you have to eat at leat 365 of them.

willland
Must be eaten with collards. With skillet cornbread and rice. That's the way us Georgia folks do it. Bill Edited January 1, 2016 by willland

T2K
Had black-eye peas, boiled cabbage, mashed potatoes, cubed pork chops and corned bread for dinner. Washed it down with sweet-tea. Keith
oldtimer
Any green will do as an accompaniment. I like mustard greens. It doesn't have to be right after midnight, just at the New years day feast. Love'em.
Deronb1
Pork roast, saurkraut and mashed potatos. Never thought of Black Eyed Peas as a tradition in the frozen tundra of Ohio.
