Fans or not?

Until you run output tubes like the Russian 6c33c, 845, 211 or the like you have no idea of what "hot" amps really are. Try running monoblocks with a quad of 6c33's each Then you understand Hot. Even Class A solid state are tame in comparison. Fans would certainly be recommended for the later. Like a fool I once ran monos with two 6c33 each in a wood cabinet. Tubes themselves were probably around 6 inches from the cabinet sides. When I started sensing what smelled like a charcoal fire, I looked into the cabinet to see the the finish was actually smoking from tube heat. Damn things are like a nuclear reactor. But they sound tremendous. And don't forget they are designed to run electronics in Russian Mig fighter jets. I have since sold all that type of amp and only use them in my surplus Migs!

I use smaller silent computer fans (12v) hooked to a wall converter.  They're plugged into a switched outlet so when I turn my pre amp or receiver on they automatically turn on.

Great idea. I thought of doing something similar but thought a little larger fan would push more air. Just made the post to see if others thought it was a good idea to keep the equipment running cooler.

My rig is boxed into a wall unit, (open both front & back), and while I have spacers between the amp & Pre, I run a Vornado Zippi fan with the nylon strips for blades, in there to keep the air circulating. Although it isn't the most silent of fans, i cannot hear it when the music is playing. Works for me. I just have to turn it on first and off last.

Does anyone else do this.

No but I do use smaller amps and they only get warm, not hot and surely less expensive than those.

I do like the mardi gras beads, and the art, very cool.

Curious, is it better to use a fan to blow cool air on the internals, or is it better to position to pull heat away from them?  Or, does it matter?  My wife will do nothing outside.  She swears she's allergic to dirt.  I do all of the outside stuff by myself.  Although, I don't have to do much on the inside.  Works well in Winter when all I have to do is shovel snow.

Something like this, perhaps?

Vanble Dual USB Portable 15.6-17 Inches Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Blue LED Fans - Black

I was thinking the same thing.  Those laptop coolers are virtually silent.

You could power it with a wall plug with a USB port in it.

True... I have a 6c33c-b monos on PP mode and an integrated amp with 1 tube per channel on conservative 15 watt SE mode. The integrated amp runs hot even if I use a direct fan. Not like the push-pull dual tubes which I can easily control the temperature.

BTW:   I was wondering if anyone can help out. I need to buy a 6c33c-b tube tester for personal use only so I would know if my tubes are match within. from time to time. Thanks CCG
