wvu80
I'm always amused when they show the race highlights. They just replay the entire thing. 🐎

rplace
I think the letter of the law was applied. That said the best horse did not win. While #7 may have gone off its line and impeded 1 or 2 others it would have in no way (IMO) kept any other horse from crossing the line first. If anything "toddy" would have finished higher than the eventual winner after the best of the best was DQed.
oldtimer
The best horse cheated then. Watching the tape it was a miracle that a huge disaster did not happen as a result of veering out of lane. Several horses could have been put down if the worst happened as a result.

JL Sargent
Veering out of lane? Happens all the time, rarely gets called.

Bosco-d-gama
The Mrs, an avid horse rider, said that in such muddy conditions that horses innately seek the safest and best footing. No casual rider that cares about their animal runs them on slick slippery terrains.
JJkizak
I believe that this action was sending a message to the jockies----"Keep bending the rules and your fingers (and pocketbook) will get burned." That's why the decision was unanimous. JJK
oldtimer
No. It is just an interpretation of the rules. We see it in lots of sports. The most moronic opinion tried to tie political correctness into it.
