oldtimer Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Have some Stones on me OB. Sympathy for the Devil/Jagger, Richards Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long year, Stole many a man's soul and faith And I was 'round when Jesus Christ, Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate, Washed his hands and sealed his fate CHORUS: Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game I stuck around St. Petersberg, When I saw it was a time for a change Killed the Czar and his ministers, Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank, Held a general's rank, When the Blitzkrieg raged, And the bodies stank CHORUS I watched with glee, While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades, For the Gods they made I shouted out, "Who killed the Kennedys?" When after all, It was you and me Let me please introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste And I laid traps for troubadors, Who get killed before they reached Bombay CHORUS Just as every cop is a criminal, And all the sinners Saints As heads is tails, Just call me Lucifer, 'Cause I'm in need of some restraint So if you meet me, Have some courtesy, Have some sympathy, and some taste Use all your well-learned politesse, Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah CHORUS Woo, who, Oh yeah, get on down, Oh yeah, Oh yeah! colterphoto1 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 "Moonlight Mile" is a song from rock band The Rolling Stones' 1971 release Sticky Fingers. Credited to singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, "Moonlight Mile" is widely considered to be one of the Rolling Stones greatest ballads.[1] Recording began in March 1970 at Stargroves. The song was the product of an all-night session between Jagger and guitarist Mick Taylor.Taylor had taken a short guitar piece recorded by Richards (entitled"Japanese Thing") and reworked it for the session. Jagger performs thesong's prominent acoustic guitar riff. It was Taylor's idea to add a string arrangement by Paul Buckmaster to the song. Piano is played by regular Stones trumpet player Jim Price. Like many of the Stones songs, the meaning of the song's lyrics areelliptical and mysterious, but some of the lyrics make direct referenceto the alienation of living a life on the road. “ The sound of strangerssending nothing to my mind; Just another mad mad day on the road; I amjust living to be lying by your side, But I'm just about a moonlightmile on down the road ” Quote
colterphoto1 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 MOONLIGHT MILE (M. Jagger/K. Richards) When the wind blows and the rain feels cold With a head full of snow With a head full of snow In the window there's a face you know Don't the night pass slow Don't the nights pass slow The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind Just another mad mad day on the road I am just living to be lying by your side But I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road Made a rag pile of my shiny clothes Gonna warm my bones Gonna warm my bones I got silence on my radio Let the air waves flow Let the air waves flow Oh I'm sleeping under strange strange skies Just another mad mad day on the road My dreams is fading down the railway line I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming I'm riding down your moonlight mile I'm hiding baby and I'm dreaming I'm riding down your moonlight mile I'm riding down you moonlight mile Let it go now, come on up babe Yeah, let it go now Yeah, flow now baby Yeah move on now yeah Yeah, I'm coming home 'Cause, I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road Down the road, down the road Yeah, yeah, hey hey hey baby, now Quote

YoungBuckster Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 All, As I’m sure you can figure out by the name, I am Rob’s Son Jeff. I can speak for my entire family when I say we are blown away by everyone’s support and words. My father enjoyed this forum very much, but we never knew the magnitude of relationships he established with you guys. This forum provided my father with enjoyment and a way to express himself while he was home. I would like everyone to know that as sudden as the last days were, he passed with his family by his side. He was able to make peace with his situation and the people who meant the most to him. As you all know, The Stones are the greatest band in the world. His best friend arrived to the hospital 40 minutes prior to his passing. Like a man on a mission from God, he walked in the room and had me turn on “Wild Horses,” their favorite song. Shortly after my father passed in peace with the words of Jagger and Richards echoing in his head. Again, I thank everyone for their kind words. It means so much. For you guys to say such kind things makes me feel as though you are distant friends of mine. Still trying to figure out how to attch his pic. Quote
SilverSport Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Jeff...your Family just got bigger...your Dad meant a lot to many of us even those of us who only "spoke" with him through the internet and personal email...I will miss my Friend but his memories make him live on forever... Bill Quote
pmsummer Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Wild Horses Childhood living is easy to do The things you wanted I bought them for you Graceless lady, you know who I am, You know I can't let you slide through my hands Wild Horses, Couldn't drag me away, Wild, wild horses, Couldn't drag me away... I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain Now you decided to show me the same No sweeping exits or offstage lines, Can make me feel bitter or treat you unkind Wild Horses, Couldn't drag me away, Wild, wild horses, Couldn't drag me away... I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie, I have my freedom but I don't have much time Faith has been broken tears must be cried, Let's do some living after we die Wild Horses, Couldn't drag me away, Wild, wild horses, We'll ride them someday Wild Horses, Couldn't drag me away, Wild, wild horses, We'll ride them someday Quote

Coytee Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Welcome Rob and as has been said...don't be a stranger. Perhaps a thought for you that maybe (not now), you can later look into...after some of your own healing time has passed. I'm sure everyone would love to hear some of your stories about your father. Not necessarily anything personal... I'm sure you might have an idea of what I mean. Just something fun about him that might be nice conversation for outsiders to hear. It might be nice (cathartic) for you to share your stories of him with us and most of us would appreciate knowing him a bit more in depth as most of us never got the chance to meet him. Did he ever get to hang those Maxell posters up? (the speaker blowing the guy in the chair away) He wanted one of those and evidently, Maxell had run out but I had two of them that I knew I'd never use so I sent them both to him. Again, condolences to you & your family. (affectionately called by your father) bass-turd! [] Quote
