  1. Hello Klipsch fans, I have been to hundreds of symphony orchestra performances, off-Broadway musical theater shows and decades of rock concerts. At the end of the day, it is always a pleasure to get home and listen to my Klipsch speakers. I would like to join your Klipsch Forum. You folks are a very friendly, interesting and intellectually generous group of people. Here is a picture of one of my classic Rosewood Klipschorns. Thanks

  2. Chad, if I use the advanced search and try searching for RF-7 with "All words" and youthman as the Author, I get zero results. I have posted MANY threads about the RF-7's so I cannot figure out what the magic formula is to be able to locate previous threads that I've started. Any advice?

  4. You smell worse after the shower? Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where the valet had such horrible BO that the smell attached itself to his car and he couldn't get rid of the smell.

  5. Thanks for the kind words guys, very much appreciated. Thanks mach-1 for posting the video, I haven't seen it in years and it brought back some great memories. I'm sorry for not getting on the forum very often and I don't post much either. I kinda keep a low profile but nobody loves talking klipsch speakers more than I do. You can ask twistedcrankcammer or dtel. I've been a klipsch fanatic since 1976. If anybody would like to chat with me about my collection of klipsch speakers I'd love to hear from you. My cell number is 337 298-4773 Give me a call sometime mach-1, I'd love to talk klipsch with you and answer any questions you have, that is provided I know the answers Kevin Harmon

  7. Got an email from Klipsch about the new Klipsch Store. Got some pretty sweet items in there. Nice job on the store website Chad. Looks like they have some new Apparel but none of them are available for purchase. I like the real wood iPhone cases.

  8. Awhile back I upped an old pair of hii's to hiii's with the klipsch kit. I've recently bought a set of forte ii's. I've read the popular mod's and am a big fan of alk's xo's and plan to put alk's forte xo's in my set. Question, once I install the alk forte xo's, can I simply swap my hiii and fii tweeter and squawker diaphragms? The goal is to maximize the fortes, while the heresies do bedroom duty, for the least $. Thanks, Gregg

  9. ... so we can know what we are listening to. For instance, I've heard that some Regal theaters use Klipsch, but which theaters and which speakers? An online list would be great. The theater managers (if any) seem to be largely clueless ...... or maybe I've just had bad luck.

  12. Thank you for the warm welcome. Here is a picture of the other corner. To answer the question about my opinion on wires and cables, the mirror is hanging by fishing line from above, not touching the speaker, so I can see the top from around the room.

  16. Not a "single" but I do have a Sony Dual Cassette TC-WR550Z in my stack! It is black and doesn't show up well. It's one of those black boxes between the silver thingamajigs! Pre-Amp Amp Dual Cassette Deck DVD CD Player and Recorder FM Tuner Amp Nice gear.... Have you considered getting a "surge protection" upgrade to help preserve your setup in the case of any electrical issues?

  20. Thx Scrappy. I try to be. I'm a big fan of Dave Ramsey and teaching our children to work hard, save up and pay cash for the things you want to buy. Hopefully they will not fall into the money pitfalls we fell into over the years. Took a long time to dig out of the hole we had been digging for so many years.

  21. One investment I truly enjoy is collectible cars. There is no guaranteed 3% return as you put it, but I can tell you this. It's a whole hell of a lot better to polish a car than to log into Fidelity to look at holdings. If you buy a car right, you reduce your chances of taking a dive on it. Remember that! Shop around for what you want, but don't buy it unless you can get the price that is fair. Negotiation is the most profitable exercise you can learn in life. How else can an ordinary man make hundreds or even thousands in minutes? Negotiation! I can spend $25,000 on a vintage car, and expect that worst case I will break even or have to hold on to it for a couple extra years to break even. If I buy a new car I KNOW I will lose money. If you are worried about safety, buy a cool restomod that has some modern updates. I have seen people who have taken newer model rolling chassis and stuck vintage Mustang or Camaro bodies on them. Yes, you could sell that just like you could an old car. In fact maybe easier. I also like investing in real estate. That is where most of my investments are in fact. I like income producers. Once again, I buy right. The last property I bought had comps at $120-130K. I bought this for $73,500, and the seller paid $500 of the closing costs. The comps were exact because they are condominiums in the same building at the same ski resort. I bought this right by asking the Realtor if there were any deals. Unfortunately the seller was going through a divorce and had to liquidate quickly. He was asking $75K with him paying $500 closing costs, and I got him down a bit more. Since I bought the place in October, my family has been there a dozen times. Well worth the investment! I can easily get my money out of the place if need be; however, I expect I can turn a healthy profit if I ever sell.

  22. Yes, reverse the polarity on both the tweeter and midrange relative to the woofer otherwise you would be creating a polarity reversal between the midrange and tweeter as well.

  28. The 9090 amp is definitely worth the cost. That's a great amp! The 9500 is worth about half as much as the 9090. The receiver isn't worth a lot; maybe $100.

  30. I remember, Kevin is one of the nicest people I have met, when I wrote that I put roughly where he lived and didn't say his name because he doesn't post much and I thought no one would know who he was. I didn't know both of you thought the Kp-600's sounded a little better, I only heard them once in hope and was really impressed. I have to say even thought they separate into three parts they are still not fun to move around for two people. I was there when Kevin backed his trailer up to Michaels and Kevin loaded up a set he bought from M Colter. They told me take the official money changing hands pic.

  31. It's good, no rust or smell, no softener used, straight out the ground around 350' can't remember exactly. My neighbor has a 1000' well and without a pump has 12lbs of pressure, another has one almost 2000' and has about 25 lbs of pressure.

  32. The US Treasury 10 year note is yielding 2.70% as of today. The question is, would YOU lend someone money for ten years @ 2.70%? Because that is exactly what you are doing. By the way, the borrower is currently 17 Trillion in debt & to pay you back they will have to debase the currency, more so than has already been done, to pay you back in dollars that will be worth less than they are today. What the Fed & Chairman Yellen said the other day was that they will continue to "Taper" the Quantataive Easing program of monthly bond purchases, which had been as high as 85 billion a month, and plan to end the program in the early fall. Who then will step in to buy the massive debt issuance of the US government? We issue hundreds of billions of bills, Notes & Bonds every month to service our outstanding debt & run the government. If you knew that the largest end buyer of US treasuries, (the FED), has tapered their buying program, wouldn't you wait and force the treasury to pay a higher stated rate of interest, (the coupon on a note or bond) before buying? Since 9/11, coupled with the implosion of Bear Stearns, Lehman brothers & the collapse of the US housing market, we have been in an artificially depressed interst rate enviroment, engineered by the FED to recapitalize the banking sector. The FED now has a massive balance sheet nearing $4 trillion in holdings, this situation cannot last forever, Eventually they will attempt to let some of the air out of this bond bubble by allowing rates to rise by either raising the Fed Funds rate or selling some of their holdings. The general consensus is that starting this fall rates will start to rise and there exists the potential for inflation which traditionally leads to higher long term rates. Lock in your mortgage rate, get out of any floating rate debt you have and keep your powder dry to take advantage of higher yields in the future.

  33. Been away for a couple months completing the theater. Sneak peak of the Alfredsons Cinema 2.0. Decided to build the theater I have wanted from day 1. Totaling 491 hours of work. Went through a major upgrade and redesigned from the ground up. Triple coats of paint on the moldings, walls and black theater paint on the ceiling, Legrande/Adorne lighting and indicator switch’s and receptacles. Can lights removed and replaced with 6” halo lights, Air ducts and ventilation replaced with oil rubbed bronze hardware as well as door lever and hinges. Railing replaced, Sconce lighting added, 132” Stewart Filmscreen 2.35.1 scoped fixed screen installed and anchored to the wall. Movie poster light box added in the staircase entrance featuring a rare vintage 1993 promo double sided Jurassic park poster, Acoustic panels added and leveled around the entire room and staircase, In wall audio rack housing all the amps and equipment, and (2) 20 amp dedicated circuits installed to power it all up. Detailed photos coming soon. Next up is a anamorphic lens from panamorph.

  37. So, was the tent for the electronics? Or did the band play from inside the tent? Or did someone just blast recorded tunes from there? It does look like a tent on a stage to me. Tents are lighter than sheds, but I prefer the shed to get the creative mojo.

  38. ..for the warm welcome, encouragement, advise and critism....lol...... I am ashamed to admit that at 56 years of age not only is this the first pair of Klipsch I have owned, but the first time I've listened to any, even though I've been aware of their exixtence and reputation since 1979. If there is a silver lining here, is that at my age, I've actually gotten excited about sometihng!

  41. I would find a pair of RB-75's. With the K-50.1 1.75" titanium dome compression tweeter, they are a real over-achiever. I use one pair in a room 15 x 22 with 11 ceiling in a 2.1 configuration with outstanding results.
