  2. Knowing you may have had a good day. Came back by self and playing some music and cable. Had some Bailey's Irish to follow my Mogen David. Tonight, drinking a RR for Old Buckster. Cold that is... Coffee will be the good old reliable friend to awaken. I see a jam in the making. Stings and cables...

  6. Welp, fixed the Volvo Wednesday before going over for Thanksgiving 50+ miles away. Returned last evening with a bite? from a spider on my leg. Internet showed may be a Recluse but walk in emergency said put cortisone cream on it. And if gets red, worse, etc, to fill an antibiotic script she wrote for me. Mad rush at Wally World had softened alot so I got script filled and picked up a tarp. Not for the window, as I used a garbage bag to cover for tonight. Maybe weather will moderate until I can get it up, and find replace parts. Abit of a chilly ride this afternoon. When it rains it pours. Volvo window would not rollup after doing an ATM today before doctor. Seems some flimsy plastic for the up/down button gave out recently, now the metal like plastic part broke. Could always be worse...I suppose. Now for a quiet evening with the cats and music. Heard Christmas music at Wal-Mart...imagine that.

  10. Hey Bruce....it is a PS-14. I don't see the date unless it is the first two digits of the serial number which would be 97.

  11. I 100% agree! Ridiculous, and irresponsible behavior by those cops! I have been involved professionally with kids who have called in bomb threats to the HS's in our area, as I'm sure you know it happens 2-3 times a year. They get caught because they are not as smart as they think they are, then they get convicted for a juvenile crime, then they get assigned to your friendly neighborhood social worker, me. But what you are describing is over the top. My experiences with local law enforcement has been good, but if I was exposed to what your son had to endure, my opinion would change. I understand your defence as to why the cops wouldn't use a taser, and why you wouldn't bring a taser to a knife fight...But could you offer an explanation of why the cops bring an AR-15 to a knife fight according to the OP? It could have been an automatic knife. If I were a cop, I would take atomic bombs to gun fights. Just kidding. Trying to soften up a serious issue with a bit of humor. As for federal training... That may be the whole problem. Since when was the federal government good at anything they do? That is a serious question? In another thread, there is a discussion about homelessness and hunger. The federal government admits it cannot fix this problem. It relies on churches and organizations to fill in the gaps. Now the laws are arresting ordained 90 year old WWII veteran ministers who feed the needy.

  15. Happy Thanksgiving coffee friends!! Up early for no good reason and that's okay. Baxter has more sense ... got up, went out and then back to bed. Guess one needs to get mentally prepared to smoke 25 lbs or so of turkey so here I am. I'm thankful for so much in life, including my forum coffee buds. Will try to check back later before the chaos ensues. Blessings to each of you. Chuck

  16. Jake had his meal early.......no complaints from him. Dry food covers strips of flat iron steak. That is covered with green beans and a pin wheel of steak strips. I will be at an Irish restaurant named The Harp for a traditional Thanksgiving buffet. Happy Thanksgiving to my coffee klatch buds! Cheers Gents

  18. No, but I wasn't interested in the Khorns either. Still, I'm glad you bought them before I did, which would have given my wife grounds for divorce. Now, how much do you want, and where are you located? Pics? (where is that "gun shooting myself in the head" emoticon when I need it? I can't believe they just upgraded the forums and didn't include it)

  19. From Kickstarter Project Update #51 received 11/17/14, "As of this update we have manufactured: 9103 Chrome LE players 2824 Yellow players 380 Clear players We are scheduled to complete 3497 Black players between December 2 and December 8. The black players were delayed because of supplier problems affecting the cosmetics of the special black soft touch paint. We expect all our Kickstarter production to be completed by December 8." As I ordered a black one, I'll have to continue to be patient. I've never felt so "virtuous." In the meantime, I'm giving my single driver/tapped horn sub system a workout with streaming music through Roku from Pandora, Amazon Cloud & Rdio. The heartbeat from DSOTM and the bass in Hotel California (live acoustic version) from Hell Freezes Over sound great from the Exodus Anarchy 25hz TH subs recommended by Carl, aka CECAA850 (see: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/138019-25hz-tapped-horn/page-12). If the high resolution files through Pono makes a significant improvement, I'll be very happy.

  23. In every group of people there is a percentage that is full of themselves, for lack of a better term. My wife used to work for a police department in a small town. A more deceitful, self centered group of turds I have never known. Now I'm not saying that all of them are Turds. But most of this group were. If you didn't join their good ole boys club they would run you out of town. For a lot of years I could not even say the word cop without it destroying the rest of my day. To say that I hated these people would be an understatement. Later in life I had to work with Federal Police officers. Some of them still had the attitude that showed them to be full of themselves. However a higher percentage of them seemed to be good people. Working on a locked Psych unit we had occasion to call them for backup. There was one officer that each time he came to our unit would push the patients until he got hurt. He just did not know when to back off and defuse the situation, Most of the others were very good with the patients and very helpful in defusing the situation. Some of the things I learned in my job was not to get into the patients space, leave yourself room to defend yourself so "No one gets hurt". Only physically intervene when absolutely necessary. To pull up to a suspect and not allow defensive space is just looking to get someone hurt. The officers that shot the 12 year old got too close and did not allow defensive space in my opinion. Nor did the officer in Fergason. I think there is room for blame all the way around. The officers got too close to allow for safety in each case and someone got killed. When interacting with law enforcement personal it is best not to do anything that leaves them feeling afraid for their life. I have been stopped while I was armed more times then I recall. I have found that I can tell them what I think of them, good or bad without giving them an excuse to feel threatened. If I'm in my car, I'm most likely armed. If I do anything to leave these people feeling threatened I know that I might be shot. You just have to look at the whole situation and behave safely. Trouble is too many people, Public and Officers do not act in a manner that promotes safety. You can threaten an officer (been there done that), but do not threaten their safety unless you are prepared to take it to the limit. And die for your cause.

  24. NIMBY Stands for Not In My Back Yard. That is the fundamental reason for laws like this. Most people feel bad for the less fortunate, and definitely feel like something should be done to help them, just not in their back yards. You cannot recall a person who was elected by NIMBY's. I have spoken to many groups about this, and I always go back to the same thing. It is a quote from a minister here in town who said these words to me in a casual conversation. There have always been poor people. There will always be poor people. It is our job to take care of them. I do not give money to the people on the corner, because I know all of them in this area, and they do indeed spend that on alcohol and drugs. Instead I help feed them. One thing most of them need, especially this time of year, is boots or warm shoes. It is expensive, and there are many who take advantage of programs, and that's why they wear rags on their feet. Look down the next time you see somebody who is needy. As bad as they may look, their shoes will look worse. There are lots of things I can say, and the things I just said aren't the most important to me, but it gives you a little insight. My primary reason in getting deeply involved with the needy was that I was very uneasy around them. I am not at all any more. I would like more people to get to this point. People still wouldn't want it in their back yard, but they would see these folks as people just like they are. Many are addicts or alcoholics. Much of the time it is because they are mentally ill, and they self-medicate. Some are just too simple to take care of themselves, and some are geniuses. One thing they all have in common. They appreciate a good meal and a safe place to sit and eat it.

  26. Wife is working today, so my folks and sister+BIL came over for a simple brunch and time with my girls. Easy prep, very little cleanup, and satisfying family time. Tomorrow is time with my wife's family and it'll be a little more "traditional".

  27. Here is the door handle temporarily mounted on our inner HT door. Also here is a picture of the same style door handle on the outside of the HT (I will have the same work done to the outer door handle so it matches the inner door handle). Light is powered by a 9v battery. The inner door still needs the fabric panels to be made and installed.

  28. As I get older I find myself understanding more and more the police's side of these types of incidents. I think nowadays the police almost have to assume the suspect (perpetrator or whatever you want to call them) has a gun also. But a woman with a knife has to be shot 5 times? Come on!

  30. Mark I'm surprised a west coast guy knows about oyster dressing. Mom use to make a batch with and one without. Just had my fill at the Harp restaurant. A traditional meal. Two plates plus dessert (pumpkin pie). Not bad at all. 55 degrees and sunny. Just talked with LF.....light snow in Wheeling. Where is BigStewMan?

  31. no one would have lower level anything. opus and youth would find all the good deals, and a few guys in the klipschood would own trucks with covered trailers and we would all rotate out on trips around the county to pick up the absolute best deals on all the good gear. its just keeps sounding better and better in my mind. lol

  32. if you're shopping around I'd also suggest looking at.... ampsandsound.com Justin Weber, the gentleman behind these products, is a great guy a forum member. I've had the pleasure of hearing his stereo 15 amp on my cornwalls and it sounded fantastic. I think you'd be very happy with his service and products. Good luck with your search.

Seen Robert Cray, Stevie Ray and John Hiatt at outdoor amphitheater in Salem Oregon. Rained, cold, But it was great. They keep coming back and giving us more.

  34. Or Texas Flood or Little Wing, Ok almost anything he played. One of the few DVD's Live from Austin, Texas is good, especially considering it was recorded from 1983-1989, two years before he died. The bonus song at the end is Little wing and it is unbelievable. The DVD is 9.99 on Amazon

  36. I did the same with a pair of K-horns in the HT . . . I use an amp switcher so I could use the K-horns for HT on the AVR and then tubes for 2 channel vinyl on the same K-horns. I actually picked up an integrated Scott 299C freshly rehabbed by Craig of NOSValves precisely because ai did not want to try an off brand new amp . . . has been an amazing sonic marriage between the K-horns and the vintage Scott. I listen to just about every genre of music. You might consider a vintage tube integrated rehabbed by a trusted tech.

  37. I agree completely. Just dropping a turntable into a system does not guarantee it will outperform other sources. There are many factors to consider and many things that could go wrong. If someone isn't predisposed to fiddle with a vinyl rig to wring the best out of it, they should stick with plug n play solutions like a seedee player. I admit I am not the tweaker I once was. At one time in my life I obsessed about every little thing. In the end, this does pay dividends in the form of a better performing system. But nowadays I would rather spend that time just listening.
