  2. Not my pic, but this is a common style of boat where my wife's parents live. We're working on which island we will move to when retiring... Bruce

  3. Rag bagger! Stink potters rule! I told the brother-in-law of my late wife that I would rather have a sail boat that a trawler. He said that would be too much work. I remember that every time he has to put 300 gallons in the tank. Bruce

  4. It's nothing more or less than the absolute arrogance and bully mentality of government today. Makes one want to go in the opposite direction of what "it" tells you to do, but like you said, who wants to go to jail over a stupid census survey? On a brighter note .... Happy Monday Gang!! Got a tight schedule today but will try to check back. Cheers to all.

  5. But you do have lots of cables . . . And, if you had something constructive to add, you would be disqualified from posting in this thread! ;-)

  6. Sorry to see this has taken a turn, Davis you are wrong I have not bumped the thread in fact I secretly hoped it would die. No dis-respect to anyone here and It is not my intention to look gift horses in the mouth, I truly appreciate everything you all have done to help me and my family I hate to say this but Davis you are a prime example of why I am the way I am, I dont ask for help because I do have some pride and it bothers me to have people like you looking down your nose at me with some thought that you are some how superior I will not get any further negative on this what I consider to be the greatest example of kindness I personally have witnessed in my life, I grew up in less than good situations and have been hard headed and fought my whole life to rise above all that, My injury has taken alot from me and my family and I have had to swallow my pride to feed my boys. To all those that have shown us kindness you will forever be in our thoughts, Nothing I can say will ever express the true gratitude I / we feel Davis if you have further comment I would appreciate it be dealt with via email or pm

  8. Hey gang, Just went through a few days worth of post, really haven't had a lot of time for the forum thing. Coytee is OK if you don't drink coffee, my wife got me hooked on the stuff some 25 years ago. I started sipping on hers then before I knew it I had my own cup. Yea we got a few cats, we have always had cats. We have four now, we got two Cornish Rex cats this summer, they are some real clowns. Years ago we had a shop cat. I found him at a Toyota dealer ship. I was getting parts one day and there he was, he followed me back to my truck and jumped in it. He sat on the pass seat and looked at me......like ok let's go....... I got him back to the shop and that was his home. He lived for about five years. He was a big old tabby. He was one of the best cats ever. You could do just about anyting to him, you could pick him up and craddle him like a baby. He loved everyone, when you pet and loved him he would drool....and I mean it....drool drool drool.....it was crazy, never seen anything like it. Catch you all later......Mark :-)

  13. On the third cup of Seattle's Best . . . And, between the 2nd and 3rd cup, finished my gov'ment mandated census survey so that I do not go to jail today. They snail mailed me 3 times in 3 weeks reminding me it is against the law not to fill it out! They even gave me a link to do it online and save us taxpayers postage--which I did. Perhaps it is time to fill the prisons with people who ignore the census surveys. ;-) I remain a law abiding citizen reporting my information to Caesar at the Christmas season. Deep Christmas Thought of the Day: If Mary and Joseph had the Internet option to do their census update too back in the day, Jesus would not have been born in Bethlehem, but back at home in a regular cradle . . . meaning, "The Little Drummer Boy" would never have been made.

  16. Dunno that I have anything constructive to add to this thread as I don't drink coffee. I do however, have a cat. I also have wires and, I have some coffee mugs (almost 90) that my wife is going to fill with goodies and I'm going to give them to my co-workers for Christmas. Hopefully they will be coffee people. The purpose is to keep "me" in front of them at all times (perhaps short of a naked picture of me ) Note that the cat is on the wires which validates the picture (I'll add that it wasn't posed.... wires were sitting there and he comes up and as you cat people know......plopped down as though he owned the place) In fact, Carrot's (also sometimes called Manson for all the rabbit, squirrel murders he's done or, sometimes called Alfred for his Hitchcock type, double chin) Anyways, his favorite place to be is on top of my desk.....ONLY when I'm sitting there. He just lives to get in the way on the desk. Gotta love cats.

  18. When sending a message meant for one person alone, Maybe it would be best to send a PM. Open letter to those that feel more generous. I would expect that although a 1 time donation is Great, There may be a need for more help to keep Joe afloat until he gets his feet on solid ground. I know Joe will not ask for himself. But he may need additional help until he can again provide for his family. I'm disabled myself for 1.5 years. I had someone help me through the worst financial times and now feel pretty solid. Not going hungry, and not in danger of loosing my home. I never asked for help from anyone, and it is Humbling when someone comes out and helps me get back on my feet. john

  19. Joe, It has not taken a turn. Speaking for myself, you have given me invaluable advice and friendship. We all have had times when we needed some support. We all wish we could do more to make this time in your life move faster. We also know, "there but for the grace of god go I." Any of us could get hurt in an instant. For example, my neighbor who is 58 years old and was in perfect health (so he thought) had a massive stroke while jogging. He is a prisoner in his body and can only communicate through blinking his eyes. He recently let it be known that he wishes the feeding tube to be removed. We have all provided all the support to his family in terms of staying up with him, listening, giving whatever counsel we could. I guess what I am trying to say is that at some point, your situation will resolve itself unlike my neighbor. At that point I have no doubt that you will do what you can to help others temporarily stalled.

  24. So your the one that don't drink coffee ! Don't worry as you can see "anything constructive" is not a requirement here, it's closer to anything goes, but no I don't mean the naked pictures of you but the cat's nice. I like cats but don't have a cat anymore, it died of old age and now we have a little hyperactive min pin dog and I am a little worried about adding a cat. Coytee and his cat are welcome here. I have a computer cat also. Great help with keyboard. Don't worry dtel, the dog would not be in any harm with a cat around...

  25. I would like to see a crossover between reference and pro audio, like nice towers but with pro audio drivers. Also would like to see smaller towers and surrounds with real wood veneer. Rs-62ii's with veneer instead of plastic for example.

  27. Yup, descended from fair haired Irish, I'll be using a lot of sunscreen. We're doing a three week trip next Fall, to visit some places we want to settle. First off, not on the eastern side of any islands, because that's what catches the brunt of the typhoons, not too low an area to miss the flooding. Not too close to any of the more active volcanoes... Close enough to a hospital but away from Manila (10 million plus...). We're talkin' around 10-20 degrees latitude. Hot and humid!

  28. No worries. I am glad you responded, likely more politely and diplomatically than I would have. Davis now knows it was me and Eth2 bumping the topic anonymously. It is now up to him as to how he handles it. I would apologize in a PM directly to Joe and publicly on the thread. Thanks to all that have supported this thread. I will be sending more help as well.

  29. It appears that Davis made a mistake but honestly, that could be any of us. That's why I even mentioned in my reply "I could be wrong". Hopefully Davis and Joe can make amends and move forward. I personally received a PM from Joe with a sincere thank you that was written with humility. I imagine I wasn't the only one who received this. I think this thread has been a great example of friends (even if only via online) uniting together or a cause to help fellow brother out who is in need. I agree wholeheartedly. Nothing to be embarrassed about Joe. Any one of us could be in your situation and some of us might just end up there sometime down the road. I believe that "you reap what you sow". Joe has sown kindness and generosity throughout his time on the forums and it is now is being returned to him. This truly is the greatest forum I have ever been involved in.

  32. I don't know if Joe bumped the thread or not. I have bumped the thread several times and I do not see my name anywhere. I doubt that Joe bumped the thread. Thanks to everyone who helped Joe. He has been so responsible in thanking you all. He will eventually get back on his feet and I have no doubt repay your kindness forward.

  33. At the top of every thread is a "bump this topic" button that bumps the thread without requiring an additional post or indicating who used the bump button. It is not safe to assume that the last person listed as a poster of any given thread is the person who bumped it, especially when the last post is several days old.

  34. That the original Khorn was actually built by Herbert Hoover while vacationing in Arkansas. He built it one night and after sampling some of the local moonshine he forgot to put it away. Paul Klipsch, an early riser, found it the following morning. Former President Hoover told Paul Klipsch that he could “have it” since there were no good corners in the Herbert Hoover library anyway. The rest is history.

  36. Just coffee this morning, had breakfast stuff last night for dinner, we do that sometimes. The son in law cooked which is kind of scary to think about, only because I was busy, then later I snuck out to go watch meteors which went really well. This place is overflowing with "stuff" for Christmas orders the wife sells, embroidery, sewing, vinyl, glass etchings and other stuff people seem to want. They have been working on it really late every night for a while now, it's like this weeks before every holiday.

  37. I have my (new to me) 1986 KHorns up and running, I am planning upgrades to the midrange and a change to a two way system with the Eliptrac and one of the 2" drivers, and trying to decide about an amp (FirstWatt M2, Pass XA30.5, etc. etc.) and I came across this. http://www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_beast.pdf I am really, really proud to be a member of a species that has such certifiably insane, creative geniuses. I thinks a couple of these as wall hangings with Roger Corman posters covering them would be awesome.

  38. I do not know but I can't wait for everybody to jump on it and buy it, then dump all the old, and I can buy all the old heritage stuff in the classified at a discount. Why not a klipsch outdoor speaker line that will not tarnish the image by meeting the expectations of klipsch fanatics.

  46. It was either drive this til it quit or my bicycle. The wife says it has to last until I hand it down to my 13 year old son, then I can get a new one. It's solid without any problems (knock on wood) but with AWD and 4:10 gearing I get 12.5 MPG on premium fuel. I had a local upholstery shop do the leather and headrest embroidery; with carpet labor $1750. OEM carpet from GM $330. Paint $2750 with bumper cover, door handles, etc and bed removal. Two weeks for the interior and 2 weeks for the paint provided they get done on Friday as promised. I did the stereo install as the local shops were outrageous. Simple Kenwood double din with required adapters to retain steering wheel controls, chimes and factory Booooz speakers and amp.
