  4. Yesterday I had quite the experience that just makes a chaser/spotter giddy with joy and others cringe. I walked into my store to work at around 330, and by 4 the sky was turning black. It was around then that my phone and headset started going crazy about a SVR Storm Warning. 60 MPH winds was the advertised hazard. So, in my mind I'm thinking "I'm tired of HEARING about the 60 MPH winds always happening, this time, I better damn well get to see some 60 MPH winds." Well, it started to rain around 410, really coming down - then it seemingly stopped being breeze for a moment. I'm ringing up customers, when all of a sudden the doors to the store get ripped open, there's a loud crash, and debris starts flying into the store. Was quite the sight. When it all died down a minute later and everyone in the store regained their composure, we noted two cars in the parking lot had their windows blown out and some siding from two stores down was ripped down. Next door to us, the roof had been blown up - creating a huge hole in the ceiling. In addition to that, several parking lot signs had been blown over, a concrete bus bench had been blown into the street, and there was plenty of garbage, dirt, and tree leaves in the parking lot. As we had checked to make sure that everyone was okay (we had the two customers with window damage - who were in our store - pull up to the curb so we could clean their vehicles out for them), I called the storm report in. No more than 5 minutes goes by and well...this goes out: Followed immediately by the sirens. While I'm sure it was traumatizing for the customers (the lady with the back window blown out was almost hysterical), it was one of those tickle-me moments for me. Interesting note, my car was two lengths away from the vehicles that had damage. The only adverse thing that happened to my car was that it refused to let me start it for about 5 minutes when I went to head home, indicating the vehicle was in "distress mode." It since has been fine. Local media reported on the damage in a blurb: http://kwqc.com/2015/07/07/southpark-mall-sees-damage-from-mondays-storm/ The non-official report that the NWS relayed back to me is estimated winds of 74 to 87 mph - which seems to fit the pattern of damage more than a tornado. Never a dull day at my work.

  6. Now Dtel you been talking to my wife ?? she is always giving me hell about my ears but its usually along the lines of calling them satellite dishes Its a good thing I'm not Vein I would probably get offended billy shes been burning for about 5 hours straight now, only a few hundred more to go........................Its actually used and so should be pretty much burnt in although the original owner says it sat mainly in storage so ????

  7. Between the equipment and nice headphones, I would think the weakest link is your ears. Well, that's some nice stuff, it was just a guess ? Good luck

  10. I am leaning Havana but certainly not decided yet, The metrum does have a cult following for a reason, I spoke with the seller yesterday and found that when he bought it new he used it a bit and then "Barley used after that" so Burn in could be in play

  12. Actually, I do envy you having such a hard time deciding but, yes, tubes and all other being equal, that Havana must be a keeper. Fun in the compare.

  13. currently leaning twords keeping the Havana all things being equal I am a tube fan and since I already have basically a lifetime supply of tubes, I want to set up my AB station today and make a final I may employ the wife and go full on blind, although I feel like volume matching will prevent that time for Brunch

  14. There's ALWAYS a need for two more speakers (rubbing hands fiendishly).

  15. Yes I have been talking with her, who told ? She seems very nice by the way If I thought you would be offended I would never say that to you, just in PM's to everyone else But really no, I said that because that's some nice equipment surely higher grade than my hearing.

  16. Back in June of 2014 I purchased a 2015 base model WRX ; it was bad In August of 2014 I got traded out of that car and into a 2015 limited model ; it was good After 11 months I felt like our relationship was going nowhere and kicked her to the curb . I'm a jerk . I then followed my heart to the gal I was meant to be with anyway . Say Hello 2016 Subaru STI !!! I did this 6 hours ago so it was technically yesterday . "Damn 23 minutes ago I turned 50 , WTH , never thought I'd make it this far ."

  21. He surely is, the Iowa side didn't see the action Illinois did. He also brought me some wonderful spices to try this evening. We had 8 1/2" yesterday, there were several SAR teams running around in the area, but nothing in my immediate area other than flooded storm sewers. I AM THE DARKNESS!!! Psh, I'm always stylin'. The center would be fly with just me holding it.

  23. I would stick to the RP line. You may actually need more wooferage and not necessarily more speakers as the culprit.

  25. Welcome your right your RP will match better with your other RP Just be on the lookout if any version Heresy that pops up cheap and try it out, and then go with whatever sounds best to you. If you get some cheap enough you could always resell it for close to what you got it for if you don't like it.

  27. Well, my Dad was a very close friend of one of the executive producers, James G. Robinson, and he spent a lot of time on some of the sets during filming, and got to hang out with the crew and some of the cast members, which he told me was one of the most fun experiences of his life. Unfortunately he passed away before the theater release of the movie, but he did get to see the final cut, and the dedication to him in the credits.

  28. OK here you go The mother of the kid who thought it was a good idea to shoot fireworks off his head and dies is now calling for stricter controls on fireworks. Well let's start by not using you head to launch them, what kind of stupid do you have to be to think that's a good idea ? Does this really need to be in the instructions ? http://news.yahoo.com/mom-man-died-fireworks-accident-says-rules-too-205543867.html Just one or two more laws and then I'm sure this kind of thing wouldn't happen. Imagine the police rolling up on that scene? Guns drawn - "Get that mortar off your head!!!" "You are in direct violation of the law!!!" Public response "Wow the police sure were harsh on that poor guy, he should be free to launch mortars from where he pleases!" Cycle continues...

  29. Don't blame you at all, I like to do the same thing, you never know where that coffee maker has been. 3 hours is not long, but really just heading out is good enough. I love being home but love to go off to do things, and just to be somewhere else for a change of scenery. Leaving here in a couple of days, for 7-10 days, not vacation but to help someone fix up a house = work, but will have some fun also.

  30. I planned on running them on my Emotiva amp which is 125wpc @ 8ohm and 200wpc @ 4ohm, that should be sufficient to drive them then.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk You won't be disappointed! I had not planned on buying the 802 Diamonds, but I was offered an unbelievable price. The 802D retail for about $15,000. They are the second pair of B&W I have owned. I was not impressed with my first pair which where the DM-10. I traded them for a pair of Bose 901. I was surprised at how good I could make the Bose sound, but I only kept them a couple of weeks before selling them. The 802D will reveal every flaw on a recording.

  33. That's good Joe! Was thinking your present DAC, although good is history. Do not envy your having to compare. Can be challenging sussing it out between 2 nice DACs. Deciding between 2.

  34. I own B&W 802D with matching sub. They are sitting in front of my K-Horns right now. I have the Nautilus center and a pair of B&W 805D for rears. I also have Klipschorns, Belles, La Scala, a couple of Epic series, and on and on. The B&W are amazing. Time-aligned and the bass is astounding. They require a minimum of 50 watts due to the difference in efficiency, but I have driven them with several vintage Sansui pieces. The B&W just sound great. Not that they out perform the Klipschorns (well they do on the top end), but the soundstage blows away the corner horns. They are wonderful, wonderful speakers. Accuracy is astounding. I find them very beautiful and the construction is a work of art. I am in the process of building another sound room to house my Klipsch speakers dedicated to vintage gear and mainly two-channel listening, but the room will be set up for multi-channel as well. Music is on at our place constantly.

  37. Welcome Pegasus--hope you like it here.

  38. Welcome Pegasus, I hear lots of good reviews on the RP line. Do you listen to mostly music or movies? I'm with Seadog, I would go with the RP line of surrounds. How about a center speaker…got pics?

  39. Welcome the the forum. Personally, I would not mix Reference and Heritage speakers in the same system. It might work OK but that would not be the ideal situation. 90 WPC should be plenty for most Klipsch speakers used in a home environment.

  44. Nice story there dTel ! You were on the listening end and you enjoyed it I am fortunate to have not only Pat and Butch, but, since our home is on a corner lot, there is a triangle of sorts, so the other neighbor a GP doctor (when I talked to his wife recently) said they really liked what I had playing on the deck also. So, just yesterday morning, it was all spacey, new age music while they were on their deck which has a built in hot tub/Jacuzzi - I have one speaker aimed in both neighbor's directions, but not a single complaint, so it is really working out nicely.....very lucky indeed !

  45. Now that's the kind of neighbor to have, your lucky. Years ago when were still landscaping, on one house we were working on the owner would ask want you want to hear today ? He had in ceiling speakers around his covered porch which went around the whole house, he would leave a satellite radio station playing all day for us when he went to work. It was very nice of him to do that and made work even more fun. He was a nice guy, we went back to see him after we were done and found out his favorite thing to do was sit on the porch listening to music after work and he would turn on his new sprinkler system and just watch the water spray everywhere. He laughed when I told him I am not responsible if he waters so much his house slides off the hill it was on.

  46. Thanks for the fan suggestions everyone ........... It is near 90 out there........audio system been on since 7:45am. NO SHUTDOWN, so leaving the cabinet door open is doing the trick nicely.....nearly SEVEN hours later I will be sure to shut it down by 5pm. as that is when I am leaving for tonight's rehearsal. I won't be home until half past nine tonight and I don't think music that loud will be appropriate at that hour unattended .. .........Gary

  47. I have small computer fans on all my garage audio components. They'll shut down without them. All you need is some old 12 volt case fans and a wall adapter. I have 3 in my HT cabinet just to exhaust hot air.
