  5. You had me for a minute. " I was thinking Mark is a cooker too?” I can’t be the only one here unable to put a meal together. i will try to make some pasta tonight (at least i bought the fixins, but i do that often and never use them). Last time i tried, during the water boiling process, flames appeared in places where they aren’t supposed to be. Maybe I’ll put on my shoes before i start…in case i have to run….sorry Klipsch -- speakers are too heavy; but, i’ll grab a few guitars off the wall on my way out…and my laptop…and then i’ll come back for a few more guitars…and my Vox Amp…then one more trip into the flames for a few more guitars. Naw man, i know the best places within 200 miles, remembering where and what is my problem, the bigger problem now is the wife just came home, i told her we are ordering out, just as soon as i remember what Rib joint SHE will buy from.....yes she is buyin, that will teach her to come home and wave 5Bones in my face, she won this time around. I see a bottle of GOOD scotch coming for monday.

  6. As most of you know there was a shooting at Roseburg's local community college. Although this happened less then 15 miles from home, I can't tell anyone anything that is not in the News. I can request that we not add to the 15 minutes of fame that these shooters expect to get. I do fully support our County Sheriff's choice to not to add to the shooter's fame by not releasing this A Holes name. Please don't identify anyone by name that does anything like this. Although I firmly believe in Free Speech, I wish the News organizations would refrain from naming shooters. In our case there was a young man that meets my definition of a hero as while others ran away he ran to the shooter while encouraging others to run. He should be honored for his actions. God Speed his recovery from his wounds. Pray for the families if it is your belief. Pray for our Community as we are shocked, and in mourning. If you choose to comment, I ask that you think and not post anything detrimental that may upset other forum members. Those that know me know how hard it is not to spew my personal beliefs at this time. john

  8. Sometimes things never seem to slow down, we leave again in a little over a week but before then this Saturday night were going to have a party. All the people we had over here last year for my wife's class reunion have been waiting for it to cool off a little, well this sat is when they want to do it so, it's on again. I have to say it was fun last time. It's mostly an outside by the bar party, a fire, music and food, a early in the evening pic from last year, turned out to be about 50 people. (I know you like pics)

  14. Coffee cup? Are we talking 8 oz measuring cup or a typical coffee cup amount? I drank 6 cups of highlander grogg coffee per the measuring lines on the coffee pot this morning prior to football. Pretty typical for any morning, so is that too much coffee? It's really only like 3 coffee mugs. Cables? Yep, cleaning up the power cable and remote cable for the new garage sale RTR, as well as the deck itself. Cocktails and National Vodka Day? Yep, got that covered too. A couple vodka tonics, and now vodka and cranberry. Tacos? Not today...looks like leftover homemade pizza. Ribs? Maybe time to smoke a few racks next weekend. Broncos beat the Vikings...thanks, the Bears need all the help they can get. Did you see the Raiders/Bears game? Was that the 11 Stooges on the last kickoff? I swore I was done watching the Bears this season if they lost...I must like torture.

  16. Afternoon all.....no effect from the storm here....just busy busy weekend Friday was Homecoming Game and daughter as (reluctantly) on Homecoming Court....so went to the Parade and Game....we got the much needed divisional win. Saturday was spent starting to clean out the new digs......man....75 years of collecting stuff.....lots of trips to the dump ahead. took over 1000 pounds of stuff this weekend. Ever heard the phrase "Don't know sh*t from Shinola".....well apparently Shinola was Shoe Polish......they went out of business in the late 50's.....found like four bottles of the stuff in a kitchen drawer. Pulling up some of the carpeting....floors are toast...and too many gaps to use as permanent flooring. Dad came by and we assessed the situation. He called his buddy at the sawmill and he told us that he'd cut us a deal since dad uses him so much.....1x6x8 heart pine rough cut for $1/board....well then run those through dad's planer and sander before install.....dad thinks we can do it all in a weekend. Kitchen cabinets are actually in great shape...just need to be cleaned, sanded and painted....new countertops are needed.....deciding between butcherblock or concrete Have a buddy going by one day this week to bushhog the field and till my wife up a 20x30 plot for her garden.....she's itching to go ahead and plant mustards, collards, kale and swiss char Have a few out buildings that need to be torn down and either burned or hauled to dump. Gonna be a hard few weeks....hope to be in by Thanksgiving......once real demo starts I'll start posting pics of progress.

  23. You can't make sense of crazy, it just doesn't work and you end up making yourself crazy in the process. The general populations rights are then impeded on to try and control the crazies. As stated above, they will just get guns illegally or make bombs from everyday household items. Stopping the press from covering the shootings will be a more effective deterent then removing guns from law abiding citizens. The majority of these people do want attention and want the world to see what they are capable of.

  24. Hate that you are having trouble with this project Carl. At least you did get the son's Scion back in business and watched a great concert.
    4 points
  25. Hey gang. My gosh you guys are prolific posters over the weekend. Good show. About the only thing that went right this weekend was the concert we went to. We saw the Marine Corp Band at my daughters high school. They played for about 2 hours and it was absolutely amazing. The blending of instruments and preciseness in which they played was incredible. At one point there was a flute solo the likes of which I've never heard before. There's not enough superlatives in my vocabulary to describe what we heard. I had great plans for the bathroom this weekend but, let's see, what went wrong. Saturday, much of my time was spend in the garage helping my son put a water pump on a Scion. While splitting time between the bathroom and garage I had a mishap in the bathroom. Before I grout the tiles I needed to drill the tiles for the towel hanger brackets. Naturally one of the holes was close to the edge of a full tile and the tile shattered. I ended up having to break the tile off and bust all the mortar out so the replacement tile would be flush with the existing tiles. After that was repaired, I broke the bit on the last hole prior to drilling all the way through, so a trip to the hardware store for a replacement used up valuable weekend time. I did however get some tiles cut (not installed) and got to set the backs of the shadowboxes with tile. Sunday wasn't much better. My plan was to get home from church and set al the tiles I cut on Saturday. We get home and notice the pool pump wasn't running. I pulled the motor and had my wife take it to the pool supply house to get the start up capacitor replaced. When she got back I had to re assemble it all. In the mean time, we brought all the cabinets and doors into the garage to paint.. My wife had put 2 coats of primer on everything. She rolled the doors so they just needed to be sanded smooth. The cabinets she brushed and they were horrible. I had to sand them back to raw wood so we can start over. What a PITA. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

Do not watch much TV, select items as the weather, really hate the news, because it just seems to be getting worse by the day. Cant wait to find my "New" scotch in the morning, wife does not know it (or likely care) but im upgrading to something to better than a buck and a half, hate judging scotch by the cost but that does seem to be the way in the USA......

  30. It's not behind the screen so something that is internal would be nice. Seems like those KI-396's would be nice. Just not a very pretty finish. C'mon.....you don't hear with your eyes. This is why we get in trouble with our better halves, we let our eyes dominate our thoughts for the first 6 months and then our ears are ringing for the next 30 years By the way, I did not say that and will deny, deny, deny. In today's political climate, surely I can get away with that?

  32. So, to drive my La Scala / Belle-based theater system, I picked up three McIntosh MC-30 amps. Here are the first two, which are in particularly fine condition: The third is a little rougher, but is represented to be in otherwise fine form (confirmation awaits its arrival and testing): With the third unit, I also got a McIntosh C8 pre-amp that I will soon be listing in Garage Sale.

  33. Sheesh. With all the concerns about gun wielding maniacs we get reports of one of our own waving one around right here in the Klipsch Forums. "But it was only a glue gun, officer" doesn't cut it. You are lucky Carl got here first and handled the situation in a calm, professional manner. Now, take the magazine out and store it separately. Clean the gun and store it in safe place well away from any Klipsch products. Dave

  43. The title of the thread is "you get what you want in society" Here is what I believe to be some out of the gun debate issues that causes our rampant gun problem. 1) problem: wealth inequality has parents working multiple jobs to keep their family unit afloat Cause: Families are not together as much, less parental supervision and bonding and raising children 2) problem: education system bogs kids down with homework and the mindset that more work equates to smarter kids Cause: kids are stressed with more homework than ever, more activities like sports, dance, band, tutoring, and anything and everything to build their resume to get into college, instead of learning. This puts huge stress on kids, and they don't have time to play and learn to problem solve on their own, or build relationship skills. 3) problem: Technology. Facebook, Twitter, iPads, video games Cause: kids have their faces stuck in a screen and have no relationship skills, they either are part of the club or are an outcast. And then the outcasts are pointed out with all the social media... I think this society we've created is causing mental health issues that coupled with the easy access to human killing tools -- lets be honest, that's what guns are designed for - turns into rampant murders... Whether in a school, or on the streets. Just an idea as to something other than guns being the only issue. Still don't like guns, but I respect the 2nd amendment right to own a firearm. But it's the only amendment that has the phrase "well regulated"

  45. Eh I'll save myself the time and let someone who doesn't have a system already win this so called "reference" system. Most of us already have much higher caliber systems. I hope someone wins it who has ZERO speakers in their house.

  46. Guns are by no means the essence of the problem here. The toxic stew contains many ingredients that combine to make a uniquely deadly culture in the USA, which is not present in other countries of similar wealth and heritage. Everyone talks about the Gun, and seen not to smell the rest of the problem. Sent from my SM-T330NU using Tapatalk

  48. That signature serves no purpose but to incite and offend. What's so funny is that the forum is for the most part completely intolerant to any claim that isn't accompanied by a half ton of plots and supporting evidence. I was always hoping that I could change the culture a little -- most of the "audiophiles" have either been run off or vacated the premises due to boredom.

  49. He and I are just alike: When I get new speakers I put my cold sweating drink on the top; lay my lit cigarette on an edge so that I can over water the plants on the tops and while my hands are free, I throw the grills in the trash while wandering through the house looking for my drink.
