THANK YOU TARHEEL ... Chuck had our backs when he started this thread ... Americans love coffee, and each sip of it may be lowering risk of early death for the 54 percent of adults who drink it every day. In a new study, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health studied the benefits of both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee, and found both conferred a lower risk of dying from the leading causes of death in the United States. "This study provides further evidence that moderate consumption of coffee may confer health benefits in terms of reducing premature death due to several diseases," the study’s senior author Frank Hu, a nutrition and epidemiology professor at Harvard, said in a press release. "These data support the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Report that concluded that 'moderate coffee consumption can be incorporated into a healthy dietary pattern.'"8 points

ironically, my heart was trippin out yesterday up in Arrowhead. Came home early. Talked to cardiologist today, she said it was probably a combination of the altitude and my asthma medicine and the cold temperature. Told her i was afraid to use my asthma inhaler now; but, she said to use it if i need to because that takes priority over an irregular heartbeat. maybe i’ll just add another cup of joe in the morning.7 points

Afternoon gang Farmer happy with barn/shop air supply(s), first time in four generations they have a "Real" working barn. Lathe already up and runnubg, and i think they are shopping for a Mill. Dmv was un-eventfull, in&out in 10 Min. 44 and feels like it, foot heaters in standby, and NO Skeeters! Bench work this evening, Voice Chip re-work in Mr Gopher. The quality of voice repoduction within the confines of a "Chip" has come a long way. Current one im playing with is by far the highest quality iv ever heard, granted it's only 60 seconds tops. Hey folks ... happy Thursday. Looks like I missed some good stuff yesterday afternoon. Steve ...sounds like positive news and nothing too serious although experience tells me it really pays to stay on top of heart issues. Stay healthy, friend. Carl ... beautiful work. Thank you for the pics and progress reports. Planning a little side trip in a few days to meet up with our daughter. She'll be in the States for a week or so. Can't wait till they are back on a permanent basis. Have a good day everyone.5 points

Yes, im aware of that, happening yesterday, saw the input from the other folks, that is enough. Told ya sometime back, get the hell outta there, quit being there for other people, and be there for yourself, it's time. Id consider you're arrowhead outing a warning, time to take care of yourself. I come from this angle, because as you know, every one i knew, is dead.5 points

Morning Gang It's currently 34 and feels like 34. I believe a day off is in order, yep good plan. Coffee time, and the coffee creamer Duggans will have something to say about that. The wife is sleeping in or id be yellin this is a Bacon morning! Welp, decision day for Turkey day has arrived, left it up my newly retired better half, we WILL do whatever she wants. After 24+ years of taking care of the family feeding, this year, im giving her the option. One option is the Atlantis in Reno, Dinner by Chef. But it's up to her.4 points

Thanks Neil. After the granite trim was installed, I didn't like the gap between the tile and the granite. Monday I pulled the border tiles off and scraped the mortar off the concrete board. Last night I cut new tile and this evening I re-set them. That's why there's spacers in the pictures.4 points

That's depressing You see? You got it! Dr Kerston would be proud! Depressing is the first thought, waking up next to it would be "Worse" When im exposed to something substandard and moraly gross, I instantly flip it, think, it could be worse! Turn up the volume on this one.3 points

Never added it up, but the cost of my daughter's wonderful 13 years of life was well over a million dollars. To ask if it was worth it would be ignorant as best. I said at the time I'd happily serve in the galleys if it went to keep her happy. I've nothing but praise for Cook Children's in Fort Worth and Texas Children's in Houston. We were called "frequent fliers" by staff, given codes to the snack rooms, and supported as if on wings of angels. Dave3 points

Apparently, if you boot the cable bill and switch to Netflix and Hulu (or similar), you're still not saving that much since UHD TV's will cost consumers collectively $1 billion dollars more to run: http://www.displaydaily.com/press-release/32993-ultra-high-definition-tvs-could-add-1-billion-to-viewers-annual-energy-bills Interesting read for sure...2 points

Just for the record, considering that both music and movie soundtracks are mixed in control rooms of about the same internal volume of your listening space, it would be double dipping to apply a large-room X-curve on at HT setup. X-curves arise solely due to issues related to loudspeaker directivity and power response issues, as well as large-space air absorption and perceptual changes in the human hearing system in large venues. I've got some JAES articles on the subject--they all say the same thing as above. If you have Toole's book, you can read all about it on pages 385-389. The bottom line on this discussion is that Dr. John Eargle (the same guy that once worked for PWK as the recording engineer of Klipsch recordings and went on to become VP of engineering at Harman Kardon/JBL as well as a Grammy-award-winning recording engineer for Delos) wrote: I think the "X" curve usage in home theaters today arises mostly from misunderstanding of the above, and from the fact that most HT loudspeakers aren't constant directivity (i.e., they're direct radiating loudspeakers with constantly changing directivity vs. frequency) which will cause issues in-room when placed in real rooms, even though they may have been EQed flat on-axis anechoically. Well that was a complete Farce RRB sends me to there chosen Dr. They take an x-ray I am wearing my back brace, carrying my metal cane, have a metal wallet in my jacket pocket, and metal zipper on my jacket. They take 2 shots with all this metal on my person, I asked the tech if need to remove, yea were not worried about it Im in his office less than 10 minutes, Not 1 question about pain, In a room that is maybe 8X8 feet he tells me to walk there is not enough room to take 2 steps (not exaggeration) He checks reflex, has me move my arms, hold out my hands, turn my head, bend forward at the waist, stand on toes and heels. Thats It He tells me he cannot answer questions, can not discuss anything, cannot supply me with a copy of the records. He states this is about your back only it will not mention your neck, arms, legs etc... Have a nice day, Check out with the girls out front What a freaking JOKE................This is the guy they hire to determine my abilities, I would appear the decision was made b-4 ever entered the building At least its over2 points

morning gang 38 and feels like 30. Coffee should be done.......ah...yes Depot run for a few lil fittings then farm breakfast, (BM, eggs, toast, BM) DMV appt later today, paperwork on the f-150 i donated to the farmer(s). Made the APPT three weeks ago, that was the soonest they could see me. Of course if you speak spanish, you just walk in anytime, they do not seem to mind the two hour wait. Holidays coming up, a wise person would be aware of the exact location of "The Toaster", Keep in mind that thing takes out power grids, could be Un-comfortable if one of you're guest just happen to use it Thousands of Thanksgiving get-togethers could be ruined if that device is used2 points

Had to sell my first pair of factory bought '76 LaScallas when wife #1 and I moved into our first home. Wife #2 wasn't too thrilled with speakers or prices above that of Hereseys so I had two pair of those. Wife #3 and right now I am listening to a fine pair of Fastlane modified KHorns with Class A monoblocks; a pair of Quartets, Zu Essence, Merlin MMM stand mounts, two single ended tube amps, a nice hybrid integrated, a couple preamps and two systems upstairs. Are you sure you have your priority's right? Just sayin' ----2 points

Thank you for bring up the subject! I've been interested myself in buying a camera and I'm quite fascinated by the Canon SL-1 from your first post. I've probably read a couple hundred reviews on it already and have been looking at the different kits available online. I'm going to go back to Kenmore Camera and actually hold one in my hand before I make a final decision but from what I've read so far it seems like the perfect camera for me and its in a reasonable price range as well. Thanks again! Jesse1 point
