  2. Good morning. First sip of coffee from victorious Spartans mug. It's a beautiful sunny morning in Southeast Michigan. The sun reflecting from the snow covered trees is spectacular. By Thanksgiving it is supposed to be 50 degrees, so it will all be gone.

  3. Evening everyone... Well, so much going on here on CCC over the past few days.......but, all caught up now.. Anyway, tonight's listening session over in RTM became an evening of testing a couple of subwoofers here in Music Hall... I posted some of these over in RTM, but thought I would share a little here as well... Luther, glad you can share listening experiences with some other friends .... You would have enjoyed the goings on in here... Ok, some photos... Here are the two units in the comparo ... F-1500-R on left, DS-350 on right....Here with grills removed, I should mention that the Pinnacle is a type of isobaric enclosure as there is a second 12" woofer within the cabinethttp://s1215.photobucket.com/user/Tigermanv8/media/image_114.jpeg.html]...here and after the Pinnacle made a great matchup with the Khorns, the DS-350 sits in it's new home.....it really rocks this 23x18' space with authority!

  11. I was wrong about the snow accumulation. While I was enjoying the Spartans' victory over the Buckeyes, the snow just kept coming. There must be 6" out there now, but it seems to be done. I'll shake the snow off my MSU flag and clear the drive so the paper can be at my door in the morning. The snowblower was not used to clear ~8" of wet heavy snow due to the lateness of the hour and the fact that wet heavy snow and the snowblower are a bad combination. Instead, we cleared it the old fashioned way, with shovels. When I clear the driveway I use the boots that served my son, Scott, well while he was serving us well in Afghanistan. It's always with pride and humility that I briefly and inadequately fill the shoes of a veteran. I'm reminded of his band of brothers and sisters who did not return, or returned scarred, physically and/or emotionally. Scott was more fortunate. When you're feeling thankful this coming week. Be thankful for the sacrifices of those who answered the call.

  13. Tea, nothing good ever comes fro having tea, see where it got you..................want me to help you move that Sansui ? You've been eyeing that Sansui, since it came up in a post this summer.[emoji102] im keeping a set of eyes on you.I have made some progress, now just to find a way to organize my junk bins. After dinner i will tackle the rest. The wife thinks the garage is so messy. But i always prove how clean it is when it only takes a couple of hours to clean it, versus the three days she thjnks it will. Good thing i have tunes and heat in the garage. 15. You know you live in the south when no stores even sell snow blowers for hundreds of miles. and it's fine with me Although were expected to be 28 degrees tomorrow night, first time we got below 50 this fall. I doubt it will actually get to 28, our grass and pepper plants are still green.

  17. It's been almost a month since I have posted something on the forum and it's been killing me.. I wanted my 1000th post to be somewhat special... I was going to post something like.....my Klipsch/audio journey for the last 25+ years....but I just could not get my thoughts together. I have a hard time taking my thoughts out of my head and putting them into written form. My brain just does not work good like that. Like most of my speakers and audio gear my Chorus that I'm about to tell you about come with a story... A story that I think is worthy of "My 1000th post"... So here goes..... The Chorus........ While surfing the E-bay some 8-9 years ago I came across a set of Chorus I's. They had a starting bid of 99 cents, so they caught my attention. I clicked on the pics to see some really bad looking cabs. I mean these thinks were busted. The corners were gone on most of the top of the cabs. There were only four pics just enough to show how bad they were. All four pics were taken with the grills on, so I could not see any of the horns or woofers. A very brief description that didn't tell me a whole lot. So I placed my bid and I forgot about the auction. To this day I forget how much I bid but it wasn't much. As some of you guys might know my wife and I work together. We own a small auto shop and it's just me and her. So at the shop one afternoon my wife yells in the bay at me.. "hey you won those Klipsch"..... I was really at a loss, I really forgot about the auction. I went into her office to see what she was talking about. As soon as I looked at them it "clicked". She asked me what they are, I told her they are some Bad A$$ speakers..... Now my wife loves our audio gear... she was the one that found our LaScala's some 25+ yeras ago. So we looking at these really bad looking Chorus and she said something like... are you sure you want those?? I was at a loss, I won them for less than $30.... I forget how much I got them for but it was something like 27 bucks. The auction house was down in Washington DC... Down in the hood. DC is about an hour drive for me... but I hate driving in DC. I'm thinking let me call the auction house and get the scoop on these things. Like I said there were no pics of any of the drivers and if these are just bare busted cabs I'm going to pay for them and tell them to trash em. I wanted to keep my 100% feedback on my E-bay. But I was not going to drive in that DC hell for some busted up cabs. The call went something like this.... The guy told me that they sold these Klipsch for a customer several weeks ago. They shipped them but they got damaged in the shipping. This is how they got them back. They made a claim and everyone was made whole. He said they just want to off these Klipsch to someone that could use them. He said they were 100% working before the shipping damage, but had no clue if they work now.. but all the drivers are in the cabs. I told him I would be down tonight to pick them up. They were open late into the evening so I didn't have to fight that 5-6 hour DC hell traffic. The drive down there was not to bad....it was not that deep into the DC hood like I thought it was. We pay my man for them and loaded them into van. We got back to the house around 10:00 or so. I got them into the house and had a good look at them.... they looked much worse in the pics...oh they were still ugly.... well lets hear them... a quick hook up to one of my amps. Put about 20 watts to em and I could quickly tell somethings not right. One of the woofers was blown. But the other one was 100%. Now it just so happens I had a pair of K-48's in the basement. I got them years ago for something. I forget why I got them but I have them.. I get crapp from my wife about the stuff I buy. My wife was just shaking her head when I came upstairs with the woofer. I swapped out the offending woofer and put the watts to em..... Oh my they sound great.... the wife was like holy shitt. Despite how they looked these things kicked.... The cabs were still solid... I was very happy.. The Chorus was one of the 1st klipsch speakers I heard many many years ago. My old x brother-in-law brother got four of them when they 1st came on the market. He powered them with two Carver cube's. I never forgot that sound... it blew me away.... Now I have a set for a really good price. I must now end this 1000th post.....ohhhh I'm not done... I'm just getting started on the story of these Chorus... Like I said It is really hard for me to put things into written form and my brain is killing me right now. This is just how I got these things... and I am also at my home computer and this thing is slow and if I loose this I'm going shitt a brick... I hope you like it so far.... I will continue later and I will get the wife to load some pics tomorrow at the shop. Stay tuned..... MKP :-)

  18. I have not. People here would probably have brought it to our attention. The Forte II going down to 32 Hz might well be the lowest before you go to stand alone subwoofers. I love my Forte II. But it is also necessary to be realistic with actual music, with the exception of pipe organ. One interesting fact is that the lowest open string on the bass guitar, and I think bass fiddle used by orchestras and jazz groups, is E and that is 41 Hz. Therefore, may well be that we need that to hear Sir Paul on Beatles recordings as well as a lot of other pop and jazz. The bigger Klipsch will do that. OTOH 1: Anyone can say that a speaker going down to 32 Hz rather than 41 must be better. But the musical scale (see attached) is just two whole notes lower to C. How much better can that be? OTOH 2: I do believe that if a speaker cuts off at about 60 Hz (there are many), that is an entire octave above what the Forte II will reproduce. That IMHO is quite significant. WMcD

  28. I for one enjoy having more opinions being expressed on important topics. I thought some pretty good ones were happening on the regular forum and it didn't seem like anyone's feathers were being ruffled but I understand those are the rules...That said, I took a 4 month hiatus from the BS section but came back to the Klipsch main forum when I saw that a second opinion could be useful. I agree completely. I also understand some people can't handle discussing topics they really don't want to hear what someone else with a different opinion has to say or have an open mind enough to realize there are different sides to important issues....Then again, my beef with the high post count is that folks who post quick nonsense to get their numbers up really aren't the ones you want to have a intellectual discussion with.

  31. What would be really cool is a LaScala III that has a Tractrix horn, is active with built in time delay and has Palladium Veneer. Add in a matching set up factory horn loaded subs too for good measure and it would be ultimate

  39. That does not look bad at all, once cleaned up let her have it everyday. When i wish "Shop Work" i use the wifes garage, when done for the day i sweep up and pull her car back in. Piece of cake, she always has a clean, dry well kept space, and i have a spare clean shop when needed.

Happy Friday Y'all Not a thing Happening here, tested the boys Xmas present out this AM and it survived the shipping Pulled the switch head off the ringer washer I am somewhat restoring for camper use, totally gummed up with 67 year old grease. Soaking in a couple gallons of diesel as I type Hoping that will soften up the grease without peeling the original paint off, slap some new grease on the gears and get the wheels turning Later
