Thanks all. Just made a run to the grocery and liquor stores. Guess which bill was higher??? There should be 10 or 12 here for lunch. I made a big pot of sauce and meatballs last night, Throw in some spaghetti, salad and a couple bottles of chianti and we have lunch. We'll have the rehearsal tonight followed by the rehearsal $$dinner$$ where I get to buy dinner for 40 or 50 of my closest friends . The high light of the day will probably be the card game after that. Good times my friends, good times indeed.7 points

Morning gang...... Yup...it's Friday.....just another day..... Tomorrow I'm taking my old old Sony cd player to this audio repair shop....this is the 2nd time in 20+ years I needed it worked on. This unt cost me almost $900 back in the early 90's... it's the ES-801...it has the all aluminum plater and the wood sides. This thing weighs almost 20 lbs....it's a solid old unit. I hope my man can fix?? As these units get older parts become a issue... I know I could get another cd player cheaper than the money I might be putting in it....but I love the vintage look this unit has...well wish me luck... Not as cold as it has been....but still my cats are cold....there in the "Clam" this morning.... Stoney & Boney say hi.... Check-in later.... MKP :-)7 points

Well, I'm with you! I embraced CDs as soon as they came out, got rid of all of my vinyl, and still buy CDs of artists I enjoy. Somehow, handling a physical medium is more appealing to me than having a computer as part of the audio system. Guess we are in a definite minority, but as long as CDs are being made, I'll continue to buy them! Maynard5 points

Mornin' all. Not much cooking out here except a few inches of snow. Just enough to screw up rush hour for the non-retirees like Better Half Unit. My biggest burden is brushing a little snow off the satellite unit for better TV reception. Life is so hard!! Congrats Carl ... have a great day with the family. MKP.......good luck getting that CDP fixed. Back later. Happy Friday.5 points

Once upon a time I kind of favored cream corn - I think I'll pass at this point! As she seems an intellectual I think she was just showing the boys how their vodka was made - with corn of course, a little water, sugar and she provided distilling kettle): A great lesson taught ---5 points

We have a cat, his name is Otis. He has only one eye so I call him our pirate puss. Anyway, he comes in for visits everyday but spends nights outside. We have no litter box and he has never had a mishap. He just goes to the backdoor to let us know he needs outside. Great setup as he is about 5 years old now. Best way to have a cat for us.4 points

Nothing odd about that at all. A very well recorded redbook CD played on a quality player can and does in most cases sound better than most(non Hi res) computer based recordings. Bill3 points

Well she was already thinking abot not going back to the boat as of late. She wants to go finish her Masters we are cool with that, then she wants to move to Dublin, good with that also. We will likely need to buy her a car of some sort, no biggie. 5Bd house, so room is not a problem either. We are stuck here in the state till at least after march next year.3 points

God bless you Ms. Valerie. I will be praying for your swift recovery. As previously stated, thank you for letting us in and sharing your Paul with us.3 points

Good (Almost) afternoon gang Up from Nap 1. Cold, fog burnning off, i want a Corn Dog Dammit. Well now i have things figured out, W/MKP First, it is a real critter Second, it's his,(Theres) Third, i see where the name "Stoney" works for them. Now that is a cool Cat, i like it. I will show the wife. Already told the wife and Daughter they can have another Cat, but from now on it's indoors. Tired of paying well into the thousands for an indoor/outdoor critter. In nevada, i will not care, as Goats and a Pig will be on the Ranch.3 points

That's cat is enough to scare other cats, I have to ask.........is that a hairless cat or did it get shaved ? I know it sounds crazy but it does have makeup on so it's a reasonable question considering MKP is around. Kind of looks like an Aunt I have3 points

Congratulations Carl, it sounds like it's going to be fun, you may need to take a day off of work to get a break after all this.3 points

It also depends on the in-ground lifts you have. These are light years ahead of what was out there (air over hydraulic) in the 70's and 80's. Thats what ours were, air over hydraulic and probably from the 80s.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk3 points

Yes! My wife just got me an emotiva erc-3 for Christmas. It sounds excellent through my set and diy la scalas. Amazon dropped a few new discs in my mailbox today too. The people who think I'm nuts for buying cds could care less about sound quality.2 points

Well Carl, I would guess there will be a Martini station somewhere in the house, it would only be right considering how good yours are.2 points

Mine are nearly 31 years old, and the dust caps are perfect. The passive woofer dust caps are exposed and easy to bump into when moving the speakers, so they must be handled with care. I still have the original boxes in my attic. I have moved 4 times since I bought them (the last time was 23 years ago), and every time they moved in the original boxes.2 points

Most of those leak underground and had constant issues with water intrusion from the ground and being introduced through the compressed air. The new ones fit in an in ground cartridge and can be easily removed or replaced. Any leaks are contained (but I've never had one). The hydraulics are electric motor driven from a power pack mounted on the wall. We have 10k and 12k's here.2 points

I remember this picture of PWK investigating those large Western Electric horns similar to that previous picture....... At first I thought he was measuring for a new Khorn top hat, then I saw this picture of PWK and Jim Hunter with this monster horn. . When it leaves your shop, make sure the CD player has a RaP disc in it. They will never know where it came from..... Dont have any Rap CDs available? Go ask those car lot guys, they get that kind of crap all the time in the used car business maybe they saved a few.....2 points
