Morning gang Lite day, as in nothing planned. Had a hit on my EAW stacks, local gent from up the hill, looking to be a flake. Will Re-Post my CL listing, Goal this year is move them outta here by summer, yet another reason im being lazy on the completion of the other MCM Bass Bin, NO ROOM for both. 70's+ yet again today Tunes, Libations, and Skeeters, sound like a good plan for the day. Back to parts shopping, Long wire Antenna + insulators (Glass) still need to be acquired. 82' run for this house, because I have the room. With the Ant Tuner I have on the way, plan is to get down below 1Mhz or ULF as they refer to it. 45+ years ago I listened/talked all over the world running less than 2 watts. This is NOT Ham Radio, just kind of a kinky past time to chat with a fellow in Kuwait about his weather Hobby's, see, that is what Retirement should be about, well that and getting the Trash to the curb today.........like now6 points

Some of you may remember my build of a re-envisioned amplifier based on the Dynaco ST70. I basically took an original ST70 as my source of inspiration, used only the output transformers from it and built an updated version from scratch.3 points

If anyone ever wondered just where in the hell these Amp builders come up with all their Kinky parts, you better have some time on your hands because there is over 25 pages. http://stores.ebay.com/czhstore2013/_i.html?rt=nc&_pgn=1&_ipg=483 points

I got 30+ years out of my Carver (SS) amp without touching it. I don't know of any tube amps that could make that claim. I do--- :D :D ! Mkane is correct, but it is amplifier dependent. With single ended, cathode biased, output stages there is no headache, maintenance, or anything else required. Turn it on and enjoy it as you would any SS amplifier. If we take as an example 500 hours of use per year times 30 years, we're talking about 15k hours. That's very easily attainable from single ended output tubes if they are being run conservatively. The same applies to electrolytic caps, which are often a weak link. If of good quality, and operating conservatively, they can last for 50k hours or much more over a 30 year time period. Back in the 60s I serviced countless radios (many with the typical poorly ventilated cabinets) which saw service for 10+ hours/day and only needed a tube replacement after 5 or more years (and it often wasn't the output tube). For many years I used a Hakko 936 that served me very well. Then about a year ago, I got a Hakko FX-888 that I love. I have posted this picture before of my workbench. It is off to one side of my sunroom that holds my DIY/vintage system.2 points

I have been using a D-Sonic in my HT for about 5 years now. His original design was ICE power, but he is now currently using s new technology. I absolutely love it for both movies and music. High power, very little heat and not a back breaker. Mine is a 7 channel, front 3 are 525wpc and the rest are 250wpc and the amp weighs 57lbs. I also have a Wyred 4 Sound STI 1000 to mate with my RF 7's strictly for music, another great combo. They play with authority and it is very musical. The original Sunfire amps were class D and I know several who love it for music. The price tag for the D-Sonic IMHO is one of the best bang for your buck in audio. That is the next amp I will purchase for the HT if the current one ever craps out. One more note, ICE amps are the only amp I have found to be dead quiet. With everything on and nothing running, you can put your ear directly on the speaker and hear nothing. No hiss, No hum2 points

I'm finding this very enjoyable. Thanks Mark! Rog When I find these kool sites, I like to pass them on, after all, a lot of people think Parts Express is the end all to parts sourcing. 31.2 degrees here and raining... Not a nice day outside at all. Amazing what a 900 foot change in elevation does for you. Got a text message at 7:30am saying school is on a two hour delay. Supposed to make it to the mid 40s in the valley, but I'm not seeing it happen. Bruce2 points

Bend, Oregon has moved to Number One on my list of places to move to, it comes highly recommended and everything i've seen thus far -- i like. Now i have to go visit there to see if it lives up to the billing. It just passed the biggest test though, as I just confirmed that they have a Del Taco there. This is turning out to be a wonderful day.1 point

Well, I sent the amp off to Craig at NOSValves for him to do his magic. Some tweaking and fine tuning some parts and it is better than I ever imagined. This thing is dead quiet. Here are some screen shots: 20 Hz 200 Hz 5 KHz 10 KHz and last at 20 KHz1 point

Grizzog, Congratulations on your upcoming child! I'm sorry to see that you had an unexpected result on an ultrasound and I know first-hand how terrible that can feel. I will be praying for and with you that later tests yield different results and that the child continues to grow and develop normally. In the interim, I would encourage you to not focus on the potential difficulties you may have in raising the child and difficulties that the child may have in the future. As things stand right now, you have a child coming and that is a great blessing in itself. If we spend our lives in constant worry about what may be, we simply heap misery on ourselves. While it is possible that some negatives may come out of your child's possible condition, it is also extremely likely that many wonderful positives will come out of this child's life. You have asked for prayer, I also want to offer some Scripture to aid in your comfort. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:25-34 ESV) It is my earnest prayer that these words give you peace and rest as you await the birth of your child!1 point
