  1. Open mouth, insert foot... I made some irrational and rather rude statements regarding the "new & improved" format. First and foremost, my sincerest apologies go out to Chad. I was rush to judgement and did not give credit to all of the tremendous and hard work that has gone into keeping this forum alive and a fun place to be. Very good work, Chad! The new site is awesome. That is all. This is an incredible group of people and I can only hope I have not been "black balled". My apologies to you all. Regards, Matt ♪ ♫ ♪

  2. thanks everyone! it was a fun journey! they sound fantastic. i dont like judging things without actually a/b'ing things properly. But to my ears these sound better than any other speaker i have had in this living room. i know for sure that when i a/b'ed the palladium center channel to the legacy silver screen HD my buddy has i thought they were neck and neck with just tad fuller sound with the legacy. well when i a/b'ed the 893 to the legacy there was a clear winner. the diysg is better. what i was hoping for was palladium sound with better than duratex looks. think i nailed it.

  8. I'm fully enjoying it. The sub really rounded everything out. It's the best I've heard yet for movies at home. I didn't expect the 60" TV to look small though! I think these may be the largest I can fit in this area, so these will be around for a long time. Before I sold my Cornscalas, I had them in the room for auditions. It was a little funny since they blocked half of my door to my garage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. I think the stimulus for most of the disappointment gravitated around two things for everybody. First was the fact that the most popular thread wasn't a thread at all, but a question/answer post. Those are sorted by community popularity. I think that is most excellent. Second was the slowness due to the indexing which is taking place. Hopefully that gets finished soon. This forum does everything the old one does, and a great deal more. It's just getting acclimated that takes time. I have been purposely avoiding the Activity tab because it is slow due to the indexing still taking place. Once that gets done, I expect I will take great joy in using it. It is after all a much more powerful tool for drilling down to what we want without doing a 'Search'. I think eventually, when the indexing is done, we make a TIPS thread. That way the folks who don't have the energy and time to navigate through all the settings can open the TIPS thread in one tab of their browser while trying those things out in another tab. It may be a bit early for a tips thread, but I would like to see one eventually. Thanks Chad. I know this is a much better compile for sysoping. I know you all had your hands full with the extreme limitations and bugs in the last release.

  19. Greetings all! I'm trying a blueberry flavored coffee and I have to confess I don't hate it... My wife and I are celebrating our 10th and so I booked tickets on the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward. Google it - if you ever have the chance to come to AK, do this trip! IMHO it is a world class view with high likelihood of sheep and moose sightings. (Poss bear, but they're much more skiddish). Here's the link to the images page. Anyway, I'm very excited about this staycation date with my wife! You know how it is, when you're local you don't always take the time to do the touristy stuff, but this one is long overdue! https://www.google.com/search?q=alaska+railroad+coastal+classic&safe=active&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjrieCr56XOAhWEESwKHXt3AnUQ_AUICigD&biw=1264&bih=610 Oops - if you click this link, then click "images" - I think it's worth a peak!

  20. I think the yellow wire is batt+ and red is ignition/ACC. If the yellow is not connected to a non switched source, you will have this type or problem. You should also be losing your station presets though. If it turns out your KW is a dud and you can't get warranty, I have a brand new Kenwood digital media receiver I can push your way if interested for $50 shipped. I bought two and used one. Its a KMM-BT315U. There is no CD player, so be warned. This is a modern bluetooth, USB, etc and does support FLAC which is cool.

  22. naw....we dont have nothing to prove. our Customers like them even if we use "not great woofers".
    2 points
  23. thats funny doc. i know you are impressed with how woofers look but the reality is that we are concerned with sound of a system. just a tid bit for you doc (because i like you so much), we are constantly looking at woofer suppliers. we provide samples and specs and we get sample woofers to test. if they test like we want them to, then we ask for the quote and by golly molly, then turn out to be quite a bit more expensive then what we use. in real world of producing loudspeakers, it about the system and what we are trying to achieve;not about woofers and how shiny they look. so i guess we will continue to use "not great stuff".........

  28. Chad, I saw where you locked both my threads on "Forum Overhaul." I hope you know me well enough to know that doesn't hurt my feelings in the least as I trust your judgement, and I don't take things like that personal. I just don't. I am curious though why you locked the thread/topic down. Was it attracting too much lightning? Maybe it was creating more problems than it was solving by piling on a lot of criticism and you needed things to slow down just a bit? Are you trying to narrow things down to more specific questions that make it easier for you to track? I just want to be a part of the solution, not the problem. Your answer(s) will help me be a more responsible contributor to the forum. Thanks! -Dave

  29. Thanks for the explanation, Chad. Once I posted in the Questions section because of the different format of that sections I almost immediately came to the same conclusion, but I still wasn't sure what to do about it, hence the duplicate question in another section. It's going to take all of us collectively some time to get used to the changes. I am SURE Chad has got a million things to take care, and I'm also sure there are corporate people at Klipsch giving him "suggestions." I appreciate the fact that Chad is being responsive to forum members' input. There are other discussion boards where decisions are implemented without regard to input from the posting community. I prefer the format where we work together to make this forum the best one on the internet for discussion of audio in general and Klipsch in particular.

  30. A key takeaway here is to just know that just because something doesn't appear "broken" to you, doesn't mean it wasn't. The upgrade was 100% necessary, for reasons I already explained. I know some people don't like change, and that's OK. Comes with the territory. As a web developer, I have to deal with that constantly. Things change daily in my world -- that's not even an exaggeration.

  32. Well the P38s showed up. WOW! BIG boxes. Mad wife. She is a petite woman and the boxes were as tall her when stood upright. There much assurance that the boxes were much bigger than the speaker because of packing. First impressions: Appearance - They are very nice looking speakers. The wood looks great and passes WAF factor. Cool shape. Biggest speakers I have ever owned. Shipping - Packed very securely in double boxes with large padding everywhere. Speaker was in a large "sock". Connections - Sturdy, secure, shiney. Sound - I also received a new Parasound A21 amp the day after I got these so I am babying them for a few hours before I open them up. I have read many different opinions about whether or not there is a "break in period" for audio equipment. My KG 5.5s sounded much better over time so I am going with that. They sound VERY good. I do not know all of the super articulate vernacular for describing audio, but they sound "transparent" in that the differences between something recorded well (various SACDs) and other music that is moderately recorded and some that is just old stuff (various rock / classic rock) is very noticeable. They sound clear and the imaging is great, even in my non-audio specific listen room (regular living room with furniture). You can tell that they are powerful and will be willing to jam (see my user name) when I want them to. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

I'm debating on building some new subs that aren't quite so bulky. and of course implementing the oak on it somehow to tie it all together as a set. also surrounds will get new cabinets to match in the next month or so. grills for everything coming soon too.
